0:00 Intro
0:05 The upper and lower ball joints on both sides had a lot of play as well. The technician mentioned to the customer their vehicle was not safe to drive and is dangerous to himself and others on the road. From what the technician said it seemed like the customer didn't really care. Will give you guy's an update if I hear anything back about this one.
0:39 The technician said he thinks the truck must have been sitting for a while to get this rusty, but as mentioned his shop refused to work on it as it should not be driven on the roads in this condition.
0:53 The technician mentioned he was surprised that anybody would take the time to do this as it only costs around $25 for a new outer tie rod end and it would take a while to drill a hole through the shaft of the outer tie rod end. Ideally, It's supposed to have a castle nut and cotter pin installed.
The shop is not sure who did the work as well.
1:08 No extra info.
1:22 No issues found, normal condition. They mentioned to the customer that "When the engine cools down completely and exhaust gasses exit the combustion chamber, condensation of water and carbon dioxide can be noticed much more, and in a moment like this, you notice water dripping from your car's exhaust pipe."
1:30 The technician said in almost 30 years of being a technician he has never seen this happen!
"2015 SCrew F150. Right rear, under the scuff plate. Mice chewed the crap out of the harness."
1:44 It would have made more sense to pick up a new battery and just installed it.
1:55 Rubber hose/fuel line should NEVER be used to repair brake lines. Use what's recommended by the manufacturer or replace the brake lines.
This will cause air in the brake system, and brake fluid to leak out.
2:01 The technician said the vehicle didn't brake too well and he thinks it was in an accident at some point and the previous owner just got used parts from a scrap yard to make it work. They also mentioned "more travel in the pedal due to the different volume of fluid going to each side.... they use a different valve or master on cars with drums on the rear to compensate for it normally....all I gotta say is wow..."
2:14 The camera "eyesight system" for the lane keep assist is right behind the sticker on the windshield. It was removed and the fault went away.
2:19 The technician said the customer is getting their insurance company involved as they now want a new engine installed.
2:32 As mentioned the technician thinks they used an engine from a 2WD model or possibly a different model of Dodge which has a different oil pan. So to make it fit they smashed the oil pan to get over the cross member. The technician isn't sure what "other shop" apparently did this and why they didn't go back to that shop.

Towing your car by the radiator mount for a battery change is the biggest brain move I've seen on this channel so far
Big brain, smooth cerebrum
You’re telling me you wouldn’t do the same thing?
@@akronimm862 if you don't tow it by the windshield what are u doing?
I just chain both side view mirrors and pull it works with every car.
here i am walking to the closest shop and buying a new battery like a chump!
Hats off to the Buick owner for NOT putting in a Chevy small-block!
I'd love to hear the straight 8!
@@JustRolledIn Had my Buick at the dealer's for a computer recall recently and they were servicing a '51 Super. Sounded mellow and low.
For sure...
Why? SBC are one of the best engines in automotive history (especially the 350) and if you want more power, they make them brand new and you can get a crate 350sbc that’s brand new and has a similar feel to a stock one with the power of a 5.3LS (300hp and 375lb/ft torque). better yet it’ll outlive most of the people who own it.
it's all gm shit anyways does it really matter?
"They aren't sure when the last oil change was performed...." I'm guessing when it was delivered new.
Wouldn't be the first time 😂
Yeah, and of all vehicles to ignore routine maintenance, a Land Rover has to be one of the most dangerous!
Well, as we all know, the oil in the car at the time you buy it is good for the life of the car. Literally.
@@JustRolledIn except for that poor Range Rover it has been 😂 😂 😂
Now you know why I think flying cars are a bad idea.
You would think if the customer was willing to put in the energy to come up with an elaborate plan for a tow, a basic battery swap would have come to mind.
Someone smart enough to put in a battery would know to find a proper towing point or just jump the dang thing and drive it in.
It's a Heep....errr, Jeep thing; you wouldn't understand. And be glad you don't. "Always in a Heep!" 😆
@@markh.6687 Jeep girl... 🤣
You have over estimated the human material.
Well you see... Tying a rope around any surface and pulling it is the most basic thing you can do. Now tying a rope to the frame of the vehicle or changing a battery is a more effort demanding action. For those you need a little bit of knowledge. Seeing how the owner went with the former, they probably have none of that and chose the option that's basic for them.
"Smashed the oil pan to make it fit", lol. Somehow that game where child's need to fit the correct shape into a plastic box came to my mind.
They all fit in the square hole where he comes from. Bootleg Chinese toys smh
Takes me back to my first car, a Renault 12 Gordini. I had a hell of a time finding a brake booster for it, so I ended up putting in one from a Renault Laguna... which is just a little bigger so it hit my brake cylinder... so I took a peening hammer and... well, you know. It ended up working fine tho, so it's all good!
@@realDonaldTrump420 That's right, it goes in the square hole
@@PrototypeSpaceMonkey you got very lucky there
"Mother, you _cram_ the puzzle pieces in." "Oh come on, I won't do that this time." "OK." "Hey, corner piece!" "There you go!" "... Bit of a stubborn one here. *gets ready with scissors and a hammer."* "LEAVE!!!"
Gotta admit, I copied most of this out of a Lola comic from some time way back. I don't remember when exactly, but probably from 2002 - 2007.
Seeing neon underglow on an old ass car like that was actually really dope, nice Buick!
Tbh, it looks much better on that vehicle than it does on most modern vehicles.
"I will fix it myself/I will have a friend do it cheaper" is just a fancy way of saying "I'll be back"
Also when they finally do come back, it wasn’t them or their friend who made the mess, it was “another shop”.
Not always. Some of us take the "measure twice, cut once" approach to fixing things. I watched a dozen videos, read a dozen articles, and studied a diagram before replacing the thermostat and radiator on my car. Unfortunately that wasn't actually the problem. Turns out there was a factory recall for the head. Apparently Chevy cut some corners with the Cruze and ended up basically buying me a brand new engine, reimbursing me for parts, and paying for a two-week rental. The upside was I talked the rental company into giving me a bells and whistles Ram 1500 HEMI for the same price as the original rental car. I'm not a Dodge fan, but damn that truck was fun to drive. The downside of having a truck came when friends and family found out I had a truck. It's funny how everyone suddenly needed help moving something.
I've had shops diagnose problems for me so I could fix the part myself in 20 minutes for free instead of being billed $250 for "2 hours".
@@SashazurNah, when I mess it up, I'm honest about it. Decent mechanics will usually tell you where you went wrong if you walk them through what you did.
Or after they bring it to a cheaper shop and find out why it was cheaper when they need more done to fix the other shop. Or ....coworker more other than not.
It's baffling as to why people will find a work around for a problem rather than fixing it the right way.
Cut rate people in a low budget land.
Some people pride themselves on their (Questionably existent) DIY skills.
Other times, money speaks, and they’d rather save NOW then consider if they’d pay more putting it off.
I'm all for a good hack if/when something needs to function in as far as getting to the part's store (or shop), but . . .
I suspect it's desperation combined with a lack of money most of the time.
I worked at a company that did fixes like that on a machine meant to destroy explosives by detonating and containing it. The results would have been hilarious if they weren't also highly dangerous.
There must be a big market for Wishes and Prayers, because this is what most of these cars run on.
I keep customers work orders that “decline repairs” or “will do it themselves” for at least one whole month before filing away. You have no idea how many come back
Nice gullwing doors on that crew cab in the second clip. Very modern.
😂😂
I was getting RedGreenTV flashbacks😀
Always look at the bright side, eh?
The doors go like this, not like this! (Hats off if you get the reference)
I’m impressed with the guy who drilled through the the tie rod end bolt and pinned it with another bolt. I would never have thought of that!
Isn't there a military specification that requires a wire through a hole as the only accepted way to secure a nut?
Nah that was a dumb one.
@@mvd4436 I was joking, of course!
If I had a choice of a Lamborghini, Ferrari or the Buick at the end of the video, it would definitely be the Buick. I'm a fan of the classics 😎
I like this format, so many screw ups, and then the one redeeming vehicle at the end to ease my pain! Lol
Just when you think you've seen it all. That Buick at the end was sweet. I remember back in the day, these rides was like riding on a cloud, smooth and super comfortable.
Only because the Streets were new...
yeah that was very sweet looking.. Beautiful car
That Buick was Special.
Not to mention powerful, comparatively, when they came out. My 80 y o brother in laws father bought a 38 Buick Century. Before that, he, like many others, had to drive much of a 2 mile road in reverse to climb the mountain to their summer cabin. First gear just wasn't low enough for the steep parts in cheaper, older cars. That Buick 8 pulled up just fine
I want to cry seeing that Buick wrecked with the under-vehicle lights. It is no longer a classic; it is a Frankenvehicle.
When people have no money, they will do anything to keep their beater running. It will literally have to fall to pieces before they give up on it. My personal favorite was the bolt somehow pushed through the tie rod.
Well it’s more reliable than a new one
Oh man! The 1950 Buick at the end , WOW! VERY nice!!!
From looking at the conditions of the vehicles I'm shaking my head that the owners would keep them on the road. The rusted out conversion van in particular should have been driven straight to the scarp yard instead of the shop.
However, the sweet 50 Buick in the last clip is a whole different story.
He gets alot of hate for not 'keeping it real' and putting airbags instead of hydraulics. Even though hydraulic suspension has not improved in 75 years and is basically "you're on your own" when it comes to building something that doesn't leak or squeak.
@@realDonaldTrump420 bags are ok.. underglow? It's not 2002 anymore (luckily)

i swear man, I used to work at a collision shop. there have been so many customers we declined and will spend the money suing us rather getting their shit fixed.
Never thought that suing someone is cheaper than having someone fix it🌋🤯
It's truly amazing that any of us are still alive knowing these POS's are on the road next to us!
I thought I had a rust bucket until I saw that crew cab😮
what is the EXTRA penalty when these vehicles KILL
@@ivanolsen7966
The vehicles doesn’t kill. The driver kills, using a vehicle as a weapon.
I love the smashed oil pan 😂😂😂
Whoever did that 🤦
I know right? I couldn't figure out why they didn't just swap the oil pan from the bad engine? But a hack shop like that probably damaged the pan during removal...
@@SofaKing85 or just an angry mechanic, frustrated with life over all 🤣🤣👍🏼👊🏼
@@JustRolledIn thats sue worthy matriral right there
If you are replacing an engine and pull out a ballpeen hammer, stop. Take a nap and then, rethink.
This is completely unrelated to the video but i recently got my head gasket done and the mechanics found out that the "shop" that changed the timing belt got the timing a bit off, well i found out yesterday from the uncle i bought the car from, the "shop" was himself lol. The only thing that bothered me about that is that he didn't look up the proper timing for it and just went off what he'd heard, and the timing belt had a bit of slack too. Oh what joy it is for people who don't even bother to look up or buy a workshop manual for their car to try and work on it...
Woo hoo, let's tow the Jeep to the shop! What could possibly go wrong?🤔🤣 Man, being stupid is expensive!💲💲💲
It should be!!
However much it cost a drop in the bucket of what it should be to help people learn a little bit.
Imagine getting into a roll over in that truck with the B pillar rotted out... Probably not an unlikely situation to be in considering the likely condition of the frame/suspension/steering LOL
I'm glad there are no potholes out there. Some of these vehicles would explode if they ever hit one..
I follow this channel so I feel a little less like a hamfisted amateur when I work on my car. It works!
.50 THATS A 1980S CHEVY VAN

I feel super smart about working on mine 😂 glad my dad taught me some important stuff. Like when to let a professional handle stuff you know nothing about.
HElla!
I like how the owner of the Buick kept the the 3 oval badges on each side signifying that it has the original straight 6 but has a straight 8, love the sleeper look.
It's still not a fast car. Similar to a Honda Civic with the straight 8.
@@jayhemfindsyou It is indeed a faster car with the inline 8cyl. More horsepower and more tourqe than the original straight 6, if it wasn't then why change the engine? Just keep learning from these old mountain men, they are the ones that start the racing scene long before you, and I were even thought of.
@@sbckev4172 My point is old cars with an 8 cylinder can barely keep up with a modern "econo-car" with a 4 cylinder. Today's modern econo car can do 0-60 in 7 seconds and run the 1/4 mile in 16 seconds at 130 mph.
@@jayhemfindsyou Horsepower-to-weight ratio comes in. While the inline engines had more torque, it wasn't built for racing. But it has plenty of torque and power to haul itself and the car it's installed in in a smooth and comfortable manner. Besides, comparing a 1950 Buick to any new econo car is just... well you can't. There is no comparison.
I deeply doubt humanity's chance of survival, when I see some of these. Thank you for pulling me back from total despair with the beauties you show at the end 😊.
Natural selection needs to step up it's game.
WOW!!! THAT BUICK WAS BEAUTIFUL!!!
"Customer refused repairs" gets me every time 😅
All that work to drill through a tie rod to stick some bolt in. Or all the work to weld the suspension up and wire the hell out of it.
The person that towed the Jeep in for a battery, you know they dusted off their hands saying only idiots pay for tow trucks.
That last one has a big Halloween vibe to it, I could imagine Vincent Prices' laugh blare out when the car is started
Vincent is a good choice. My first thought was, The Joker. :)
Maybe, if the pink lights were removed.😏
I can't recall how many times I've fitted 2x4 engines to 4x4 trucks and had to fit the old engine's oil pan, it has become a second habit to look out for that.
I think the folks that take a vehicle to "another"shop needs to find another , "another" shop for repairs by the results they are getting! SHEESH!
Had a customer in the early 2000s with one of those buicks. The fellow that did the body work had it absolutely perfect, flawless black with a perfect clear job that you could swim in. Just a gorgeous ride. The owners logging truck was kept almost as nice.
Rubber fuel line and jubilee clips on a brake line.😆😆 Would have been great to have some footage of it expanding when they put their foot on the brake.😀
I asked about that. They forgot unfortunately 😅
I think you're confused. Any car with suspension has rubber brake (you said fuel) lines.
Oh wait, I'm the one who's confused. They put fuel lines on a brake line.
Loving the gullwing door "mod" on the truck at 0:46 😅. Couldn't help uttering a "**** me" at that one. Every time I watch one these I'm thankful for the fact we have an annual inspection (MOT) over here in the UK , despite how much I might moan about it at the time when I have to pay £££ for repairs. And to think our government want to make them every 2 years instead?! 🤨
With vehicle prices at ridiculous levels now, we'll probably see a lot more vehicles held together with duck tape and coat hangers, as people can't afford the new stuff anymore.
I had two 81 E350s. I bought one in 91, another in 01. They were used and abused for ages. Nothing ever broke. Nothing. They really don't make them like they used to. That leaf spring, for instance, is way lighter than mine were.
That last car was AWESOME! The paint is artwork.
Really enjoying the eye candy you include with your last clip , hope more send in their vids of their sweet rides like this one . But the clips preceding the last one i fear the worse . The line " All i want is an oil change " is a line all mechanics have heard more then once . The issue with a few customers is they think mechanics are out to get them , no matter what you cant shake it from some peoples minds thus the decline repairs even safety issues in some cases . Hope your wife and yourself are feeling better ..
Well, that's what this channel is about. The eye candy is just the happy ending. I vote for keeping it as it is.
Would like to see more featured eye candy from other continents though, but I understand you see most US well maintained oldtimers over there.
These vids actually make me thankful to live in a state with inspections. These death traps shouldn’t be on the road
I'll just tow it in myself with a rope tied around the grill !

That Lambo-doored truck really got me in the beginning I had to pause until I stopped laughing :D
That Buick at the end was awesome! But its scary the garbage that is driven on the road masquerading as motor vehicles.
This is why I am actually grateful my state has vehicle inspections
Holy cow, some of these have GOT to be cause for arrest or an injunction against the person who did the 'repairs'. Reckless endangerment? Some sort of attempted assault? Theft by deception, if they charged for the work? (obviously I'm not a lawyer).
Thanks for the 'palate cleanser', that car is gorgeous!
Dear Lord…. A literal rust bucket! Scary!
Having spent the past year behind the wheel of a straight-six (Jeep 4.0L), I can only imagine how fun that Buick straight-eight is!
And a beautiful restoration to boot!
This needs to be posted on all social media. People just don’t understand what it’s like being a tech.
Why did that shop hammer the oil pan to make the engine fit, when all they needed to do was bend the drive shaft? Which was probably the goob’s first thought. 😜
2:30 Well at least he didn't blame it on "Another shop", credit where credits due i guess🤷♂😏

Excellent video. I loved this “three on the tree” reference. I had a 1963 Jeep Tuxedo Park with the three on the tree configuration as my first vehicle in 1974 when I turned 16. That vehicle was awesome. 50 mph top speed. Leaky gas tank under the driver’s seat. What more could a 16 year old ask for……
I'm a Kansas man. Jerry rigged many things questionably... this channel still amazes me with that area of engineering 😂
I once had the mechanical fuel pump fail on an old truck of mine while doing 70 on a lonely highway in the middle of nowhere. Managed to rig up the washer fluid pump to keep the carburetor bowl filled. Once I got the rhythm of hitting the washer fluid sprayer down, she ran with no issues all the way home. I had a 05 GMC canyon and the bottom driver's side frame rusted away, I sold it to a scraper and he welded bed rails for a patch kit and used it for a daily driver. He ended up scraping it a few months later because the frame fully gave out.
In New Zealand we have an annual safety inspection, thank god. Most of this worn out crap would have been sent to the shredder and turned into new reinforcing steel long ago in NZ. And no, in nearly 60 years of working on cars, I've never seen that tie rod bolt trick. You'd be charged by the Police here if that came apart and someone was killed or injured.

That Range Rover looks kinda familiar.
