been working on getting up there. currently 6ft 192lbs and maxed out at 160lbs weighted the other day. feel like i've hit a plateau. I do them often at various weights (usually 90 or 135 for reps) but am struggling to get to my goal, which is bodyweight added on. any advice from pullup beasts out there?
It doesn't work like that. If you can complete a movement(pullups/dips for instance) you can lift 100% of your own bw, then it adds up. For example, If I weigh 180 lbs and do a weighted pullup with an external 90 lbs, I'll be pulling 150% of my own bw.
@@ronnana694 It's your core that is the issue. Nothing wrong with assisted pull ups to learn the movement. It doesn't directly apply, but I think it's better than training lat pulldowns i.e. Direct ab work will probably help also, hanging leg raises in particular. Whenever I do heavy weighted pull ups, my abs are always sore and much more so than with just rows.
Thats actually amazing. Most woman in the general population can't get one pull up, even in the Marine Corps I've only seen a few that could do multiple. Your strength in pull ups is already an elite accomplishment.
Glad this man sticks to Calisthenics and doesn’t switch up the mission due to outside pressures. I’m a calisthenics athlete myself and it’s not everyday you see someone out there doing the exercises
If that was me, I would have been a cartoon chratecter with my hands stretched couple of meters with me falling through the fall with a sheepish grin. Top stuff
He’s been doing calisthenics for a decade now. He’s probably done every kind of program with every kind of specialization, set/rep scheme under the bus. Being constant with pull-ups for that long in general is the real answer
Fuck even if you don’t count that as a full rep I sure as shit ain’t gonna tell him To even hand with that weight while being his weight is already impressive itself

Damn Austin who did you hear that from
That’s what she said
You would think you lose some performance after years of doing it, maybe getting a bit boring, but no. Impressive and well done.
He has hella discipline
Gets boring when you ain’t making progress he even said it himself
It is boring lol. Everyone that does it knows that it’s boring
@@ado6e882I do 70 pounds for reps and I'm 16 bro
@@srandom770 does that negate the fact that training is boring???
A lot of guys are into pushing rather than the pull work , at the average gym you hardly see people do pullups . Loads of respect Austin
I can’t do bodyweight pull up help. I still do rows with 315 but I can’t pull-up help
@ronnana694 go watch @B4FleX he explained you have to reduce the range of motion then make it higher whenever you get stronger
because they cant without assisted lol its a right of passage
@@killakev9589 I could do five pull-ups before I even started exercising at all. So it wasn’t really a rite of passage

exactly ... just use liquid ...

This is absolutely mindblowing to me as I have never done a pull up
Why?
@dnegel I’ve never put forth the required effort to build the strength to perform a chin up. I have a pull up before

how did you progressively overload over time to get to that weight? how many sets and reps and weighted pull ups a week

Add weight that let's you do 3x5 (last set failure) and add more weight once you're at 3x8. This will give you strength AND size.
