    I visited the US about 15 years ago before you could buy Incra products in the UK. I visited a Rockler store in Torrance, Orange County very near to our company facility in Anaheim CA.
    I bought a 12' Rule the 6" T Rule and the 6" Protractor the Incra Jig fence positioner and Mitre 1000SE Mitre fence for my router table. All just fantastic tools!
    The US was at least 10 years ahead of the UK in terms of marking tool technology! I still love using my Imperial Incra tools!

    I took the plunge and purchased all of these rules with the exception of the protractor. I can honestly say without fear of contradiction that these Incra rules are the most accurate and easy efficient to use bar none and I mean none. If anyone is frustrated with parallax errors, awkward to use and have guaranteed repeatability then these are the only rules you need as nothing else comes close. One of my favourite Incra rules [actually scrap that last comment] is the centre finder rule. There are a few others on the meerkat but none come close to these on any level. For the record I’m not being sponsored by Incra and I purchased all of my Incra products with my own hard earned wonga.
    At the beginning of this video it’s mentioned that the Incra rule can be used as a compass !! That maybe the case but I couldn’t recommend putting anything sharp other than a .5 millimetre pencil through any of the precision holes for fear of damaging it. Theses rules are made of satin stainless steel but are exceptionally thin so care needs to be taken with them and in so doing will last you a lifetime.

    What I also love about the Incra measure/marking rules is that I can use them for my visual art sketches/drawings/paintings. THAT’S why I’m so stuck on measurement accuracy. Also, my high school Drafting teacher was very specific about us having our measurements correct: I kept drawing the drill punch point off by 3 degrees, which (had the drawing been a ‘real world’ draft) would have made a very poor, inaccurate machined punch; and as manufacturing is super expensive and labor-intensive, it would cost my imaginary company a loss. My point is that there are other applications for which these wonderful tools can be used. So...off my soapbox now, lol.

    Great video guy! Hey not that it really makes much of a difference... but I think the T-Track on your Incra Protractor is on backwards? There's that slight ridge along the edge of the T-Track that the ruler/protractor butts up against as a built in precision reference edge when you turn the thumb screws to secure it to the t-track/ fence... looks like your protractor may be ontop of that slight ridge in the t-track, instead of sitting flush & backed up against it.

  • @michaelrobinson9643
    @michaelrobinson9643 Před rokem

    My Incra T has made me question where I am meant to cut in relation to the marked line. If 0 is the reference edge... and I mark at 5mm, do I cut before, on or behind the line?
    Also I still use a sliding square rule to line up my track etc... and this is what made me begin ? where I'm measuring or cutting. When I set my sliding rule should the mark be visible or inside the edge? We use the end (zero) to mark... so I think the set distance should be inside the edge?
    Some may say a consistent approach is all that matters, yet I use CNC cut parts at times and I am wanting a second opinion on the above :)

    I have the Incra T-Rule "Pro" (imperial/metric) which I neglect to use often, I just wish the blade was thicker/stiffer. It feels too delicate for the price! I think I would have been getting *just* the metric version as it makes it overall less bulky. Shame the Tiny-T doesn't have a metric version either.

    • @GuysShop
      @GuysShop  Před 7 lety

      I have had these for years, and have never had any issues at all with the thickness of the steel on them. Just like any of my quality tools, I tend to baby them however. And yes, it's a shame the tiny t isn't available in metric, as it's the one I use the most. Get one and come over to the dark side Paul! HaHa

    • @TheWoodKnight
      @TheWoodKnight Před 7 lety

      Oh I believe you that they're probably indestructible (or at least highly durable), but it doesn't help me feel overly cautious around them! Until they get a micro-furlong version, I'm not switching.

    @timnels8638 Před 4 lety

    The only issue i have with these is the need for a #5 mechanical pencil, the lead breaks to easily. This tool works good for maple or poplar but get a dark walnut or most other dark wood and you have to press to hard on the pencil to make the line visible and the lead breaks.

  • @madsighntist14
    @madsighntist14 Před 5 lety

    I commend your showing of this Tooling Company. As a former Floor Mechanic, All my tool boxes had At Least the 3 inch long "Mini Tee". I have both the Metric Scale as well as Imperial.
    Are you aware that the company also makes the "Wood Pecker" series of tools? Billet CNC Hard Anodized and they are considered "Collectable Items" for those who buy for "Non-Use". However I USE my 3-inch WoodPecker Tee Square, and it stays in my Apron pocket unless being used!!!
    My ONLY complaint is they chose the .5mm pencil: I had already "Settled" upon .9mm Pentel Pencils as my "Pencil of choice. :-) (My Try Squares all have a One mm hole in the groove @ exactly One inch Pre Incra Tools, As a Floor Installer that One hole in my Tri-Square made the difference between "Close" and ~On the Spot~!

    Trying to decide between the 12in T vs plain ruler.
    As the edge I am referencing off may not be perfectly straight along the whole length I use a 1m Aluminum straight edge instead. The obvious choice is the bare ruler + straight edge, but the T ruler would save time. Jnot sure it will be accurate enough for my specific use case. Don't want to buy two rulers.

      go to an art or drafting supply store and buy: draftsmans Prismacolor(trademark) "Turquoise" push button led holder pen. then buy a led box with "TURQUOISE" #4H leds(12 leds to a box). These leds hold sharpness and are perfect with the 18" Inca rule i use to draft waterlines for forms directly to interior plywood i use in my canoe making business(53 years using these tools). Also at welding supply stores look for "Silver Streak" leds great for metals and marking darker hardwoods where plain graphite leds don't show up well (colored leds as well as Silver Streak are softer and not good for Inca rules.
