This channel has helped this 65 year old get back into this. Health keeps me out of the real cockpit so the hobby and Brian and his wife have made this new technology easier to understand. I know the lingo so when guys help me at the field I can speak the DX language. Love the enthusiasm.

Thanks Ted! This modification helps a lot with orientation while flying too, which was something I didn't expect. Looks so cool!
At least no more mosquitos. The LEDs shimmer like they are real hot. Q-tips are nice to take the glue off of my models. I used to wait until the glue set then use sand paper but this is much better and you sure do not want sand paper on these planes. One tuff landing gear doors would think they would brake off on landing on grass or snow.

Already back to 100% ;) Super easy fixes, and I was super lucky to get her down "flat"!!!
OMG, that was so sweet. When the camera was on the exhaust, and you had full power it looked like heat was distorting the image when it must have just been the air movement causing the refraction. Plus, there was a slight flicker at the end during the throttle reduction...totally scale, purposeful or not. Much love!

As a Pensacola native I love my Blue Angels! Great video and superb flying but I must say, seeing that baby fly and land in the snow is a bit awkward to me! LOL! Its beautiful out there where your at but burrrr! 82 here on the Gulf coast today and I got a little chilly when the sun set! Love the flying and instructions! Only negative is you motivate me to go out and buy something I dont know how to fly!!!!

That does not sound like an electric plane! It’s hard to believe I was in Des Moines August 23 it was getting close to 100°, and now you have snow. Originally from Minneapolis so I know sometimes they’ll be snow on the pumpkin. Great video great job camera crew.

Hey thanks for posting! As far as the tape goes... I have used all kinds and this works the best! No it isnt espensive😂😂😂 but is easy to get off with no residue left over and you can tear it easily. Also want to note that there is no problem showing the card but I really appreciate you being concerned about showing that on air! 👍🏽👍🏽 Show my name, email and website with no worries ok? Also the Firey Booty is the only LED Afterburner out there right now that will not hurt your performance! Can’t say that for the others. I am still watching the videos so will possibly edit this more...

Brian! Is there a way to get a Flap and Flaperon set up, more like you were doing in with the F-16 80mm, working on the F-18,( I know the F-16 doesn't have Flaps), . I don't see it as being an available set up in the aircraft setup list. Or, is that why you are trying to do the mixing at the end of the last vid on this F-18, where by getting the Stabilators to actuate the flaps more or less as you flare/pitch, while in that selected mode?
You can do it with Flapperon MODE and they mix in FLAPS...but you have to wipe the Rx to factory defaults. It'll be a lot of work.
Hey Brian, I know this video is 2 years old, but I just got the gooniac afterburner.. I got it all installed and fired up, but went out after about 10 seconds and could not get it to fire up again? I was sent with no switch on mine... Any suggestions? I've sent an email to Ray last week but still haven't heard back yet. Thanks Jeff

We film on my Galaxy S9, and use Fotowelt WM100 PRO (Lapel mics - amzn.to/3gdgXlX ), but we didn't have them on for the flight part. Pretty amazing the quality you can achieve with a cell phone!

Viewer request: See if X-fly will send you their 80mm EDF, it’s got more power than the stock F-18’s EDF. It’d be interesting to see if you preferred it’s flying characteristics with the higher kv motor.

I’m just curious about what you would think about flying the F-18 with the higher KV motor, would you still need to ride the throttle as much or would the higher KV motor make recovery time quicker and make it fly so you don’t need to ride the throttle as much as you do on the stock setup.

I'm surprised I haven't' seen anyone program in full span flaps for takeoff/landing. I'm thinking about doing it on my 70mm F/A-18F,
It's not that easy on this setup. Not impossible, but it's a whole lotta work. I can fly from our short runway without the full span flaps, but it would be cool!
Just got it figured out for takeoff flaps, I reduced the deflection since it is full span, for landing, ailerons go back up to normal (for now). Won't be flying mine until I get some more edf experience though. I've yet to maiden my Viper. Just toying around right now...

Me too! I've only had issues with this and maybe one other EDF that had the EC5 connectors installed.

See how annoying that tape is on the motor wires??? Thats why I use the tape that I do... 😂😂😂 Also Use Regular Medium or Thick CA to secure the Afterburner to the motor...also make sure to move the head of the zip tie in line with the motor wires...

Geez Brian you really think this plane needs more weight, i flew mine once and it feels like its about to fall out of the sky
It's a bit anemic. If you get the speed up first, you can make her fly like God intended her to fly, but I honestly now find that this plane probably needed 8S or a 90mm edf to perform properly.

I needed it to fall a BIT faster, so I could get lined up with the runway - Oh Well - now I know how the aircraft carrier pilots feel ;)
