I think the actual reason as to why Kim couldn't fit in the dress was because it has no stretch. That dress was sewn on Marilyn. It was literally made for her

I don't understand why Kim didn't request a designer to make her a replica of the dress.
They did. She only wore the Monroe dress to walk the red carpet and up the steps to the met where they had a dressing room for her to change into the replica. Ripley’s loaned it to her and put out a statement that the dress was returned to them in the exact same way it was when she put it on (in a changing room just off the red carpet. She didn’t even sit down on the dress in the car ride over. She was only in it for 5-10 minutes.

The original nude illusion was lost, the symbolism of it being one of a kind for one woman wear only was ruined and it wasn't even that nice of an ensemble in the end. It was really baffling,but it's not all on her, Ripley's is just as culpable.

I can't believe how educated people have become on cosmetic procedures in the last ten years alone. It's also hard to believe how common such procedures are. Nobody considered Marilyn Monroe “Fat”. Idk why people still say that when we can see what she looked like. The whole narrative of her being “plus sized” came from the fact that she reportedly wore a size 12. What people don’t understand is that clothing sizes have changed drastically since the first half of the 20th century. What was a size 12 in 1950 is much closer to a size 4/6 today. She was never “fat”. People just don’t understand that vanity sizing changed the way women’s clothing sizes are perceived.

I also think her being exposed of editing the voicemail of the call between Kanye and Taylor Swift had a negative impact on her image. Taylor was literally bullied into hiding all while Kim incited the hate online. She still hasn't apologized to Taylor (and I highly doubt she will) after humiliating her like that.

Even if someone with Marilyn's exact body type and size put the dress on today, it would expedite the fabric aging process rapidly. It may have been a recreation because it’s incredibly rare for a touring exhibit to have a garment that old, but it was so shocking to see at that age. I was always really fascinated with history, and imagined what it would be like to live in different time periods. And there, right in front of me, was one of the things those people would have *lived in* during those days, and the idea of that was so much more important in my head than the art pieces from that era that we saw. Because those people would have looked at the tapestries and drapes from time to time, but they would always be looking at dresses like that, and judging each other for things those dresses symbolized that I couldn’t even understand the context of.
Fashion history is just so much more tangible, and it’s also sad because we only really have record of it from upper class people. That’s why Marilyn’s dress was so important. She wasn’t born into the upper class, she was a foster kid for most of her childhood. So the glamorous dresses that she was able to wear meant so much more to her than they mean to people like the Kardashians. Wearing a dress once and never touching it again is normal to the Kardashians, but it wasn’t to Norma Jean. To her it was special, and it should have been preserved.

What I find quite frustrating is that Kim could get an x-ray of her bum to "prove a point" about being natural, yet I was refused an x-ray of my lower back to check for scoliosis because "we don't want to give you unnecessary radiation" like... Now I'm just going by with pain and being bed-bound some days and for doctors to just say "Yeah, it looks like it could be slight scoliosis".

it’s become so normalized in our country for white ppl to try and take ownership of black american culture that many ppl don’t even bat an eye. japanese culture (as well as other asian) are generally more otherized and exoticized in the construct of american white supremacy, so appropriating their cultural elements seems to stand out more.
it’s a tangible example of how different marginalized communities are held down by different axes of oppression, but ultimately still serve the same goal of keeping white ppl at the top.

The whole Ray J sex tape situation kind of shocked me. Though I will say I didn't believe the whole Kanye got the tapes for Kim. The scene (on the show) seemed forced.
Ray J went off for hours on IG Live and revealed Kris forced them both to have sex on camera multiple times then she sat and watched each tape and picked the sex tape we know to release to vivid. She did it intentionally and everyone was in on it to get a cut.
That shows scripted those most likely those weren't even the sex tapes. I don't believe Kanye would just actually go get the tapes & give em to her..!! Kim made it look like she was crying, when she wasn't even tearing up.

I know there clout chasers & culture vultures but sometimes I feel sorry for them. They literally have EVERYTHING and they're still miserable. If you eventually do a video about Rob Kardashian, you MUST include the moment from the show where he told his mom and sisters about the memorial portrait tattoo that he got of his dad (literally the guy he was named after) and his sisters and mom all publicly mocked him for it and said it looked awful.
It wasn’t even bad. It was a pretty decent portrait tattoo and the fact that it was a memorial tattoo means that regardless of if it looked bad or good, no one should’ve bad-talked it because of the emotional weight of it. But his own family harassed him for it on national television and essentially invited people online to say similar stuff.

She could see how much people were talking about these couples online and how they kinda presented that “trendy edgy couple” look and she wanted to be a part of it. I am 100% convinced on this!!! I really loved this analysis of Kim’s problematic past, and her complete disregard for multiple cultures but specifically the Black community. I understand the anger that Kim was so quick to change Kimono compared to her multiple transgressions against Black people and call outs from many celebrities and notable people, since she has brushed this off many times. I did want to note though that it did take her about a week to announce the name would be changed, and there was also an open letter from the mayor of Kyoto written to her and posted on social media. I definitely do still think it could have been an intentional publicity stunt that they planned though.

It's always been interesting to me how ppl praise Kourtney as unproblematic when she is a nasty condescending Karen with all this toxic behaviour that flies under the radar. There was an episode where she was harping on abt prioritizing being a mom and one scene later Mason was telling her she's always on her phone when she's around and they need her attention. She flipped out on Kris for buying the same mugs she had in her kitchen for the love of God, when kim spilled the tea abt her being unable to keep staff around I was not surprised at all. Out of all the sisters people need to be honest Kim will always be the most popular. She literally sold her whole soul and body to be a celebrity. Also Kylie only had a short reign of being popular probably only about 2 to 3 years. I think what really brought Kylie popularity is her day no older man and her having a whole bunch of plastic surgery. She went from ugly duckling too cute. Now with people being over plastic surgery because of health issues it's just not where it's at and women are still being treated like crap with plastic surgery or without so people are really over it and now Kylie Jenner's face is stuck in looking botched.
