if harry actually died, apart from making the ending feel much more better, justifying more peter's reason to retire, it would also make norman's sudden hatred for spider-man also much more justified, since he wanted spidey to save him but couldn't.
I can honestly see them doing ultimate goblin for the 3rd game and that includes Norman killing Harry

From the sounds of it Spider-Man 3 did the miles revenge arc better. Peter is given flaws when seeking revenge like Peter "killing" Sandman and being okay with that and after nearly ruining his life realized that giving into his hatred and anger led him down a bad path
I just hate how nerfed Peter was in gameplay, you need to parry certain enemies because they can just block the attacks from a guy with fucking super strength, and the gadgets are shit compared to the first game, and they took away ALL the suit powers. Cutscene Peter was incompetent as fuck, his spider-sense just took a fucking holiday. Oh and a single knife wound killed him, despite it being said in the first game that he was once almost gutted by Fisk with a fucking SWORD and still lived.
Peter wasn't nerfed. People these days like to overreact to everything. Insomniac's version of Spider Man is always tough and he has 10 years of experience. He beated most villains like Electro, Vulture, Shocker, Scorpion, etc countless times. But yet along the way he was beaten countless times too as shown in the first one.
Whatever we see in Marvel's Spider Man 2 for Peter is the point. Insomniac is showing us the struggling side if Peter, something we barely seen. But both Peter and Miles have their fair share of defeats from villains.
Although yes Miles had shined in this game but Insomniac is just trying to show that Peter can always call Miles in case if he needs him. Plus Peter was op with the black symbiote and anti Venom symbiote and he still managed to make a comeback without it.
Y'all expect Peter In the game to not get a single hit. If Peter was too op then it wouldn't be impactful. In the game he did beat Kraven and almost kills him and Miles had to step in. He beaten Lizard, and Venom too.

@@JAYDOG1337A well that's the point. The goal is to make Kraven threatening and menacing in a way where Kraven is not who Peter think is he is. He needs to learn what is he going up against. He can't just beat him easily that wouldn't make it impactful.
In the comics, Peter was beaten by Kraven too like he was shot by a rifle in Kraven's Last Hunt comic.

Norman's sudden grudge against Spider-Man irked me as well, and it's a reaction that would have made more sense if Spider-Man had actually failed to get Harry out of the suit/Harry had died during the fight. If an entire army of his own goons, Kraven's goons and Kraven himself could not stop Harry then what exactly was he expecting Spider-Man to do to save him? A fight was inevitable and it's like he was expecting Harry to be just fine if he survived, despite being heavily corrupted and controlled by Venom on top of being sick and dying.
It boggles the mind, I'm not sure what he was expecting to see and I can't believe that's how his vendetta against Spider-Man starts, it's such a weak "motive"
the fact norman has faced no backlash when he was basically simon krieger from miles game made no sense to me the fact hes free is crazy to me.

The side missions are better because they are less repetitive and less filler unlike the first one. The first one has unnecessary filler missions and are more repetitive. More content doesn't mean better because quality over quantity. The side missions like Mysterio, Wraith, Howard and Grandpa side missions are all better then the side missions from the first game.
It's a huge improvement from its predecessors like combat, traversal, boss fights and MJ segments. Combat is more improved because it has depth like it has more combat varieties like spider arm abilities, symbiote abilities and Miles' bio electric abilities. It also has parry feature which adds depth to the combat. And there is rage mode. You don't just use square button, you also use R1 and L1 buttons too.
This might be my favorite Spiderman 2 review, mostly because you’re expressing the same issues with the game’s story that I’ve been thinking about but haven’t seen addressed in other reviews.
As sort of an FYI, the symbiote wings aren't new - they're part of Venom's new skillset following the King in Black story arc that took place in the comics, which... Act 3 basically rips off totally, but with Venom as the main villain.
I figured they ripped it straight out of a newer comic, at least it looked cool here

Miles rant not that i hate him but i know what modern day spider man writers are trying to do.
They should've reworked miles miles placement in the story as a side character because theres literally no point in miles being playable, like chasing black cat as miles was pointless, Harlem music instruments was pointless, Peter boss fight could've been switched to Peter fighting miles and miles being in the final boss fight was stupid. These modern day spider man writers need to understand the story of spider man is Peter Parker, it revolves around him, not only that but adapting the black suit spider man storyline is a slow burn that shows the characters reaction to Peter's downfall including the player reaction to Peter's transformation. So why is miles given the resources and development when the black suit story is more important.
I agree with everything bro said especially the combat and I have no idea why they got rid of the gadget wheel and only allowing us to have only those few gadgets what a waste of a button I would rather have that then the parry 100%. Because remember in the earlier games a perfect dodge WAS the parry then it would automatically web up the enemy, also I hated how they made us use skill points on abilities we already unlocked in the previous games that shii made no sense if you can’t have the creativity to give us different skills to select then by all means just give us less don’t fill us with options we already worked to unlock previous

I can relate to your love of Spider-Man 3 and the symbiote. I’m a huge fan of it too. And while this game has flaws from what I’ve seen, I’m still down to try the game myself. And Black Suit Spider-Man channels the actor’s Sasuke edginess from Naruto so much, I love it.
Good outweighs the bad. Although every games have flaws to be honest

i feel like li’s redemption would have been better if he died after saving peters life,dude murdered miles dad and countless other innocent people just cause he hated osborn. Him bein able to walk away when scorpion and all the other villains got killed off really bothered me
To point out your thing with assists it’s actually based on the point of the story you’re in
So before Pete gets the black suit but after rescuing tombstone (which is really only a couple missions) either Spider-Man can run into agent venom.
Same thing with wraith before you’ve activated her quest she’ll never appear but after a mission or two she’ll be able to be run into til you beat the quest.
And with Peter. He will not randomly appear to assist miles while he has the black suit on.
And at other story points where him and Peter can’t cross paths.
Ultimately who teams up with you has pretty specific context and activation requirements so it isn’t that random.
You were maybe playing as miles predominantly during times when you missed the opportunity for these characters to be likely to appear.
Or you just got unlucky
Thanks for clearing that up. My point was that I was able to see everyone as Peter, but got nobody as Miles. So the problem is likely I just didn't do enough random crimes as him
Nah, I believe there was a bug where Peter just didn’t show up. On my 2nd playthrough I played as Miles far more than Peter and not once did he ever show up when he didn’t have the Symbiote. Plenty of other people pointed this out during the first month of launch. Not sure if it’s fixed now, but it was definitely an issue.
I've been able to run into Wraith after beating the entire Flame storyline as both Miles and Peter, weirdly enough.
I’ll stand by this, the game is way better if you never upgrade your damage or health bar & play on the hardest difficulty. (Yes, I did this on my first play through because I was so hyped to play the story that I skipped most of the side missions & didn’t realize upgrading suit tech was a thug until the final act) Doing this makes the parry mechanic much more valuable in boss battles & makes them far more rewarding. It also means potential for much longer combos in regular enemy encounters.
Miles is known for his infamous useless backflips but this is something else XD

I have not finished the game yet but Mj missions are stealth missions where u can die, fail, lose. Spider man stealth is just be hidden until u win or they find u and u just easily fight ur way out. I agree they may not make story sense or be realistic but being able sneak past a lot of enemies or basically speed run a section designed to be slow was fun for me. There are actually decisions to make or more than one way to play them (mostly talking about the lizard mj mission)

There was potential to make something better. Mary Jane should've been more than just a cheap annoying discount Lois Lane. Miles should've been more in the story and have some struggles rather than barely be in it while being pushed as the Superior Spiderman. Harry should've stayed more as Agent Venom and when he becomes Venom it should've been in another way without rehashing Web of Shadows. As for Peter, he should be as competent as he was in the first game and not nerfed guy who can't handle the job, which is another thing that bothered me. He has been Spider-Man for over a decade and still can't have a balance between his life as Peter Parker and as Spiderman, but fucking Miles is able to have this balance
The first 2 acts were perfect, it's just the third act that was a bit rushed. It could have been at least an additional 2-5 hours long.
I think Venom wasn't fleshed out enough because the team wanted more Venom in the future so they wanted to save more Venom in his spin off game. Btw, according to leaks following the hack in Insomniac, Venom spin off game is coming in 2025. Here's to hoping he will be expanded in his own spin off game.

Biggest disappointment was the combat idk why but especially with the black suit it feels the exact same to play as the red suit when it’s supposed to be a change from peters normal fighting style and supposed to be more aggressive and deadly like wos and SD but insomniac they only gave it 4 limited moves and a shitty rage mode each character should be distinct and different from 1 another and feel different even with miles he just plays exactly like Peter but with lightning it’s just proving how lazy insomniac is when they can do better but refuse too for some reason

It's 2023 and we still can't web swing with two webs or are forced to wall run if Peter even smells a wall next to him. We need more options for traversal like older games gave us. Web wings won't win game of the yr.its easy. They should try and add more Spidey like moves but that requires work and creativity. Same things applies to combat, flashy moves ain't gonna sway me from the fact that they used as a crutch to not actually give Spidey more combat moves.

Insomniac never disappoints. Their track record is amazing and they never made a bad game. All of their games are critically acclaimed and sold plenty of copies. Insomniac is confident and passionate about Spider Man 2. They really meant it when they said Marvel's Spider Man 2 is the best game they have made before it launched. It paid off big time as it got 91 on Metacritic while the first one got 87. That 91 on Metacritic making it the highest Metacritic score of any Marvel game. And it sold plenty of copies of well.

Marvel's Spider Man 2 beated all the Rachet and Clank games with 91 on Metacritic and that's Insomniac highest Metacritic score of any of their games. So that determines that it is Insominac's best game. They made most improvements. The first game has flaws too. Quit acting like the first game has 0 criticisms. The majority loved it. Meanwhile, you're in the minority so that means you lose. Not only it's well received from critics and fans but also sold plenty of copies. And because of how amazing it is and everyone loved it, it builds on the hype for future of Insomniac games like Wolverine and Marvel's Spider Man 3.

Peters story is pretty decent, I very much enjoyed it for the most part. Miles´ story is horrible.., Mary Jane parts were annoying and the deaf girls game-play.... WTH was that...? The two moments mentioned here were really nice. The relationship between Pete and Harry was also pretty great. Wraith.... The dumbest character ever unless she has super powers I didnt notice.. Mary Jane is mostly fine but gets pretty annoying by the end of it..
Almost like it was an optional cute little side quest that further added to Haileys character 😮

Eh I didn’t like the gadget wheel some of the gadgets were cool or fun but ultimately felt pointless. I’ll say until the dlc of sm1 I did not find the combat all too hard
Now I don’t love the gadgets in sm2 either. I did like the idea of integrating certain gadgets as abilities spidey innately has like impact webbing. And the abilities are cool even if no matter which moveset venom, robot arms or symbiote you get essentially all the same moves
I think they use Doc Conners because they can’t/don’t use Mr. Fantastic he’s who Peter went to in the comics. (He’s fairly close to the Fantastic Four in the comics)

I just finished this game now and thank you for summing up my entire feelings towards this game. I love the bombastic, Hollywood-esque, Michael Bay style action in this sequel compared to the first and Miles' game, but man the writing is just so poorly done. The side quests are also very immersion breaking because of so many modern day references and it feels like the game wanted to lecture you about it. And the godawful pedestrians and NPCs. I'm Asian, but I'm pretty sure that New York should pretty much have more white people than Asians and African Americans. And it's funny how you get to see white people from the thug enemies more than the rest of the NPC population.

So I know I'm late, but the reason MJ looks different is because her facial model got into a car crash and had to get a ton of surgeries done on her jaw.
Problem is, the game already made a massive load of money. So who knows if they listen to fan feedback about story beats or if they even care. Cause they need new writers for spider-man 3.

I don't think it's all that bad design-wise - even if you don't like the colour scheme as is, you have the option of a few others to choose from for this suit which are much better. The only thing that really irks me about its design though is the hair sticking out at the top. It adds more to the point made earlier in the video about Peter and Miles not really trying to hide their identities anymore.

I'm sorry, I have to stop you regarding the likeness of Mary Jane. The writer from Insomniac being MJ's face is just objectively wrong.
It has been confirmed that the same facial model behind MJ in the first game is also the facial model for MJ in the 2nd.
Still doesn't excuse the face looking terrible by comparison to the first game, but at least double check.
The likeness to that writer is still uncanny though, and Insomniac could have adjusted the face after the actual facial model was scanned during production.

Honestly you voiced my issues with the game. I played it, enjoyed it. Adored getting my edgy boi for the short time he was around. But it didn’t amaze me and I was ready for it to be over at the end, whereas I felt THE OPPOSITE before the Kraven fight. My take away after immediately finishing it is that it wasn’t a bad experience, I may be eager to New Game + it later, but I do felt like they tried to do too much. Miles being especially odd. They do not enough at all in the second act and then way too much in the third. I thought that Mr. Negative was gonna be Miles’ black suit; that both Spider-men would go down a dark path and then rise together. Which they did do that, kinda, but in chasing both rabbits perhaps they failed to catch one, as Peter’s black suit was way too short and Miles just generally wanted to find Mr. Negative, but not to the degree that he harmed anyone as far as I recall. Mr. Negative has mind control powers, perhaps he could have sent minions or done something to try to solicit help from Kraven’s base, and that could’ve sent Miles on a mission, getting more and more frustrated as he gets closer but not quite finding him. I dunno, just an idea, but the game is busy enough as it is for how short it is (why does this always happen with Venom?)

The best Marvel/Spider Man game. And it's a perfect sequel and definitely better then the first 2 games. It's definetly the perfect Spider-Man/Marvel game. Yes it does have flaws too but the good outweighs the bad. To be fair, every games have flaws even the 10/10 games.

@cozminr You keep your mouth shut. None of the Insomniac Spider Man games are bad. All are amazing. They are well received by critics and fans and sold plenty of copies. Insomniac is the king of Spider Man games. The last ever worst Spider Man game we got was TASM 2 game. Marvel's Spider Man 2 got 91 on Metacritic making it the highest Metacritic score of any Marvel game. That's no where near mid. It's fantastic and it's objectively better then the first one.
It did deliver. The story was amazing that's why it's nominated for best narrative. The first 2 acts were perfect, it's just the third act that was a bit rushed. But the story for the first one is a bit better (the only thing that the first one got that's better). But better game overall is Marvel's Spider Man 2
The side missions are better because they are less repetitive and less filler unlike the first one. The first one has unnecessary filler missions and are more repetitive. More content doesn't mean better because quality over quantity. The side missions like Mysterio, Wraith, Howard and Grandpa side missions are all better then the side missions from the first game.
It's a huge improvement from its predecessors like combat, traversal, boss fights and MJ segments. Combat is more improved because it has depth like it has more combat varieties like spider arm abilities, symbiote abilities and Miles' bio electric abilities. It also has parry feature which adds depth to the combat. And there is rage mode. You don't just use square button, you also use R1 and L1 buttons too.

@@Shahriyararin63Bro the game is a step down from the first game story wise. Venom feels more like an obstacle rather then a character, Miles feels more like an afterthought rather than a main character, and Peter is strangely nerfed in this game.
Ooh, nope. Stopped watching at 8:06. "To which I respond, 'Just no. Act 3 is bad.'" You've now failed at giving an actual review/critique. You can't just blanket a whole section of the game, saying "this was bad because reasons." That's not how you do a review. And to counter some of your other points:
The map size absolutely does matter. Exploration does matter. The freedom of the environment does matter, especially in a game that focuses on traversal like this. Not only that, but people were ASKING for the rest of New York to be available. Of course that's going to be a big selling point, why do you think people were amazed by Spider-Man 2 back in 2004??
The side missions were just fine. Yes, there were a bit less of them, but the ones we did get were incredible. That's a fair trade off. The two emotional ones you mentioned, plus Wraith's entire storyline culminating with the Carnage tease, and even Miles tracking down the instruments. I get that some people thought these were dumb and boring, but... He's a "friendly neighborhood Spider-Man." That's the whole point - helping out the neighborhood. It's not all about fighting aliens and armies of soldiers or assassins or what have you.
Back to your point about "Act 3 is bad." No, it really isn't. It's a matter of preference, and simply calling it "bad" over footage of Miles' (admittedly) awful final suit is just juvenile. It means you didn't have ANY actual points, so you just showed a scene of something most people already don't like, hoping they'd just agree.
Now, was this comic accurate Venom? Hell no. Was it still fun and was the story still impactful for what it was? Absolutely. I'm a huge Venom fanboy, so naturally, Spider-Man 3's Venom was total fucking dogshit. The Venom movies are a little better, but still not good. At least they got his personality right. This Venom is pretty different from the comics, mostly in that his personality is different. BUT - this is supposed to be Insomniac's take on the character. It's a new iteration, and they told us that from the beginning. Plus, there have been versions of Venom where he's just a big monster. At least this one had thoughts and plans and motivations, unlike Ultimate Spider-Man's (for the most part). Venom was still scary and imposing, the conflict with Harry was emotional, and to use your word, it was an absolute spectacle. If you think Sandman is a bigger and more exciting moment than both Spider-Men punching a rampaging Venom with wings in the sky, with Peter desperately crying out to his friends, then I don't know what to tell you.
And actually, now that I think about it, the biggest offense was at 3:55. "Splash cold water and say 'None of that matters'"? What the hell? You don't get to write off huge chunks of the game and just say "Nope, doesn't matter." Um.. Yeah, it does. Not only did I already provide counterarguments to this ridiculous claim, but once again, giving these flat out statements of "this is bad because reasons" or "these major facets of the game do not matter" is not only insulting, but just flat out poor etiquette. I get that small channels need a way to garner views and subscribers, but spouting off a controversial take without any substantial and meaningful evidence to back it up, just for the sake of being controversial, is the laziest way to do it.
Edit: Side note, if you're going to review anything Spider-Man related, can you at least pronounce "Symbiote" correctly? It's not even just a Spider-Man term, it's an actual scientific classification, and it's NOT pronounced "Sim-Bye-Oat." There's a reason the Venom movie had to change this after the first trailer.
"To which I'll respond for NOW..." If you actually watched ahead or even checked the Timestamps, I dedicate an entire section to the video talking about Act 3 and why I didn't like it. Also, that's quite a lot you have to say for only watching 8 minutes apparently but let me try to respond...
-Map size matters if it adds any new elements of exploration which Spider-Man 2 fails to do. Note that traversal and exploration are not the same thing if there's nothing to actually look at or interact with.
-I agree with you about the side missions, my point was actually how I wished there were more of them because the game lacks content.
-Again watch the Act 3 segment if you want a proper critique about it. Me saying it's bad is just my subjective take on an entire fraction of the game I did not enjoy at all.
-We're gonna have to agree to disagree about Venom, I didn't think he was that interesting in Act 3.
-My saying "none of that matters" is to segway into my actual criticisms that immediately follow. I'm not being a contrarian for the sake of it, I get that you liked the game, I simply did not.

Dude I couldn't agree more, some of his points felt very lukewarm and didn't hold a candle he needed to do a little more research because oh man this review sort of felt like synthetic man just without the blatant homophobic banter and pure hermit dwelling mindset.
