0:00 Intro
0:05 "I actually gave a bunch of it to my BG guy to send to their lab for testing and apparently the lab had lost the sample. I suspect the oil was contaminated with something." The technician also mentioned that the customer ended up just scrapping/getting rid of the vehicle as it had a lot of miles on it.
0:25 When the customer installed the LED rock lights using screws, he screwed one underneath the washer fluid reservoir causing it to leak out washer fluid.
0:37 The customer had both rubber pieces/grommets installed on top of the shock when they installed new front shocks. One washer and rubber piece/grommet are supposed to be underneath, and one on top. So when you tighten the nut, it'll hold it in place in the shock tower.
0:44 Belt was incorrectly installed which will cause the water pump to rotate backward. The ribbed part of a serpentine belt should never be directly on a smooth surface of a pulley.
0:56 The technician was never informed on who/what shop installed the new transmission.
1:13 As mentioned the technician thinks that the customer had left the plastic wrap on the fuel pump when they installed it. The technician diagnosed it and just thought it was a bad fuel pump so he removed the old one and found this.
1:26 All of the front-end components on this Astro Van were worn and needed to be replaced. The technician didn't say what the customer ended up doing in regard to their vehicle.
1:38 The customer did not purchase new tires but the technician found a dove behind the front bumper which made his day! He grabbed it and brought it outside.
1:50 The customer's father had screwed screws into the fuel tank when he "repaired" the exhaust.
1:56 Which one do you think it sounds like?
2:12 It needed a valve cover gasket and new plugs/wires. Since it has quite the custom start procedure on this Ford Focus, it's most likely that the customer will install the parts themselves.
2:28 The technician said he could not believe that they wanted that piece of garbage removed.
2:38 No extra info.
2:52 The vehicle has not been back yet to his shop.
3:02 This clip was sent in by a viewer. They didn't mention more information about their vehicle.

What's scarier than knowing that those vehicles are on the road?
A: Knowing that the owners are behind the wheel!
Yes
And that they are allowed to vote.
People driving new cars while texting
And that they are allowed to reproduce.
I think knowing that the owners are breeding concerns me more
I can't believe the customer declined the work on the car with the almost entirely disconnected steering system. If it was my shop I wouldn't have let them leave my place unless it was hooked to a tow truck. I'm not even kidding a little bit. Some people are so afraid that a mechanic is trying to "screw" them out of money they can get stupid.
Congrats again on the 400K. I first found you as a baby channel with about 45,000 subs. Your videos deserve the subs man. Keep up the great work.
I appreciate that and thanks for the support my friend! Means a lot
Too many years of doing this will have you just say “good luck to ya” to those kind of customers
I think it’s a law that a shop can’t hold your vehicle hostage for necessary repairs. 🤷♂️
While thats a good idea, a shop can't hold a car hostage. Thats a recipe for fraud. Have them sign a waiver and say good luck!
Always good to have a release for them to sign. Something like: "customer acknowledges that (vehicle description and VIN) is not safe for use on public roads and releases (shop name) from any and all liability".
I haven't had to use it often, but there was a few times that I was glad I did.
It's amazing how many of these problems are self-inflicted by the owners.
At least some of them admit it themselves instead of saying "another shop did it"
Ignorance can be downright scary.
Definitely a seal.
It actually sounds exactly like sea lions. I grew up on the Oregon coast, they were like roosters for us.
Definitely sounds like a seal You're right
Lmao so glad I saw that before I understood it
Sounds like Sea Lions to me: czcams.com/video/tcnM6258X0k/video.html
I agree. 😂😂😂😂😂
Using a plug to start the car... unexpected.
Which is why it's a solid anti-theft measure!
Best "low tech" unexpected anti-theft method I've ever seen on a car was on my high school buddy's 1977 Camaro. He got an old floor mount "high beam" switch and wired it as a kill switch.
it's also a manual which should work well to deter theft in the US
Must be a new kind of plug in hybrid
Friend had a ~'60 Fairlane Automatic - the neutral safety starter interlock ONLY worked in Reverse (not P or N). With a foot firmly on the brake, and when it fired, flick it quickly to "N".
Thieves rolled it down the hill and tried hot wiring TWICE!!! Failed both times. He never got it fixed.
Between being a stick shift and the unusual starting method a carjacker will give up.
The good news is he found a dove behind the front bumper and set it free.... The best line ever! Nice one. 👍👍
That's what happens When Doves Cry.
The car died when it's soul was finally set free by the dove.

I like it at the end when you show a car that is truly loved by its owner.
I'm honestly impressed by the Ignition ground to the shifter. Ain't no one stealing it atleast!
Reminds me of our old farm truck. The key broke off in the ignition. Old man just tore the metal cover off the ignition and you couldn't engage/turn it without the cover. That's the new key.
Clever!
OMG! What a beautiful 1967 Chevy at the end!!
Sweet engine too!

0:37 Same thing happened to me; I went to NAPA to get new shocks for my car and they sold me the wrong ones that they said fit my car, anything above 10 mph and it sounded like a socket set in a dryer. That was the day I learned to not trust auto part stores when they claim something will fit your car
That goo in the oil pan on the first truck can happen when nothing but stopleak is added for a few years. Mechanically ignorant friend of mine did that to his Altima then asked me why it stalled and wouldn't start. After some remote Q&A I found that he never changed the oil, but did add stop leak when it was low.... for the last 4 years. He sent me a pic of the oil pan that the shop sent to him and I confirmed the shop wasn't ripping him off, he did need a new engine. Looked just like the pan in your vid. His brand of stopleak was "whatever".
Bruh it's like adding dish soap to your cup to clean it then drinking water out of it before rinsing it out. 😂 wait no it's worse then that because he basically topped off his water with more dishsoap.

So glad the tech freed that dove. Poor birdie On the positive note, the engine compartment of that 1967 Chevy looks spotless, just like the rest of it.
I will always fail to understand how people just right out FAIL to remove the packaging before installing anything...
whats more crazy is that they have the skill to remove a petrol tank from a car but not know to take the packaging of the pump!
@@krusher74 its crazy how often it seems to happen in these clips.
Perhaps it's like a sausage - all have some sort of casing to keep the contents from falling out, but some have a bonus plastic case to keep it protecting in shipping. It just tastes chewier...
Maybe whoever installed the fuel pump just thought it had a shiny finish?
1:38- Glad that there was a peaceful ending.
These videos are absolutely mind boggling.
I worked in a service center back in the 70's for a couple of years and never saw anything remotely like these situations.
This must be a generational thing. It to me shows a complete disconnect from reality.
Yep! Common sense is disappearing from our society.
Probably has more to do with people just not being able to afford to fix these problems. That's not an excuse, but I think it's more than just being completely oblivious to the condition of their car.
years ago people were more aware a car was a mechanical item that wore out over time, not its more like a cellphone, it works but harly anyone know whats goin on inside it.
@@krusher74
Yep. Treat them like a TV or anything else just long enough till the next one.
You didn't see this in the 70's because we weren't a "throwaway society" as much back then as it is now. People used to fix things and keep things going for longer. Nowadays, people just use something until it breaks. Then you throw it away and buy a new one. It's not money. People have more disposable income now than they did in the 70's.
Love your videos! I also love how you end each video with a " pallet cleanser " of how a car should be.

Thank you for the palate cleanser, those skin flakes were disgusting!
Have pity on the owner - they have a severe case of psoriasis. The medication to treat it is VERY expensive and, because it is considered a 'cosmetic condition', only the top insurance plans will cover the cost.
@@standupbroad6648, but it's also a severe case of not using the vacuum cleaner.
This was a good episode. Gotta watch for what’s behind panels you are drilling or screwing into 😂
I kid you not, I had a customer come in with a prius that began to overheat due to a coolant leak. Found accident damage, but it wasn't the radiator. Long story short, the fender liner had come loose, so they bolted it back to the fender with a 2 in sheet metal screw.... which conveniently found its way into the expansion tank.
Installing lights inside the fenders is a precarious process. Someone's bound to screw up.
Yup. Years ago, we had a customer not listen to us about where to mount his two-way radio in his combine. Drilled straight into the A-pillar to do so, then wondered why his $350,000 combine wouldn't go anywhere. Well, sure enough, he'd drilled and tapped both screws right into the CAN lines running to the instrument cluster. 🙄
Or use a longer screw. Eventually, it'll hit something solid.
Many years ago, when I worked for our county DPW, often times we worked on the patrol cars for the Sheriff department. The new Crown Victoria cars were slightly different than the Chevy caprice. We found out when we first installed the cages between the front/back seats, that Ford run the fuel lines very close to where we sunk self-tapping screws in the bottom mount plates. Took a day of driving to wear a hole in the line. Oops
Walrus looking for the eggman!!

The engine on that last one is a beauty. Decline all repairs, 'cause it don't need 'em.
Beautiful car at the end.. Thanks.
Man I love these videos
I dont even know the basics about cars repairs and yet some of those frighten me more than some of the best horror stories you can find on the internet...
I’ve been in a “skin flake” car like that before. There is a smell associated with it, too. Spoiler alert: it doesn’t smell good. I only had to move it in and out of the shop, so I put on my N95 mask (pre-Covid, back when the professionals who needed that equipment for their jobs could actually get them), safety goggles and nitrile gloves, as well as a plastic seat cover.
Just one Q: how the hell does someone accumulate That Much dry skin inside the 🚗 car????
Does it help if a window opens while driving...?

3:02 Carry on my wayward son, there'll be peace when you are done. Lay your weary head to rest. Don't you cry no more!
Home mechanics should remember how the shocks came off before putting the new ones on.
Wouldn't it be convenient if they had something in their pocket that could take a picture of it, in case they forget? 🙂
The guy who showed me how to replace drum brakes also showed me how to do one at a time and leave the other alone as a reference for how it should look after I'm done.
I worked parts for years. A customer told us the battery we sold him was defective. Then we realized he tried to attach the battery terminal over the red plastic cap on the positive post. That still makes me laugh sometimes.

I am in sensory overload after seeing these clips , a few made me scream and a few made me curious but the seal sound at the end made me laugh out loud and still smiling . Should of sent a sample of that sludge , although at first i thought it was a beach towel . for testing , i have seen sludged engines but not near that bad and that steering linkage is a tad out of spec . These clips for some reason were exceptionally entertaining , thanks ..

The first vehicle's oil is filled with a gallon+ of additives. I bet the last owner added them to 'make the car run better' for test drives.

Dried Skin Flakes is part of a balanced breakfast!
Love this channel ❤. You never know what you will see.
Though my State does not require periodic safety inspections (only Emissions every 2 years here in MD), that steering linkage is why they should be required.
That black Impala at the end was sweet!
Who in their right mind would decline repairs on worn and wonky steering components and the tires that came after. If safety isn't their cup of tea, they better make it so only because they're putting their families and others at risk.
However, I'm happy to see the Black Chevy Sedan from "Supernatural" in the last clip. I just completed a model of it awhile back.
I would. The price to repair would be more than it's worth. I would drive it to the scrapyard, cut the cat off, and drive it across the scale.
The black Chevy sedan is a pretty close recreation of the one from "Supernatural," even down to the rims. Both are 1967 Impalas, however the only difference I can see is that the one in the video has the post between the front and rear doors. The one from the show, a sports sedan, doesn't. Also, "Baby" doesn't have the badge on the front fender.
Idk why some people decline repairs. The owner should have it at least scrapped because the chevy astro has a bad safety rating. Just look at the IIHS page.

I think we've seen that jello-like oil before in another video, I think it was cooking oil put into the engine.
One was cooking oil, one was only oil additives in the engine and one they weren't sure.
This looks like cooking oil, I have seen it before, on a lawnmower and in a chainsaw.
Oil is oil to some folks.
@@JustRolledIn It can also happen from mixing regular oil and synthetic oils, once heated in the engine they polymerize and become a form of plastic as they form long chains.
@@SilvaDreams details are needed for your claim?
Never hearing this before made me Google that...
Typically a valvoline fan but From amsoil blog:
Can I Mix Synthetic and Conventional Oil?
"Yes. There is no danger mixing synthetic and conventional motor oil. However, conventional oil will detract from the superior performance of synthetic oil and reduce its benefits. In this post, we’ll also look at if it’s safe to use regular oil after synthetic oil."
What about synthetic blend oil?
" That’s because you can safely mix synthetic and conventional oil. In fact, synthetic-blend motor oil is simply conventional and synthetic oil already mixed for you."
I was never warned about a problem with mixing oils in automotive school (except weights mind you).
If your claim is an issue, one would think that would have been a question on my ASE testing, but that was a long time ago 🤷.
I can Def see adding too much oil stop leak or some kind of additive causing the problem.
I mean are shops/quick lube going to need some kind of disclaimer?
"if you improperly mix your oil, we're not responsible!"
I ain't saying you're wrong, buuuut the internet disagrees with you...
Show me your evidence and I'll consider it?
Its been a minute since I turned wrenches professionally, so current techs out there, is this an issue, and how?
Love these vids!!
In case anyone wants to know why the oil jelled like that - this is caused by engine flush being added to very, very dirty oil in an attempt to clean the engine, and they kept it in there and drove it around. The reason why I know this is because I unwisely added that stuff to a Daihatsu Charade with 40,000 miles on the oil. I had to drop the pan to complete the task. I found the same thing.
