    Fantastische reviews. Daar heb je wat aan! "Jammergenoeg" ben ik linkshandig en is het werken met de T-ruler voor mij een probleem.
    Ik zie de getallen altijd op zijn kop en dat werkt fouten in de hand. Jammer dat er niet twee schalen zijn, voor rechts- én linkshandigen.
    Nogmaals complimenten voor je heldere en nauwkeurige tests en beoordelingen. Petje af.

    I have a 3 piece INCRA ruler set. And just like you, I found a good use for the thicker aluminum ruler.
    I use the SAE imperial system in the US. But there are many occasions when I find myself converting to the METRIC system and using that scale.
    This is especially true when I started pre-drawing plans and counting pixels. For accuracy to 1/32 ND of an inch I have to go to 1280 pixels per inch.
    In the metric system it's already Base 10 and easier to divide the dimensions of a project.
    The only downside is that I have my lumber in imperial so I have to keep changing and comparing between the two systems.

    • @HookedonWood
      @HookedonWood  Před 4 lety +1

      Hi Tim, We are not used to Imperial at all and it look very difficult to work with from our point of view. But perhaps it is only that we are not used to work with it. But I like the mm better.
      I agree with you on the thicker ruler. I really think they complement each other.

    Thank you for sharing your experience with Banggood tools! I have just one question: What size pencil are you using on the T-rulers? I have several 0.5 mm pencils I brought back from Japan, and they are too thick to use with the rulers. I can't imagine that anything less would last longer than one score on anything other than very smooth mdf or paint grade plywood.

    You could mill a bevel on your large red T rulers if the thickness bothers you. They're made of aluminium anyway and almost any decent router bit will cut that without any issues. I've done it on one side of an old straight ruler I got from a garage sale.

    Great series, I buy sometimes from Aliexpress that has the same tools, but it is confusing how many offer the same at slightly different prices and they all use the same pictures. The price is on average 1/3 lower though. One remark (not sure if somebody made it already) real stainless steel is non-magnetic. So ye need (rusting) ferro in a piece of metal to make it magnetic.

    • @chrisneate6995
      @chrisneate6995 Před 2 lety

      The most common grades of stainless are non-magnetic, but some other grades (particularly in the 400 series) are magnetic. They have a different crystal structure but that doesn't mean they're not "real" stainless steel.

    Hi, Dennis. Excellent, excellent videos. I'm working my way through all of them. Also, have already bought some tools on Banggood, based on your ratings.
    A little off topic, but I'm curious as to what the size of your work shop is -- just overall dimension is good enough.
    Second question is -- are there any fatal flaws to its sizing. Sure, bigger is usually better, but curious if you'd stay with the same size or would you absolutely make it bigger if you were building it over again. I'm asking because I'm in the process of planning a dedicated shop building in my back yard, and I don't want to just make a big building if you're happy with the size of your shop.

    • @HookedonWood
      @HookedonWood  Před 3 lety

      Hi Ray,
      please visti my site for a more detail look at my workshop dimensions hookedonwood.online/Frequently-asked-questions/
      About the second part of your question:
      I am going to build a new workshop, a bigger one. So, I want to have a larger workshop. But it all depends on what you want to make.
      In my workshop I can make almost all things the way I want it till a size of 160cm long. When I want to make something longer, sometimes I have to change my design because I can not make all cuts at that size. Now I work more with massive wood, and therefore I need to place some extra machines like the jointer/planer and a bandsaw. This works in this space, but I have to open the door if I want to put a 2 meter board thru my jointer. So, if you want to work with smaller things I really like working in my workshop and there is a lot that you can do. I want to possibility to make projects of 250cm long like bigger cabinets and because of that I need a bigger space. space to cut it, space to place it temporarily and space to assembling it. My new workshop will be 10 x 6 meter. I hope this is big enough for what I want now and with some extra space If I need it in the future.

    Ik snap je conclusie volledig maar ik heb zelf toch wat bezwaren met betrekking tot de goedkope china-producten, vooral omdat ze goede ideeën goedkoop namaken. Ik heb zelf de fout gemaakt door een Roofus kloon te kopen terwijl ik dacht de echte te kopen. Prijsverschil was factor 3 ongeveer. Toen ik er achter kwam dat het een nepper was die wel met beelden van Roofus de producten aan de man bracht heb ik gelijk een echte Roofus aangeschaft. Het verschil in degelijkheid is enorm :-( Nu is dat bij T-rulers niet echt een issue maar toch. Maar, prima informatieve video, erg nuttig! Misschien moet ik je mijn Roofus en kloon eens sturen voor een vergelijkend warenonderzoek ;-)

      Hi,
      Bedankt voor je commentaar.
      We zitten echt wel een beetje op dezelfde lijn. Laten we vooropstellen dat een imitatie als echt verkopen meer richting oplichting neigt. Of misschien is het dat wel.
      Ik zeg dan ook regelmatig dat niet alles uit China sprookjes zijn. Dat is ook waar mijn idee vandaan kwam om deze reviews te maken.
      Als hobbyist heb veel producten niet "vaak" nodig. Maar je hebt ze wel nodig omdat het die enkele keer dat klusje veel makkelijker of zelfs mogelijk maakt. In dit soort gevallen vind ik de producten uit China een uitkomst. Maar ik houd ook erg van mooie dingen en van innovatieve producten van toonaangevende merken. Groeten, Dennis

      Hi, I think PEC are good products. You can consider all INCRA products also as accurate. It is a very nice brand with High End woodworking tools. The 'NEW" T-ruler from this review is almost the same as the INCRA in terms of what you can do with it. It is a specific ruler but I use it pretty much. Especially the shorter ones. So if you work with it, I think you will appreciate it. The only drawback is, that they are fragile. In my opinion you can go wrong with the Incra or the 'NEW" T-ruler.

      Hi Vambo,
      Thanks for clearing that up! You are right that it is not made of alu. At 6.57 I say that it is made from some kind of steel alloy.
      I do not know that much about steel and its characteristics. But a lot of products that I test are not that magnetic then products made in US. Do you know why? and if this is a good or bad thing?
      Thanks for your comment.

      Thanks, I believe it is some kind of steel alloy, but it reacts very slow on a magnet. So it is also a bit softer than that of the INCRA. That said. I think it is strong enough! And you have to be careful with this kind of T-rulers anyway, they are fragile.

    I really have to stop watching these videos. Every time I watch one of your reviews, I jump onto Aliexpress and buy something. I'm going broke, but my tool collection is getting bigger. Lol.
    I used to buy a lot from Banggood but discovered they don't always honor the pricing on their website. I've been charged more for something because they raised the price after I placed my order. Because of this, I haven't ordered from them in over a year and have put them on my email spam list.

    One remark though: stainless steel is not magnetic, so if the magnet sticks to it, it cannot be stainless steel.

    • @HookedonWood
      @HookedonWood  Před 4 lety +6

      Hi Fabian,
      No counterfeit is when also the original name is on it. That said, I can name very much articles from well known brands that are almost look the same, bandsaws, table saws, rulers, fences, what do you think about plunge saw, they all look the same, festool, Makita, Mafell, but when a Chinese company comes with this kind of product it is counterfeit. I do a review about Chinese woodworking goods because they are certainly not all good. I have a lot of stuf from well known brands and I love them. But I also have some stuf from China. Mostly products that I do not use much but are very handy to have. I do not know when it is allowed to make almost the same products. I do not produce them ore sell them. I just make reviews so when people buy, I hope that they avoid buying those who are not good. All the pocket rulers from all the brands are the same, so why should this T-ruler be a copy. This T-ruler is in all the aspects different from Incra. The only thing they have in common is that the ruler is from an aluminium alloy and that looks the same as stainless steel and It has the shape of a T. The only thing that is exact the same is the scale of the mm.

    • @sheilbwright7649
      @sheilbwright7649 Před 4 lety +2

      The name "Incra" does not appear nor does any Incra logo so it is not a trade mark breach. Incra holds no patent on a t-ruler so it's not a patent breach. There is no copyright in this scale of numbers so it is not a copyright breach. Nobody buying this thinks they are buying Incra so it is not "passing off". There is no plausible way of calling this counterfeit. This is capitalism anyone is free to build a better or cheaper mousetrap.
