      I saw Messi grinning slightly when Argentina conceded a second goal. And it looked like he was in disbelief. Same with Rapinoe. It's pretty easy to tell joyful grinning/smiling and smiling/grinning in disbelief.

      @@brucerehberger9080 The crying would come after the shootout, not as the shootout is ongoing. After the shootout, I indeed saw Rapinoe crying as then you would do.
      If you cry your eyes out during a penalty shootout, you lose focus.

    All Megan cares about is equal pay. Its even to a point where she has instilled that mentality into the younger generation. She completely deserves to go out in that fashion. Because she takes her actions off the pitch more seriously than the ones on it. If this team had a proper leader like Carli Lloyd after that Portugal game instead of dancing and celebrating, she would be destroying that locker room knowing that if Portugal didn't hit the post they would've went home.

    You all need to watch her interview a few months or so ago on her teammates' podcast, "Snacks" (Lynn Williams and Sam Mewis) - they actually ask her how she is so stone cold when she is making penalty kicks - as a veteran she breaks her mentality down for them. Then fast forward to after the loss to Sweden still out on the pitch, you will see the camera finding her going up to Lynn Williams and you know immediately what she is referring to with Lynn. Sadness in front of others...that hit when you saw her approach her mother and Sue Bird in the stands....also now posted by the public online. In short....Megan Rapinoe doesn't miss penalty kicks and yet....fate has her ending her career with a miss.

    The problem is not how Rapinoe reacted after missing the penalty. The problem is the entire team overall. You can't go 120 minutes without scoring a single goal. You don't put someone on the bench who hasnt touched the ball the entire game to take a game winning penalty for the team.

      The coach would have been castigated if he had not had Rapinoe in to take a penalty shootout. It didn't work out unfortunately.

    Sorry ladies, but her laughing is indicative of her caring more about herself than of her teammates and the US Soccer in general. You're rationalizing here. If my priority was the team and winning the game with my teammates, I'd have been furious at myself and my terrible performance.

    Because she may have realised that women’s football is horrible - and she probably remembered when a school boy team beat them.
    And the same school boy team would have won the World Cup easy !

    • @fuson7
      @fuson7 Před 9 měsíci

      "Women's football is horrible" = Anecdotal. You find it "horrible", but others don't. Quite frankly you have no basis other than your own opinion, which when trying to paint as fact, is rather insignificant.
      An U15 male team playing in the Women's World Cup, I still wouldn't bet any money on them winning given the fact that it's not just a scrimmage (which you're pointing out in reference to a "boy team" beating the US team), but it's a tournament involving actual intensity and competitiveness. Even so, it's not a valid comparison since an U15 male team (or any male team for that matter) wouldn't be competing in a *women's* world cup. There is a FIFA Men's World Cup & the FIFA Women's World Cup.

      @@fuson7 lol growing ?? It’s not growing organically, we are made to believe it’s growing because millions of pounds are being thrown at it in the name of equality.
      Why are the grounds not full ? Why are the tv figures shocking? Why are the sponsors not flocking to invest millions?
      Yes it’s growing artificially- but the men’s game was organic!! It grown because it was a man’s sport watched and played by the working man,
      If the women’s game was run solely of the revenue it makes it would be long dead.
      The truth is the women’s game only exists with the money of the men’s game.
      It’s facts - and facts don’t care about your feelings.

    • @fuson7
      @fuson7 Před 9 měsíci

      @@RealtalkManc Growth is always in flux and women's football is growing. Doesn't matter if you have ignorance, it doesn't deny the clear growth of the game.
      "Why are the grounds not full, Why are the tv figures shocking" etc
      All of these arguments pertains to the present, which doesn't deny future growth.
      "It was a man's sport"
      It's a sport largely played by man but is not a man's sport. All it takes to play the sport is a human, female or male, kicking a ball around. At the professional level, it needs skills (and comparing men and women is null when trying to discredit women's football in terms of growth) - During WW1, women started to play football for charity. Afterwards, it was banned again in England (that's just one country).
      Because the USA has invested more in women's football than any other nation, their team is brilliant in the women's game, and now that the world is catching up to the USA, the teams are starting to play more competitive. Again, don't try to bring males into this because they're not even playing in a *women's* world cup.

    This is the first time I’ve seen actual objective soccer-minded ladies come to the similar conclusion that a lot of us who don’t really go on one side of the other of this contentious issue. But things I’ve seen from MR Have just become unseemly and I have wonder why she’s chosen to be so divisive, except that she is so benefited from her positions and sadly by all the destruction that she’s eventually brought upon herself and the team. She says it is a sick joke … which I took her to the mean: what comes around goes around …and she knew immediately, which was why she laughed … she could not help herself, because I think she’s too self involved to do that …. plus what didn’t matter to her because the media loves her, she has money, she cannot go wrong. They will cover her and get her back just like they do so many people …I mean we have a man in the White House that has dementia and everybody’s going around acting like he’s fine. Just like to go around acting like the positions that she’s taken aren’t unreasonable and crazy at times that none of her positions are put on under any scrutiny from what I’ve seen… in many ways. She is a Joe Biden she’s Teflon she’s untouchable, and her decisions are not to be scrutinized. But now the joke is on her. Everything came so together that now she’s being exposed. It’s kind of sad because you do see the greatness in her.
