I think that Disney fell out of popularity with kids because more and more platforms like youtube offer content for kids (that is just as high-quality as Disney shows) that cater to specific hobbies or interests of an audience, thus making tv shows with a larger target audience seem less tailored/enjoyable for a viewer, since it is made on a broader scale.

The newer Disney shows/movies are so cheesy and cringe and the humour feels like they’re undermining the intelligence of their viewers. Why are the teens on their shows acting like they’re 7? Kim Possible was a teen girl that acted her age and she’s an animated character. Kids are smarter than we think and deserve better content.

I'm 24 but in pretty up to date on Disney Channel shows. I like to keep up with what's on Disney, Nickelodeon, etc. A lot of Disney Channel shows recently are actually really good! Bizaardvark ended in 2019. I wasnt a fan of the show but I did chuckle at some parts. And i thiught the theme song was good. My favorite live action show right now is called Saturdays. It's about Paris Johnson and her best friends form the We-B-Girlz skate crew, determined to show and prove they have the hottest skate routines on the planet. It gave me the same effect as Shake It Up(all kids wanting to dance like them) of Jump In(all kids want to double dutch)
My favorite animated series(which ended in April) was The Owl House. The fan base is at minimum middle school. There's plenty of adults, like myself, that love it. It's similar to Gravity Falls and Amphibia.
I'm looking forward to Haileys On It(which premises in June). It looks good. I feel like people judge the shows without watching it(makes sense since we aren't the demographic). But if you actually sit down and watch them, they're really good. I don't think anything with compare to Disney,Nickelodeon, and Cartoon networks prime like we had(because of the reasons already stated with pre evolved internet and no streaming). But the quality is bouncing back.

IMO I think the downfall to the Disney channel is because the big stars and the audience all grew up. I’m 27. The generation after me were raised on watching CZcams, podcasts, or subscribing to Disney+ where a lot of the original shows are archived. I also used this other Disney service called Disney Now where I was able to watch shows in their entirely when it was signed in using our internet provider. I'm a millennial, so I might be biased but I think a big part of the reason the shows we grew up on worked is because they weren't afraid to talk about real issues. I mean That's So Raven had episodes about racism, body dysmorphia, etc. Lizzie McGuire talked about eating disorders and bullying. Granted I haven't seen a lot of the new shows because I mostly stopped watching when Wizards of Waverly Place got cancelled. I'm wondering if this would bring back the newer generations since they are being made to grow up so quickly?Just my two cents 😀

Along with the increase in streaming/ social media, and decreasing cable viewers, a lot of the Disney shows now are childish. Shows now on the network do not address more serious issues that were tackled during the Disney golden age. I feel like current Disney shows talk down to children and doubt how smart or what they know about the world as opposed to older shows

Coming from someone who was in elementary school when Henry danger first came out, it was actually pretty popular show but I think that’s due to the storyline and actors. Nicky Ricky dicky and dawn’s overall plot wasn’t as interesting now it had a lil hype in the beginning bc it was a new show about quadruplets but it wasn’t as entertaining. Henry danger was one of the few shows me and my peers would get excited to see and I would actually wait around for 8pm when nick said a new episode would come on for the first time or an hour long special. I feel as though it kept its popularity almost the whole series but it lost all hype when they made the spin off version that no one really paid attention too after they had Henry danger’s season finale. But I do agree the animated tv shows would probably do better for the future of kid channels. But also the cost of cable no one wants to pay for anymore for shows and movies you can’t control when they come on which is why site like netflix Hulu Amazon prime and more do better especially because some of those site actually carry those nick and Disney shows on them already.

Money. I was shocked when Billy Cyrus said Hannah
Montana ruined his family. I know Miley
Got into various scandals at a young age so eventually she was known as someone that
Does bad things even among kids and I know for me, she fell from grace and I was displeased with her behavior but I didn’t realize how she was being exploited bc Disney was all sparkles and rainbows. And usually the side characters are the ones underpaid so I was also shocked that she and her dad were taken advantage of due to their inexperience because like her dad was a rockstar. When you’re young you don’t think about this stuff. Even for Demi and Selena I knew they had struggles but I thought is was bc of their own personal life not being in the spotlight on Disney. I didn’t know how abusive it was. No wonder Disney and Nick are getting boycotted now. I will say I’m glad Disney

I feel like Disney Channel has the potential with animation as well! I kind of grew up in that limbo of disney channel from late 2000s-2021 (my sister is younger than me so I technically kept up with it longer than I should have lol). Honestly she likes the 2000s shows of that time as well but its not to say that 2010s shows weren't that bad either. I really recommend watching secrets of sulphur springs, its one of those shows that bring back the old disney in a way (also original I think)! I think Sydney to the Max was trying to be similar to Lizzie Mcguire (an okay show tbh).

Good afternoon: IMO downfall of Disney channel is because they Miley was underpaid, the diversity, shadyness of the Disney Industry, manipulative things they did, pressure they put on the kids about their image & acting. Now these childstars are literally calling Disney out. I'm so glad cuz sounds like these stars went through hell & more. These child actors were basically abused verbally & physically. Demi was throwing up some damn blood. That's serious. How sick do you gotta be..?? I understand Disney wanted to be a great kids channel but damn this is crazy. Disney sounds like one of the worse place to be..!! That's so true kids rather watch teen adult shows than watch Disney. I personally, believe they ran outta ideas. That's probably why they are coming out with same/similar movies & shows.

But, to the actual point of this comment> In addition to what you've mentioned in the video, I think one of Disney's major problems is their refusal to grow and be more inclusive, especially in regards to LGBTQ+ themes. So many showrunners have come out and talked about their struggles to include a queer character, scenes are being cut out, etc. Societies change and people nowadays just do not blindly consume everything they are offered, but Disney doesn't seem to have gotten the message yet.

I'd say the Villains of Valley View (which came out last year) gives me vibes of old Disney Channel a bit. Reminds me a bit of Wizards of Waverly Place, Lab Rats, Mighty Med, and the Thundermans (though that was Nickelodeon). And even shows in 2010-2016 were good like Good Luck Charlie, Shake it Up, Austin & Ally, ANT Farm, Jessie, parts of Bizaardvark (some of it reminded me of Sonny with a Chance), some of Sydney to the Max, Girl Meets World, Liv & Maddie, and Best Friends Whenever. The original movies from 2004-2019 were the best, though after Descendants 3, not much came on that was of interest.

I think some parents are to blame as well for allowing their children to be present in such unhealthy environments without their supervision. This is also why some kid stars from the 90’s and early 2000’s left the spotlight because their parents noticed how bad it could be for kids in the industry.
I see a lot of similarities now between influencer kids and child stars now. Parents nowadays have cameras in their kids faces 24/7 for content. I wonder how this will affect them in the long run.

The reason why they don't do original content anymore is because the content is not bringing in the teens. In the past, Disney has had shows that attracted the teen audiences (like The Cheetah Girls and Boy Meets World). Their new content is not doing that. That's why their bringing bakc reboots. Apart from people wanting these reboots (there was a huge outcry for them on social media), they believe it will bring back the teen audience that they lost.

I didn't have cable TV until I was an adult, but I found some shows on the Disney Channel that I liked, when they still had some good sitcoms. Shows like "Good Luck Charlie," "Austin and Ally" "Liv and Maddie" "Jessie" and my favorite, "Raven's Home" were shows that I found enjoyable as an adult viewer. However, the Disney Channel is a sad shell of its former self right now. All the good sitcoms are gone from the DC, and what's left is mostly shows for little kids and the occasional movies and holiday specials. All the good stuff has moved to Disney Plus, and if you don't have Disney Plus, you miss out on a LOT of shows! Also, I find what happened to Demi Lovato to be pretty sad -- getting sexually assaulted by someone that she had to work with, day in and day out, and he never got in trouble for it? And being literally barricaded in a hotel room -- sounds like a major fire hazard to me. I would have been having major anxiety fits if I was in such a situation! Sounds like the working lives of these teen stars wasn't as great as it appears to be on the surface. And then with Disney movies, there seems to have been a sad lack of creativity and originality in recent years, with most of the new things they've put out being mostly prequels, sequels, spin-offs and remakes of perfectly good animated films that did NOT need to be remade! The Disney of my childhood was magical, even considering that I grew up in the 1980s, when Disney was in kind of a lull with animation. The Disney of today, sadly, not so much!
