I have mixed feelings, wanted the U.S. to win, but also want the program to change and that required this loss. I also feel bad for the younger players that actually tried and were grateful for this opportunity to represent their country. I hope this will prompt changes, were they will recruit talented players that love representing us, rather than selfish influencers whose only interest is to virtue signal and increase their popularity. Watching Rapinoe laugh as she let the team down should be a lesson for those that supported keeping her in the team!

There are a lot of reasons why the American team lost. Tournament football is about momentum and to have played so poorly prior it often has a way of creeping in at crucial high pressure moments.
There was also dar too many outside football distractions, arrogance, the lack of support from the American football because most of the team refused to sing the anthem.
The Americans set the standard and the world has caught up. Sometimes this happens especially when the US team had played so poorly previously.

It was a great game between two of the best teams in the world & it went down to the final PKs. Sweden was the better team.

It just sucks because PK’s don’t reflect the way the game was played, and were it not for what was probably the game of Musovic’s career, the US would’ve won. Sweden’s defense was just okay, but credit to the team for hanging in until the very end.

I think people saying this was a humiliation were expecting the USWNT to win. Everyone on Fox Soccer and ESPN thought that they would win. I never did. I watch women's football all the time and Europe has caught up. The NWSL isn't the best place in the World to play anymore and that is where all the Americans play. I think these guys are shocked but I am not at all, they should have lost to Portugal. Playing Sweden was a bonus for me and they would have been destroyed by Japan.

This team had an amazing ability to make people dislike them. Nearly every comment is from American fans who wanted this team to lose. Rapinoe is the worst. Morgan isn't far behind. Women who play at a high school level but act like they are professional level footballers. Television commercials presenting them as super heroes despite the fact that they routinely get beaten by 16 year old boys. They don't scrimmage against u-18's because they would get injured.
Why make a point about women getting beat by teenagers? In no other sport do you expect a woman to put up a good fight against a man, so why this caveat against female soccer players? They have won the World Cup and dominated the game, of course they are basically "super heroes" as they were/are the world best at their sport. Most sensible people don't go around trying to ridicule Serena Williams, Katie Ledecky, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, Nelly Korda or other icons of their respective sports, so why try to do it with soccer greats like Rapinoe or Morgan?
