A few products from this review were sent to me by Banggood for testing.
This does not mean that I do get all my products. I review also a lot of products I bought myself.
I started these reviews because from my experience not every tool from China was worth buying. So I wanted to make in-depth reviews to show you which products you should consider and which product you better leave alone. The fact that Banggood sent me products occasionally does not change the way I make my reviews. I still give in-depth reviews and give you my honest opinion!
On this, you can count on!
I have a good experience with Banggood.com and they have a lot of woodworking tools nicely organized on their site.

It's nice to see something that isn't just a clone, ripping off someone else's research and design work. This actually adds and improves.
I absolutely love the premise of this series. Thank you for these.
Great video as always Dennis. I like the shorter and more focused format, and look forward to the next episode
Hi Dennis. Thanks for another excellent review. The doweling jig from your last review just arrived and the roundover plane is on its way. Looking back at 30 years being self employed as a cabinet maker its unbelievable with what kind of tools we had to make due. Those quality items were just out of reach at a budget. The only problem now is that we all overspend on really nice tools we might need once a year to play around with. I might have to start my own youtube channel now which will be called "Hooked on Dennis" offering help and support to people like myself spending way too much money on tools they might never need! Keep up the great work and we all can't wait for a video of your new shop!
Haha, I’m getting clever in my old age. I managed to get my wife to start watching you 😊 She says “we” have to get one of these. Thanks Dennis. I think this will be well used in my business 👍🏻
Good TIP, I will try to make it more watchable for women's next time so I can explain a bit more why you can not live without a certain tool.:-))
You're a smart guy, dude! 😂
thanks for all your efforts Dennis. I have bought a lot of tools with your recommendations on your channel, and none of your recommendations has ever let me down. I am on a self teach route. Your guidance means a lot to people like me. God bless your heart.
I was very curious to see your test for this after your insta-teaser. And I'm not dissapointed. Great video as usual. 👍🏻
I love that you find these things and bring attention to them. Also, thanks again for the closed captioning!
Your videos are among the most thorough and informative out there. I preordered the trimmer.
I hope to visit Holland again some day. Such a beautiful place.
Yet another great video. Since getting my dowling jigs, I have made a 5mm drill holder from brass to slide into the 8mm bush. It is only half successful as the bushes are very hard and the brass soft. Now you have pointed out the 5mm bushs are available.
The edge trimmer looks very interesting, it is like my old wood Radi-Plane made in California. The only thing with my old plane is that they have two blades in tandem, one behind the other. The first takes a ruff cut, the second a finished cut. What I like about the plane you reviewed is the cutter and cutter setting. Looks very good.
Bedankt.
Hey Dennis. Another great review! I followed your recommendations for several products and have never been disappointed. I just ordered this plane and it looks to be another winner.
Thank you SO much for all the quality information from a new sub, that found this channel a few days ago, and I'm overall very impressed. (y)
I'm a new woodworker, with a very limited budget, and knowing it can be expensive to buy cheap and useless tools, and high-end tools are out of my reach, I really, really appreciate all help to get good and affordable tools, and all the quality information you give us. (y)
Greetings from Denmark (y)
Good to know abut the 5mm guides for shelving as it makes the jig very usable for small jobs. Thanks for finding out Denis and another informative and entertaining video
Love your reviews and have bought a few of the tools you highly recommend. Can’t wait for the next one need some great clamps.
Excellent video my friend. Your channel has come a long way very quickly. I am impressed. Keep up the great work
As always Dennis has a great information when it comes to tools. Thank you kind Sir. I am going to look at this China tool and may buy it. It looks great.
Awesome video! I been getting back into woodworking and this information will help me when developing my wood business.
Beautiful little tool. Well thought out description and delivery of the video.
Super impressive! Thank you for the wonderful videos. Going to check out the rest of the tools offered. Be safe!
I had written off the dowelling jig because of the '8mm only' but now find it can do far more sizes than other jigs, even down to 4mm, so thanks for the update.
As usual, an excellent review. Thanks Dennis!
Thank you Dennis for this great review!
Also good that you gave information about the vat/duty issue here in europe.
Cheers! Lukas
Another great video Dennis, As always very informative.👍❤
Hi Dennis. Just discovered your channel! What an absolute wealth of well presented fantastic content. Subscribed straight away. Keep up the excellent work… it’s gold! 👍🏼👍🏼
Thanks Dennis. I am a relatively recent subscriber and I have come to enjoy your videos very much. Best wishes from Australia.
I love your reviews they are so in-depth
Thanks for sharing this great information and review for the planer
I am so glad that I found your channel! I was almost desperate to buy a Veritas chamfer guide for their low angle block plane, because it has been out of stock for a year. Apparently this video is a sign from above that it's time for me to take a closer look at Chinese instruments.
This is great video, keep hard working! Thank you Dennis!
Thank you for the dowel jig update.
Nice video again Dennis. Looking forward to the next one. Sounds interesting.
Great video as always it’s not a tool that I need but love watching your reviews
Thanks Dennis I was waiting for this
Another great review, thanks again Dennis!!
Nice to see the wood working equipment how it has changed over the years. 👍👍🥂
Thanks again for the great content. I truly look forward to finding out what you have reviewed. I have been considering one of these for quick jobs to avoid having to set up my router. As always you have given me great information to move forward.
Hi Denis, great content as ever - many thanks! One item I'm curious about is also made by Hongdui and are the clear cut stock guides for table saw. Similar to the Jessem ones but a better price. They may make a good subject for a video. Cheers!
Thanks for the review and heads up on this one Dennis!
I've wanted one of the woodpecker versions for a while but couldn't bring myself to pay the asking price. As you said, this one seems better designed at a fraction of the cost.
Just bought the planer on the strength of your review. Been looking for a decently priced, good planer like this for a long time. Decided to buy the scraper as well while I was at it.
I have two edge planes from Woodpeckers and I quickly realised that for consistent depth on different pieces some kind of scale is necessary. I ended up making a mark on the dial and the plane. Now I'm able to do deeper chamfers. Still it seems like this black one is a better tool.
I love this series!
And yet again an excellent video! What is the best fence for the hongdui miter gauge in your opinion? And looking forward to your review of the router lift & fence! But always looking forward to the next video from you…!
Marvelous tool and terrific presentation. Thank you!
That looks so good, great review, I'm going shopping now 😊
like usual, a very nice video and super advice.. thank you ! like usual stunnig job, keep it up
Thanks Dennis, i love my hondui scraper and i think they do nice quality tools.
i like your finds and reveiws i’m retired now but spent over 35 years working in the Commercial Woodworking Industry in the United States the Chinese as a whole over the years have really improved on their manufacturing and quality control
Looking forward to the clamp video.
Thanks Dennis.
Another well presented video full of useful information
Hi Dennis I would love to see a review of the "Hongdui Table Saw Roller Guide" attachment for the saw fence.
a great, thorough review of a product I'd never buy. I'll have to watch more of your videos.
Great recommendation Denis. Thanks
This is my new Favorite CZcams channel! I’m a big fan of Woodpeckers tools. I just can’t afford their stuff. They do make some awesome tools.…
I followed your lead and ordered one of these stunningly beautiful edge trimmers. Everything you said is true. I can’t comprehend how Hongdui can deliver such quality at this price, but they do. This is now my favourite tool, and I have to admit that many times I take it out in the evening just to hold it and admire! Thank you again, Denis. Brian (in Ottawa). 🇨🇦
It's easy to do when you only pay your human labor less than $10/day wages.
@@barnyardkh4 Average hourly rate for a CNC operator in Shenzhen is around 8$.
Very interesting, as usual..... Dennis, do You have any suggestion for a router sled such as Woodpecker's but on the cheap side ?
Nicely Done 😉👍🏽📐🔨🪚📝 Great Tool
Great video! Where would one find replacement cutters for the the DJ11S chamfer tool? Thank you!
Great stuff my friend!
Thanks Jonathan. Fan of your work!
@@HookedonWood new subscriber and fan. I'm going to bring these into my store. Just got off a call with the owner. Thank you so much for this woodpecker killer hahaha
Jonathan, please take a minute to watch this video: .czcams.com/video/R3K3RKn7yis/video.html you have a bigger audience and i think you will help a lot of woodworkers with it👍
@@HookedonWood can we have a zoom meeting?
Yes of course, please let's communicate further with mail. Hookedonwood@hotmail.com We see each other! Dennis
I have both the Hongdui scraper and mitre gauge, they are both great. I also have that cheap imitation chamfer (ep.22), piece of crap still wish I hadn't bought it before your review. Guess I am going to have to add the Hongdui Chamfer tool to my collection, really impressed with the tools coming from Hongdui so far.
Hi Dennis, I just wanted to thank you for making this series. Beyond the excellent information and consumer advice, I think you are performing a larger service. My partner and her family are Chinese, and they face a huge amount of casual racism and negative stereotypes. In the woodworking community this exists too, with chinese made things having all kinds of negative connotations, despite the fact we use a huge number of techniques and tools that originated in chinese carpentry.
Thank you for giving these tools fair reviews, and showing that there are in fact numerous excellent tools being made there, with attention being given to detail and quality. Small things like this can gradually change people's views and prejudices.
Thank you.
Thanks for your comment ✌️
Thanks Dennis. I am definitely a fan of Woodpeckers tools, but some of them are must haves while others are harder to justify. In this case, it looks like the Hongdui is a far superior product to them. It is much easier to change blades with and the ability to have two different blade types available in one plane body is a benefit. Also, I really like the ability to use off the shelf cutter blades. Thanks for the review...I had passed on the Woodpecker version, but this Hongdui corner plane looks compelling.
Thanks Dennis, A great video again, I'm sorry to say i do have the woodpeckers version of this plane and it does work great, but i like the way you can change out the different blades so easily compared to woodpeckers plane. my plane is much more intense to change from the round over to a chamfer blade and with yours you don't need to you have the best of both worlds in one! the new lock system and the depth scale adjustment is a winner and the price do i need to say anymore .
Hi.
Great video. Any ideas when next one ? About holdfast clamps?
Thanks
Great content buddy.
Saw your video by chance. Have been thinking why there are no videos on Chinese wood working DIY products.
Good to c what else is out there in the market. 👍
Very thoughtful design indeed 👍
Had a quick look into this after your Instagram post!
Very informative review, extremely well done. Just Subbed-Thank you very much ✅👍
Great video, however, I will stick to my block plane. However, the round edges option might tempt me in the future.
It's so refreshing to see such high-quality tools coming out of China. Love your videos. Thanx
thanks for your good review! can you also review a chinese track square?
Denis, are the blades for the scraper and the edge trimmer the same? The only replacement blades I can find on banggood are for the trimmer which I donlt have (yet... :) ).
Wow, what a great advantage this tool has over the Woodpeckers version.
Can you adjust the table saw miter gauge easily if it is not perpendicular to the table. The Incra version allows for adjustment. Thanks for a great series on China tools...
Very impressed!
Hongdui is continuing to surprise me. I can't wait for more products from them and hope they stay loyal to their commitment for high quality.
I agree. I hope the same. High quality and original designs
I want a set of those clamps that go in the bench holes!!! Where did you get those?? Edit to say I found the link in the description. Can’t wait to get those and one of these edge planes. Thank you!
I liked the shorter video mate Great review 👍👍👍👍👍
Bought one. Thanks Dennis
Thanks Dennis, I just got one of these for £75, now though I need to delay my shelving project for a month while it arrives :D Cheers
I don't even need one but what an excellent review. subscribed.
Also, the 5mm bushing means you can use self-cutting cam dowels directly without using those plastic inserts.
Perfect Video. Thank you very much.
Great video Dennis - love your work!
Just by the way, with the long version of the dowelling jig, is the spacing between holes 32mm?
Yes it is!
Great review. Nice channel, too; I am just getting into woodworking and just found this channel. Lekker bezig;! ;-)
Nice channel, thanks. I've started to look for some chinese stuff for wood, and this is an eceptional helpful. Subscribed and welcome.
Thanks for sharing your advice, certainly easier to change blades, is more innovative than the Woodpecker and the bonus is the price. Thanks again
Hi, would you personally use these rods/fittings (1.53) from banggood for customers cupboard making?
There are people here in the US that will say they would rather buy American but I’ll bet most American companies are having China make their products and then tack on a high price. Love your videos.
Thanks bro for your video
Ei Denis você é sensacional nas suas explicações, pena que você demora para colocar os vídeos, mas, meus parabéns!você é ótimo!um abraço de São Paulo!
I just received my Woodpecker version (I also ordered extra blades with different profiles) and so far I really like it. However; changing blades is a bit of a faf. I'm hoping I don't need to do that that often. What I do really like about the Woodpecker version; you can easily resharpen the blades. For my DIY work that may not be that big of an advantage.
Hey! Could you do a review on GanWei Palm Trim Router. It is like a festool domino but you can put your palm router into it. Thanks in advance and love your videos.
I've just ordered one was just wait to see you opinion. looking forward to seeing the clamp vid the new Hongdul bench clamp looks really good. did you get your setup gauge bars from bangood they sell some similar at axminster buy are about £50 more. thanks Dennis
Hi Chris, I got mine from Banggood. Look at my site if you want a link to that product. Cheers!
Thanks Denis, you just showed other people that the Chinese tools are not necessarily equal to cheap and low quality. As a hobby woodworker and Chinese I am surprised how did you find so many different Chinese tools..
Pleasantly, in most cases here, they are still cheap (to be fair), though of superb design and high quality.
@@maxwang2537 Not if this guy reviewed it! Prices for most of these things have gone up 20-35%! Possibly more due to covid but not entirely sure.
@@XxIcedecknightxX Might be true (I suspect so) but that’s another matter. Even if the reviews here are ‘responsible’ (partly or entirely) for the price rise, in my opinion those products deserve a better price comparing with their western counterparts.
Hey Dennis you're sending me broke, lol. Love your channel
Question: Why are the extra bushings sold at 2pcs when we need 3 for the jig? They should come in 3 pacs.
Can this be used to trim edge bending laminate excess?
The extra bushing are good news, especially the 5mmm.
Hi Dennis! I really like what you do. So, I bought the chamfer plane. Very beautiful product. I tried it just a little. Is there a way to zero out the scale? Now, while on zero it removes wood on the 45 and the round over is not the same. Not a big issue but it would be nicer if the plane did not remove any wood when on "0".
Agree, I use it as a reference scale, not as a depth setting. That would not work with the two different blades.
