- seam sealing the last bits before painting and these ones really count and want them to look great when done. the tail panel and filler panel are seen all the time and you don't want poor or sloppy seams in these areas. watch how to knock these areas out of the park.

Your project is headed home and looking great. Satisfy our curiosity and guess at the hours you put in to get this far. In a past life I painted custom homes and pushed miles of caulk out of the gun.

I am in a the area of 500 hours. The body working parts burns a lot of hours for me. I think I have more time in sanding then I did cutting the car apart and welding it back together.

Nice, I used two part epoxy, but the seam seal would work too and it's paintable.

The bolts are for lifting the trunk and fuel door while painting. It will assure a even color coat that will match the surrounding panels. When I painted my bird almost 30 years ago, I did many of the components on saw horses, and the one part that has uneven coverage is the fuel door. 😑 You are doing a great job. I wished I had a mentor like you and youtube 30 years ago when I restored my car. I had to learn it by reading and asking lots of questions, and some trial and error.
I applaud you did your car especially 30 years ago. The available information then was way less so it was more intimidating then to restore a car not to mention part quality and availability was not what it is today and You still did it. Like you I learned a lot the hard way and now I can share all I have learned. Appreciate the l encouraging feedback and thanks for watching

Jon, Do the seams between the quarter panels and trunk, under the trunk seal get seam sealer?

What brand of seam sealer are you using?
Dynatron brand I get it from my local paint body supply store
I am baffled. What are the two holes going into the trunk right above the license plate section? I have a 68 and it’s got those two holes and they’re just open and I don’t wanna plug them or anything without knowing what they’re for. If you can help me with that information, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks.
Yes those holes have a rubber type plug that stands off the body about 5/8” tall 1/4” diameter it supports the top of the license plate. The reproduction ones are
A bit shorter then the original. But better then leaving holes in the body.

I need to get the electronic screen that goes on the back of the gauges. Someone tapped into the wire harness, and ran cables directly to the back screws of the cluster. Spaghetti. Lol. Thanks again.

Just out of curiosity in prep for my build, and if you don’t mind my asking, how much do you estimate (ballpark) expenditures for parts and parts alone? I know that’s kind of a loaded question and based on condition of the car itself. Was honestly just curious. Thanks!
This car where it’s at right now, just under 20k that is a complete refurbished drivetrain, rebuilt suspension, power Disc brake conversion. All new fuel system, 60% of the body sheet metal replaced remaining reworked. New Bumpers purchase and all
New deluxe interior included. Vintage air upgrade, new tires. Vinyl top kit, Then paint and body supplies. Then a handful of small goodies my guess all in just about $25k in parts. That basically puts it back to better then new condition. When the i started this project I was guessing 17k in parts, inflation, unforeseen repairs and some added custom touches not on the original plan raised that number not to mention shipping was guessing $2,500 alone 😕 that is included in the all in 25k. Best advice Combine shipping or pickup when you can.
@@VinylVillageGarage thanks for the reply and details. My Camaro will be in similar initial condition with lots of replacement parts and sheet metal. This number is more palatable than I estimated and I’ll be starting with about an $8k budget.

8k will get you a long way and there was a few things I could have done without, i could have patched a few more parts and few other things to cut costs. I am balancing a 2 year total deadline which swayed some of those decisions. Fortunately way ahead of that goal. Glad to be of some type of assistance on your build that was the point of this channel good luck and keep it fun.
