@@khristopherkomodoensis4734 yeah I know bur its just funny that the ltd just dove so fast but yeah I have wanted a baritone for a while so I know what the deal is
I'm going to guess you have a normal Viper and not the 7 string with s 27" scale length like the Viper in the video. The extra string, neck width and neck length make the neck dive even more extreme.
I have a viper FM-100 and it dives about the same as the 2011 Epi sg special. I don't have a leather strap or anything though, so thats kina limiting the grip it can have unless I go Matt Pike mode and play without a shirt.
@@codytodd9773 Ehh, as long as the circuitry doesn't actually form a coil around the weights, there probably shouldn't be interference created by the current magnetizing the weights, but there is definitely some truth to what you're saying.
It's partly the design that causes it. The neck joins the body at the 22nd fret, thus the headstock is sticking out farther away from the body than most guitars. Add tuners with heavy metal buttons and you get that imbalance.
I've got a B.C. Rich Stealth (the cheaper bolt-on neck version). Though the overall guitar is rather lightweight, it's a neck diver! A nice 3" wide strap of grippy material solves that issue!
Can confirm, I have the Epi EB3. But considering how light they are overall, it’s not really a problem. The LTD EX bass on the other hand, that thing is considerably heavier and only slightly less dive. Definitely prefer the EB3
My solution was a big leather Levi's strap. The strap kind of grips my shoulder, and doesn't allow the neck to dive. Also Warlord isn't an SG style guitar.
I used to have a burny sg, it had neck-dive but the things were so light I couldn't care less! That said I think I prefer teles lately. Love that twang.
I have a early 2000's Gibson USA Tony Iommi Black SG. It will dive to just below belt level. To balance it out I got one of those weights that you wear around your wrist or ankle and rapped it around a guitar strap. I also put in strap locks to prevent any accidental strap release this might cause.
I have a 2017 Gibson Sg Standard and it doesn't neck dive bad, if hardly at all. It has a heel joint similar to the late 60s SGs where the strap button is higher up than the early 60s SGs. The new Epiphone SG Standards don't neck dive at all because Epiphone thickened the body. They're slightly thicker than their Gibson counterparts.
Lmao. Lol. Yeah... That does Work. With That P bass. I, Was Contimplating running the Strap through a Hole in a 1/2 brick. 🧱 The ones with 3 holes in them, So you, Can run conduit. Or, Wiring. Or, Rebar. Lol. 🤪
Had the same problem. Got a leather strap with the moveable shoulder pad (the underside is raw unfinished leather) and it doesn't budge. Btw, that warlord looks killer. Also love the all white epi, and the matte black baritone. Nice axes.
My LTD Vipers both six and 7 string have varying degrees of dive. I moved the strap button to the front of the top horn on the 7 which worked a little, got a 3 inch wide padded strap with extra grippy fabric on the bottom, which doesn't really "Fix" the balance so much as move the pressure a bit to your shoulder, and weirdly enough getting a Fender Voodoo Child coil cable, which weighs a stupid amount, to the greatest amount of success.
You kept your composure well when that ltd hit the floor 😂 I have a harley benton dc dlx and the neck dive is pretty rough, always have to hold it so it doesn't fall and hit something.
I had an 1996 gibson sg special that did not move. The super old leather strap i had on it might have helped but i played it around the same spot you let go off them
Not all, but most, and most for the same reason. If you look back at the older SGs, they had the long trapeze tailpiece, and many had trems. That weight on the bridge side helps balance out the neck.
Neck dive mostly comes from the location of the strap button. If you put it on the horn, you no longer have that problem. I've played SGs for close to 30 years and didn't even know this was a thing until the internet came around and people started yapping about it.
I have a 2020 Gibson SG standard. Every single SG I have ever pickup up, has had neck dive. Except this one I traded for it was best trade I have ever made. It’s wild, I like it gotta try that warlord.
I fought that for so long. You can get weighted pickup rings made out of metal. You can get light tuners. You can even get a Maestro tailpiece to add weight. But alas, they will still neck dive.
I had to part ways with my Yamaha SG 1000 for this very reason. I actually developed tendinitis in my upper forearm from playing it so much... I loved it, but it had to go 🥺
Yup, some guitars I absolutely loved them but they would hurt my hand or something like that so I was like the pain's not worth it and I instantly sold them
Oh I forgot. Saw an SG shaped LTD which was said to be a Glenn Tipton signature.. great looking guitar. Don't remember seeing these anywhere . If anyone knows anymore than me I'd be grateful for the heads-up.
Angus Young's guitars definitely don't have neck dive issues. He's damn near dueling for frontman status with Brian Johnson as he runs, jumps, and slides while playing.
Well, way back when I had an SG, I fixed the neck dive by duct-taping a weight from an airsoft rifle to the back. But the real effective solution was playing literally anything else.
It's simple physics guys, if the neck weighs more than the body the neck will dive because it weighs more than the body can offset or support. SG bodies are very thin and built from mahogany witch is a pretty light weight wood. If they added half an inch to the body thickness it would solve the neck dive problem!
If it actually bothers anyone, don’t ‘fret’ (😉) there are heaps of ways to fix it. You can either; *Install a trem system eg a bigsby. *Move the strap button to the upper horn. *Hide weights in the control cavity. *Switch out tuners eg grovers are so heavy compared to Kluson’s Or by far the easiest; *buy a textured strap eg those old school tweed 🎸-straps grip really well to fabric
my guild polara s100 has some pretty bad neck dove, but I don't really mind to be honest. I play 5th chords in drop D while I sing so I dont really need to worry about manuvering my fingers on a diving neck so much. I imagine it would be hell for my band's lead guitarist though.
Grippier strap solves all issues. The nylon one you're using just kind of sucks with SGs. One of the best I've found, and reasonably priced, is a wool strap from Reunion Blues.

Neck dive never bothered me. I appreciate how light they are and they play like butter.
