When my father got his 04 in about 2015 he had a rad leak and decided to use stop leak, that truck never ran right after that. Constantly having weird issues Literally had the hpop come unbolted driving down the road. I didn't know about diesels at the time I was 12 but I have always remembered that truck. It was my favorite truck ever man and it's probably gone forever
Ron you are a great teacher and your videos are just perfect. I am no diesel mechanic but you have walked me through so many issues I've had with my truck. I would not have kept this truck with out you helping videos. Thanks
Ron - thank you for taking the time and effort in making this video. I've been looking all around to get a decent cab off and therefore you just made my day. YOU have over the years saved my heaps of $$$. Keep them coming. All the best from Norway

That is a very good video great detail I was wondering if you could tell me I am looking at a 02 F550 with the supercab it needs replaced because of rust I was wondering if I could go with the later model body style that has the later-model - and front end the F-550 is the 7.3
Anyone know if Ron ever did a video on the main engine harness for 6.0? Needing to replace mine never done it before and can seem to find a video on how to go about it.
Just picked up a rust free cab for my 01 7.3 single cab 165,000 miles runs strong. Any suggestions on other things to replace while it’s apart please and thanks
That abs module can be unbolted from the body and leaned onto the motor. Do the same with the master cylinder and you don't have to open the brake system. Save a little time.
Hi Ron, I've got an '07 6.0, in the video you mention adding a coolant filter to a 6.0. I think you said if you don't have a filter then make sure your filters are up to date. Is there a stock coolant filter?
Do you have to unhook the electric wires for the fuel tank ? I had my 2007 F 350 king ranch 4 door dually 4 wheel drive 6.0 diesel heads replaced and studded/bulletproofed. Now I have a problem with the fuel gauge not working the shop tells me they had not plugged the wires back together.
Thanks Ron. I got a good look at the body mounts and had a question about the front ones. Does the bolt come out or do you just leave it sticking up and aim for the hold as you lower the body? The reason I am asking is I need to do the front body mount and maybe others after I get a clear look at them.
They stay and you're right on about aiming for the bolt. we stand on a tire, watch it while leaning or pushing the tire back or forward to align the frame to body. to replace one. loosen the others. Jack the body up a few inches. nothing need removed but watch the fan. maybe loosen the radiator brackets like in the oil pan video.
+DieselTechRon Thanks for the quick reply. Looks like to get that body mount I'll have to lift to the high of that bolt + the mount thickness. Or do you have a better way?
can you do this in the drive way with a jack and some wood to lift the cab my two rear one behind the bench seat in the back need to be replaced or do you need a lift to do it
first one? 2-3 hours off. 5-6 hours on. next one. half. we are about one hour off on stock trucks. two hours on. stock. a lot more with amps, ladder racks, air bags etc. a lot more.
Hey Ron is the super cab and crew cab interchangeable? I have a super cab (rear half door) with a lot of rust . I found a donor cab but unfortunately it is a crew cab. Is it just possible for me to change it or is the bolt pattern different?
+DieselTechRon My vehicle is a long bed super cab. the donor vehicle is a short bed crew cab. I assume once I replace the super cab with a crew cab then the short bed should bolt on the frame with no problems? . Thanks

Anyway, you made an excellent point about the "auxiliary installed" accessories. First time I did this, I ate up into my labor time because I had to fight with a Clifford Alarm, and some driving lights. I had already quoted the customer, and he was not too happy to hear I had to add more time.
Sorry bud, that's on you if you didn't account for those. YOU'RE the pro, therefore YOU should think of that stuff. What if the customer had gotten 2 prices for the job, yours was lower, but the other guy had covered ALL the labor, but after you added the parts of the job YOU forgot about, your price ended up being HIGHER than the other guy? That's not fair to the customer. There's at least 2 types of "tuition": The one you pay in school, and the other one you pay for when you eat costs you didn't think about, or estimated too low. A customer should never have to pay for anyone's inexperience. I know what I'm talking about, because I'm a contractor, and have had to eat costs as I learned more and more about my trade. Mechanics are NO different!!
Nate B ? I give a 2 year warranty, 20k miles. Taking a Ford diesel out of warranty to a dealership is borderline senile. @Dave Smith if I had to guess, I would say somewhere around 6-8k. I used to do HG on these back in the days for about 4.5K. That included swapping out for all the new updated parts, and a new RMS.
to pull the engine, you have to pull the turbo, which takes even a veteran about 45 minutes...and that same dude can have a cab in the air in that time...and there's no need to remove the entire front fascia, which would add about another hour or so

Ford does not use coolant filters. I meant it's a good time to change the after market filter if equipped or install one. they save the oil coolers.

Old guys who take their rigs to the dealership for any issues and maintenance
Cab off is standard procedure these days for all modern diesel powered trucks. The new 6.7's even require cab off to remove the turbos.
Do you work at the dealer? I can't believe ppl would take a 10, 10+ yo truck to the dealer for HG replacement. Not a knock on you, just the cost! Wow

Lynx Star Automotive,
Approximately how much would Ford dealership charge for head gasket replacement? ??
If you are daily driving your truck the dealer is the only place worth paying for head gaskets just for the warranty.
