I'm going to guess you have a normal Viper and not the 7 string with s 27" scale length like the Viper in the video. The extra string, neck width and neck length make the neck dive even more extreme.

I moved the strap button to the front of the top horn on the 7 which worked a little, got a 3 inch wide padded strap with extra grippy fabric on the bottom, which doesn't really "Fix" the balance so much as move the pressure a bit to your shoulder, and weirdly enough getting a Fender Voodoo Child coil cable, which weighs a stupid amount, to the greatest amount of success.

my guild polara s100 has some pretty bad neck dove, but I don't really mind to be honest. I play 5th chords in drop D while I sing so I dont really need to worry about manuvering my fingers on a diving neck so much. I imagine it would be hell for my band's lead guitarist though.

Grippier strap solves all issues. The nylon one you're using just kind of sucks with SGs. One of the best I've found, and reasonably priced, is a wool strap from Reunion Blues.

I built my SG my self, it has no neck dive, never knew this was an issue

I didn’t ever see neckdive as an issue. My telecaster dives. I just always thought that’s how guitars go

Thunderbirds have terrible dive too. Switched to a Fender Jazz and my playing improved.

SG style is notorious for neck dive - completely true imexp - also explorers. couple options #1 get a wide strap (preferably leather) at least 3 inches wide. #2 (SG) add/move strap button/lock to above cutaway [horn] on the back side [altering the exterior - yes] Don't know what to tell you other than that. personal choice

just use a leather 3 inch wide strap and stops my old sg's from diving at all, made all the difference and i didn't have neck dive anymore. Happy shredding!

I have played sgs for 19 years now i never heard of neck dive until i saw all these CZcams videos talking about it recently. They dramatically exadurate the headstock dropping to the floor. Honestly i have never had that happen. Admittedly the sg neck might be heavier then other guitars. But i think the light thin body more then makes up for it. I have always liked sgs because for me they are ergonomic and comfortable to play. More so then the bulky heavy less pauls. Not to take anything away less pauls have a rich tone.
