I must say you guys are the most dedicated hobbyist’s!! It’s that cold outside and you are bringing us a great video!! When it’s that cold where I live the only thing g I am flying is my wood stove!! lol
Really like your videos y’all do such a great job. I have been out of the hobby for 25 yrs but y’all are making me want to get back into it.
Go for it! It's so much fun, and with the technology in these planes, you could be up in the air in a few hours, and it's so much cheaper to actually enjoy the hobby. Of course, you CAN still stick build these birds and make them absolutely amazing, but you can get one of these planes and everything you need from NOTHING for less than $500 for the first plane, and be flying some of the best! You can also just blow about $100 for a fun toy-grade option too, but knowing you were into the hobby before makes me think you might want to skip that step - you don't need to be convinced how amazing it is...you already know :)
You need to do it, it’s not that expensive once you get set up, it’s a lot of fun and you can always start up in safe mode with this new planes you’ll be surprised how much fun it is. I am retired now and I love this hobby.
Wow Brian that looks amazing! The way the backdrop is in front of your house and the plane flying over that and all the snow almost look like it’s flying in Germany over the Air bases.. Love your channel man keep it going brother..👍🏾
Thanks 👍 We thought the snow really helped the scale appearance of this plane. Too bad it was soooo cold!!!
@@BrianPhillipsRC 🥶
I just got this plane as my second plane. My first plane is the Aeroscout s2 rtf. So this was my first plane I had to setup and bind myself and I had no idea what to do. I have the nx6 too. You got me all set up dude. Thanks! I am going on my maiden with this plane tomorrow morning.
You guys are so committed , I can tell it is frigid lived in Colorado for a while thanks for the video .
Yes we are, well, I am...my camera crew is the voice of reason. LOL!
Wow, you showed me something on the radio. Didn’t know under aircraft types there were more pic of planes, Thanks , that’s why I watch you..
Awesome Robert! Glad we could help you out!!!
Thanks for being here with us!
Amazing video. I detect that your enthusiasm level, with building this planes , exceeds all other aircraft that you have built and flown.
Not sure I would qualify it the same way, but I'll let you have this one, Greg ;)
What a great review, you answered my question about the FW190 vs. the P51! I will be ordering one soon!!!
Glad I could help! Both good, but this Fw 190 is just easier and more relaxing to fly, but it still has the PRESENCE!!!
Best RC channel on CZcams!!!!!!!!!
I'm so glad you think so ;) Thanks Clay!
So cool that you use one counter for all your Smart batteries and Smart chargers. I’m with you on being safe charging. All my batteries can handle 3C’s max but I never go above 2. I usually charge my 6s packs 1.5-1.75C’s to make sure they are going to last.
True!
Just ordered the FW190 from your channel. You have the BEST RC channel out there. I have been researching this airplane for a while but because of you and the Camera Crew It's done. Now I have to deal with the wife. LOL Thanks Brian and crew.
OH BOY!!!! don't blame me, I'm already on a few hit-lists!!!!!!!
@@BrianPhillipsRC Ha ha he he, good one Brian.
Seems like planes are getting way easier to assemble. The T-28 1.1m was two screws and four small pieces of tape, almost a RTF. Made me shiver seeing you and camera crew out in that cold weather. I went through cold weather training camped at the base of Mt. Fuji and have hated the cold ever since so no flying in bad weather for me. Great video as usual. You are spoiling me, now when I watch other CZcams videos, I think, 'that's NOT the way to do it'. Let's all do a warm weather dance to get rid of the cold and snow.
LOL - Doing it NOW!!!
Update - the dance didn't work, and has caused some other damages...plus it's going to be colder as a result - NO MORE COLD DANCES!!! ;)
I really appreciate you showing your changes on the NX. I always fight with set up.
Thanks! We want to teach our audience to be good with them, not just know how to make it work. We're still fairly new to some of this technology too, don't forget ;)
Best landing I have seen with this plane so far lol. She’s a bouncer and likes to skid left on landing.
I have four flights in on mine and found that take off flaps (for me at least as I like a little ballooning on take off) are at 10% mix and I believe my landing flaps have a 20% mix in them now to keep the ballooning from happening.
Thanks Christopher!
Thanks for a great video...get yourselves warmed up and have a nice evening. Cheers Pete.
Thanks Peter! Thanks for stopping in again!!!
Absolutely beautiful warbird Nice take off and landings and it looked great when you pulled off those cool maneuvers Seemed to roll very nice and track very well Can't ask for much better than that
Awesome vid Brian & Camera Crew 🔥👍✌️
Many thanks! She flew better than I expected she might, and landed even better!
1:05:59 its used to warn ground crew that the engine is running since they wear ear protection they can't hear it.
I see! I heard that too ;) Thanks
I don’t have this one yet . It is on my short list foe sure. The 190 was the start of a engineering marvel in its hey day. There was a lot of innovation brought to aviation by this plane.
True, and it's not too bad on the eyes either :)
This swirl us called „Lackierter Spinner“. It’s saves the ground personal. You can „see „ it’s easier if a prop is on or not. During stress situations etc. And also against birds. True. If it’s spins the birds only see a „black hole“ and avoid that area by instinct.
Sure!
You guys are real troopers filming that that level of cold for us. I hate flying in the cold...the fingers suffer bigly.
Gotta try these gloves or some like them... amzn.to/3qglqdi (this is a BIG package..but you can get like 2 packs too, for way less to try)
@@BrianPhillipsRC Thanks for the heads up, I'll check them out!
Awesome flying :-) Gotta love that landing...
Thanks, and we were very happy with this plane! So good in the air, and lands super nicely!
Convalescing in bed from major shoulder surgery so not able to fly again for quite a while. This model looks awesome. I think I’m going to get this one. I have the craptacular Dynam FW190 that crashed on first flight because I messed up and had my ailerons reversed like an amateur. The retracts on it worked exactly once and never worked again.
An interesting fact about the fan you referred to as an EDF is actually quite scale. The real FW 190 had the same fan to cool the engine because the designer wanted as little drag as possible. The spinner was meant to be a continuous line to the cowling but engine overheating stopped that but the design even though it was open still caused air to flow from the spinner to go directly over the cowling so air had to be forced over the engine mechanically using a fan blade system. You can google images to see for yourself. Kurt Tank is the man who designed the FW190 and he over engineered the heck out of it. It is one of the best designed fighters of WW2 and one of the only fighters distend from the ground up with a bubble canopy instead of a razor back. I really enjoyed watching you expertly fly it over the icy eastern front. BTW I noticed on my trip back from my doctors office today the thermometer on my cars dashboard read 74’F outside.
LOL - 74 degrees ;( I noticed -10 degrees F today on the way to my first stop...
What a beautiful war bird and fantastic pair of flights.👍👍
Thanks Tom! The cold made it harder than it had to be, but can't wait to fly it while I'm comfortable ;)
It's not easy flying in this cold weather. My fingers freeze on the sticks.. I'm in Jersey and we been under snow for a few weeks as well. I've been flying off skis lately. What a great landing Brian, this plane is so damn good looking.
Totally agree, she's a looker!!! Try the Nitril gloves you might really enjoy it!
amzn.to/3qglqdi
Great video. I was so into it I felt like I was watching a good movie. Nice flying!
Thanks a lot! We appreciate you kind words!!!
Glad to see you finally review this plane. It looks fantastic and seems to be physically similar to my FMS Trojan V4 T-28. I'm really tempted to pull the trigger, but frankly, I'd like to hone my landing skills a bit more before trying this one, as I don't want to risk screwing it up. When I do buy it, I'll be sure to use your link.
(Pssst... the gloves are actually "nitrile", not "nitrate")
As always, thanks much for sharing.

Love the new fw-190A from e-flite. Bummer that it’s so expensive, but it’s definitely worth the price imo.

Brian. Eflite is killing it buddy. They are getting miles ahead of the competition. Spektrum, Now with their Gen 2 tech. Best thing about this, We are the benefactors. Well, at least for those of us that embrace it. I think over time, those who been holding out will come around. I figured out in this hobby, you get really what you pay for. P.S. I don’t see how you and the camera crew fly in that cold and icy weather..What dedication. Here in the south it’s been really damp and cold. I been struggling with that. Haha. Great job covering this one. 👍👍
I agree! Horizon Hobby has been making all sorts of upgrades in the tech that's been enjoyed by all of us. As for "paying for what you get" - totally! I know there's other stuff out there, and we review it too, but I think of Horizon Hobby as being the best you can get in a BNF setup.
As for the dedication, thanks, and yes, we are dedicated to keeping this ship sailing, even if the water is frozen - LOL!

Awesome plane and video! 👍
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks Carl!
Nice flying Brian :) As I'm a beginner and have just advanced from my Carbon Cub to the T28 trojan 1.1m Eflight.
What is the best way to learn- using the pinch technique or thumb roll when controlling the sticks on the transmitter?
Also I just ordered the Carbon Eflight T28 2m. Couldn't resist last one in Australia lol.
I use the thumbs, but it's totally personal preference. I can say this...do you hold a PlayStation controller with "pincer grip"???? - LOL ;)
Easier to fly harder to land on big planes , sorry about so many comments, but that’s what you get for a two hour video 😀 love it . Only you and Mr Ryan get this kind of attention from me. So with the AR637TA -- Avian ESC --- and a NX8 radio. Can reverse thrust be set up on this plane? Weather through the TX or the esc programmer. I know how to do it but can it be done in this plane with this hardware is the question. Thanks in advnace
yeah, but I thought it already had an Avian ESC???
I don't know if you can WITHOUT upgrading the firmware...then you should be able too, if the ESC is Avian (which I believe it is)
You will always get a thumbs up from me on your control.
Thanks! Even when I crash into a 100 foot tall tree ;) LOL!!!
thanx for the COOL video, and props to your cameraman er woman

Just 'lurve' your video clips Brian, delivered with such verbal enthusiasm. I feel now is the time to compliment your cameraman, or should l say camerawoman? I think your wife does a fantastic job behind the camera. She keeps the rc planes dead central in frame, and compliments your flying. Get her to stand up and take a bow. You are the perfect combo.
Thanks Len! She is very good, and very proud of her hard work!!!
Glad you hit 100 k

Oh yeah.. Disisit! She is just dialed in perfectly.. =) Nice flight!
Agreed! She's great flying!!! No guesswork (Well flap to elevator correction a bit, and expo a bit....but beyond those subjective items)
-4 degrees and flying... I tried flying earlier this week when it was 46 degrees. (or 50 degrees warmer than in your video) I stopped by the hospital on the way home to have them check me for hypothermia and if I had frostbite on my fingers. Before they threw me out, they asked if I owned a jacket and gloves.
I told them I thought gloves were just a fad, and to fly RC planes you have to wear shorts and t shirt.
Nice!!! LOL ;)
If you want to simulate -4 degree flying, just take some ice and throw it in your drawers right before flying, this will help you really experience the pain and suffering involved - LOL!
@@BrianPhillipsRC I keep thinking you and Esteban and maybe your camera crew will Road Trip to the south one winter. I want you to see my hometown. It’s in between Tampa and Orlando. My wife refers to it as- (hang on, I wrote it down so I wouldn’t forget) Here it is! “The shithole where Jeff grew up.” I still refer to it as Lakeland.
(She, I think, didn’t like the 100 degree temps and the constant 170% humidity...)
Hello brian I have a bind question. I purchased an nx10 transmitter I want to connect it to my RTF apprentice sts. Do I need a bind plug?
I think you need a bind plug, but I honestly cant tell. Mine is old enough that I WOULD need one, but not 100% sure if they upgraded the receiver in there. I know you CAN use a bind plug if you wish.
Can you tell me how to replace retract? When I remove old retract, wire disappears into the wing with no apparent access to the plug. Thank you!
You have to make a tough decision...do "surgery" on the retract to re-land the wire inside of the new one, or fix the wing after you get the wires to go where they need to go. It's a tough call.
I sometimes remove the wire, or cut it, then splice it back on, but most of the time, I just pull the TAPE on the wing, then I can see where the wire goes, and just get to the next connector.
...but, full disclosure, I haven't replaced these retracts, so I can't say for certain.
Beautiful plane
It sure is!
Way to go Brian & team!!
Thanks!
Nice bird, awesome once again...
Thanks! She sure is!!!
I just got this same plane. It being my first warbird I’m having a hard time figuring out how to counter the Pfactor. Do you have any tips suggestions or anything I could get to help with that? Thank you for all your help and your videos are great both educational and your side comments are comical.
For future flights with the AR637T/A (on this or other planes), can you give us a flight where you use the voltage warning telemetry where you'll be at storage on landing. i.e. can you setup a single cell voltage warning (is this possible or must it be pack voltage?) at like 3.5 or so to account for sag, but then landing will show the 3.8 per.
We would, but it was literally painfully cold, so on the second thoughts video, we will try to do this for you Tyler. Thanks!
OMG !.... The Paint Job looks like the Focke Wulf came out of either the Dynam or New Bright Toy Factory !
I will do the dynam too, if you're curious ;) Coming soon TOO
@@BrianPhillipsRC … LOL ! No. I was saying that the Paint Job on the E-Flite FW-190 is just as Horrific as that on the Dynam FW-190. The paint work is so Ugly and not even close to the paint work on the Kurt Tank Focke Wulfs of WWII.
Gorgeous Bird!!!! Better than the P-51 Imo. I hope they do a Me-109 some day.
I like them both, but like this livery better ;)
Thanks Brian and Camera Crew. Another great video. Looks like a great plane.
Thanks - it really is! Flies very good, but also LANDS well, something the P-51 didn't do as well with ON PAVEMENT...on grass she was perfectly fine, BTW.
If you had to pick between the A-10 Warthog or the FW-190 which one would you choose? I would be flying off of grass only.
Great Job 🥶 .........⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Thanks William! We might get some HOT weather of just under freezing Saturday ;) It's -17 F on my weather app on my phone right now - LOL!!! Only a ~50 degree swing!!!!
Just wow 😮
Thanks!
Nice Brian,
So how do you like this plane vs. P-51 flight profile ? Also i purchased the 7000 6s also how you like that battery vs weight...reason in bought it for my 70 mm A10 thunder bolt.. hoping for a longer flight. i like this plane for my field yes grass short but wheel paints . Easy assemble, but i want you settings. of course.
The P-51 is much harder to land, but it flies good too.
That planes is awesome. I have a question for you Brian I need to fix a crack on my Eflite Maule. Do you know if it’s ok to use like a thin to medium CA glue to fill in the crack?
Thin will RUN. If you use MEDIUM it will BETTER fill the crack. If you want to flow some thin into a tight crack, you can push the two parts together for a second or two, OR add some kicker (first) and you'll get some of it to setup REAL QUICK....thus acting more like MEDIUM.
Keep in mind, foam safe, thin CA will heat up pretty good when you apply kicker, so the foam safe will sometimes be less foam safe with this chemical reaction, so be prepared for some shenanigans ;)
Alright sounds good. Thank you for your help😄
Did you have a issue with not getting enough elevator input? If not do you know what I can do to fix it?
You might be a bit NOSE heavy? Also, if not enough, you can change the control horn position to make more deflection.
Zero degrees....... I dream of zero degrees.... Its minus 11 in London.... You 2 are so lucky to have a HEAT WAVE...
Stay well
Brian
-11 C or F? Brian is certainly talking about F and he said 0 wich is -17.78C! Whohastheheatwafenow? 😁
It was -10 F here this morning...we were filming at -4 F for this video ;)
the swirls on the spinner are for ground ops so no-one walks into it. I work for an big airline with painted spinners birds still love to fly into engines,
Oh, I see! I've heard something about the birds, but maybe that was an experiment???
I flew here yesterday (torquay Australia) @ 85c at the beach with the power glider
....can you send some of that heat over here for us ;)
Ok... its in the way but with delivery times, it may take a month or two!
Ahh camera crew your fab - you need a warm up hug!!
I agree!
Hi Brian,
I just thought about, may some kind of troubleshooting video, is that possible?
As a simple example, the plain is tipping to the left, what would be the right countermeasure?
As another example, sometimes you‘re saying the plane need more elevator, but how do you see/feel it?
Kind regards,
Tim
Oh, I see....
So when I see the plane tipping to the right, I apply LEFT aileron by clicking the trim button and then letting off the sticks to see if I corrected enough, then I repeat.
Same is true for if the plane is diving when I let go of the sticks, then I trim the elevator DOWN a few clicks, and let off the sticks to see what happens...enough, good, not enough apply more...too much (starts going up) apply some down elevator.
As for YAW, this can be tricky. You can see the plane veering to the left, and after adjusting the right rudder, you might see that the plane keeps rolling to the left, so now some right ailerons, until it stops that veer.
This is a practice makes perfect, kinda thing. You have to get up in the air and figure this out with practice. If you can get help to adjust trim while you keep on the sticks, it is helpful if there's a LOT of trimming necessary OR if you're not very skilled at flying yet.
I could see showing this more for beginners, on another simpler, SLOWER plane at some point.
Thanks Mr Brian and Camera crew for braving the weather .Have a wonderfulday.
Hey Brain really love this plane so would recommend the 5000 30c 6s battery for this plane ? Love your videos keep up the great work

Brian, I wanted a battery I could fly in both the 190 and the A-10. My store recommended the 4000 mah G2 50c. Top of the range for the A-10 but kinda small for the 190. Will it be okay? I don’t fly too crazy/fast. Thanks
4000 6S bit.ly/3zGrhh8
Yes. 4000 is the way to go if you want both, BUT the flight time will be low with the FW190. It's a monster, like probably 2 to 2.5 times the size of the A-10, just fyi...
Good luck Jack!
@@BrianPhillipsRC Thanks, I’ll be buying a bigger battery I guess:). I need a second 6s anyway…. 2 minutes goes by way too fast!
I just bought this plane. this is my first plane with 6S batteries (also the most expensive one I buy myself). thanks to the sales! I have the smart charger 2100 is it enough to charge 6S batteries? I have a smart G2 5000mah 30c battery is that enough? what do you recommend me?
Yes, but you need to have an adapter to go from IC3 to IC5 so you can plug in the battery. Other than that, it's perfectly fine!
How does the size compare to the Turbo Timber Evolution? You talked about how big a 1.5 meter plane is but the Timber is the same size and I personally think the Timber is perfection, of course that is minus the overheating issues it has.
Similar to this, but the landing gear a TALL on this plane, while the TAIL is super tall on the turbo timber evo 1.5m - so about the same size, but hangar rash on the Turbo Timber would be no biggie, while it'll really piss you off on this absolute looker!!!!!!
I have the T28 and have some experience with that as my only warbird and some experience on a Kunai glider. Would this be a small or large step up in difficulty?
Yes, LARGE. This plane is not BAD flying, by any stretch, but it's harder by a LONG ways than the T-28. I haven't flown the Kunai, so I can't say for sure against that plane, but I WANT THAT ONE!!!
This plane just need to be landed perfectly every time for long life with those AMAZING LOOKING long bogeys.
bprc.me/Fw190
@@BrianPhillipsRC Okay, good to know. If I wanted to move into foamy warbids like this FW190 what would be a step up from the T28? Preferably a taildragger.
The Kaunai is a joy to fly. Get one if you can find it. Parts are hard to come by though. It flys like it is on rails irl. If you fly it more like a glider I have been able to keep mine up for 30mins on 1300mah. 900mah I think will balance better tho. The RX you get also needs to be tiny to fit inside it. It is so rediculously stable it is insane. The glide is fast, but super flat. The distance it can fly from just throwing it is incredible. Much more locked in than any foamy because of the plywood wing.
Hi Brian, great video, great plane. Question: with the low temperatures, how much less performance (time) do you have on your batteries in general? Is there a low temperature where you say "no flying today"? Cheers from Switzerland!
I can say it's something, but to say how much, I'd be really stretching. I can say so far the SMART packs have been better by almost every measure, so maybe they will handle lower temps too???
I don't want to mislead by guessing.
Fly here in ne Ohio all winter on skies if below freezing I cut 1 minute off flite time never had a problem! Better to be safe than sorry
Great looking plane
Hi gerry !!
@@karenschlosser3370 👋
It sure is!
@@BrianPhillipsRC HI!! You are a gereat pilot!! Love your videos!!
Brilliant
Thanks!!
@@BrianPhillipsRC The flying isn't bad either.
That's my dream r/c plane right there lol, well one of em
Do it ;) It's great! The P-51D 1.5m was way more challenging in general, especially on landings, but this one is so much better in that aspect. They're both good for flying, but this one makes it less scary to land.
@@BrianPhillipsRC I'll definately be checking it out, and hoping I can find it in a complete RTF vs having to get the radio, servos, and whatever else seperate.
How long do you personally feel like some one should spend on their say first or second plane before moving onto something like is
Totally depends on how fast the new pilot is progressing beyond their first plane. If you're getting bored, it's a good indication, you're ready to move up. Don't wait till you're 100% comfortable, or you'll never move up. It needs to stretch you as a pilot, or you will just stay where you are.
Yesssssssssss, such nice, much like.
;)
Hey Brian, Does the FW 190 have reverse thrust ?
Just put mine together but no lights or ailerons on the wing tips are working. Any suggestions
Maybe the plug got yanked out in the mess of wires on the Rx???
@@BrianPhillipsRC did some looking at the wires and found a wire that was loose in the servo lead. Then no flaps or gear was working
Hola Brian, excelente vuelo

Not so much, but I try to verbally say what I'm doing. I show some tips and tricks for handling P-Factor in some of my earlier war-bird videos (T-28 1.2m & P-47 1.2m playlists come to mind.)
HH website says these are shipping again next month (June '23). There's nothing in the description of the 100A Avian ESC about thrust reverse for this beauty, though. Does anyone know, for sure, that'll be available? You spend that much $$$ on a plane, you really want to make sure she doesn't roll, roll, roll away on your landings. TIA 👍
PS LOVE this plane. It's only Mt. Rushmore of "someday" planes.
