      There have been those attacks, on and off, for well over fifteen years. Much like the forest fires started by the an ti fa thugs, as well as the preposterous 'oversight' by the liberal government there in Sacramento not clearing away the dead trees. That procedure, alone, when carried out for decades and decades, kept large scale forest fires from happening. The present regime in California, I guess, gives the old tired excuse of 'global warming' as reason for the fires ... it plays into this entire agenda.

    It might be a good idea to help "train" children by taking a night or weekend to power down. Especially if they haven't had a chance to camp and make foods that are different. You could set up a small tent in your living room, use lanterns, have some fun snack type foods (things that don't require cooking), etc. Make it fun. Make it an adventure, indoors. Go outside at some point and cook a meal in a bush pot over twigs if you have a spot in your yard available and safe for use. Let them have a bit of roughing it experience plus it has a latent benefit of the children being able to experience different safety factors and more.

    We had a high wind storm here in New England which knocked out power widespread.
    Even with the storm forecasted for over a week , it still caught many folks unprepared. Many areas had no electricity for 4 or more nights.
    We had invested in a Power Box or solar generator along with our other modest preps.
    This helped us very much to keep warm and safe and be able to help others not as prepared.
    Be well, thank you .

    • @hockeyplayah7912
      @hockeyplayah7912 Pƙed rokem +2

      I hadn't really looked at a solar generator but may add that as well. Remember the ICE storm in NE back in 2008? My daughter was born the night of the storm. 2 days later the hospital said "thanks for coming but you've gotta go now". We didn't have power for 2 weeks in southern NH. Bought a gas generator to run the necessities but had to drive 30 mins to find a gas station with power. That solar back up may be key.

    • @grumpy1311
      @grumpy1311 Pƙed rokem +2

      @@hockeyplayah7912 I definitely remember thar ice storm!! Had no idea how great of an impact it was going to have, partly because I had never experienced anything like that.
      We were using our propane powered generator to charge the power box / solar charger box.
      We had the generator but it's not wired to the house , so couldn't run the furnace or well pump.
      But we could run the refrigerator and lighting and a small heater from the propane generator.
      We used the power box to run the refrigerator overnight and it was great.
      My sister had no power and no generator. The power box would let her run lighting and her refrigerator overnight and still have 25% power remaining the next day, and she could bring it down to us to recharge it.
      I would say they are a good compact source of safe power.
      i do have several solar panels to charge the power box , but on the brightest sunny day in mid summer it took most if the day to charge from 0 to 100%
      Charging rates would obviously be lower in winter , but at least in a long term grid down scenario, it would be generating true stand alone usable power.
      People were arguing over gas station pizza here during the recent power outage,, and it was over the holiday , so most big supply stores were closed .
      We couldn't get propane filled for our generator, but thankfully during the good times I had purchased several extra tanks .
      That's the best way is to be prepared and not have to be out looking for supplies with the zombie hoard!

      @hockeyplayah7912 Pƙed rokem +2

I camped out in my cold house with my 2 year old son the first night and tried to get a generator the next morning. Everyone within 50+ miles was sold out. Day 2 I got lucky and was told there's a truck with 2 generators coming in 15 minutes which I met at the dock. Over priced? Yup! but I had a 2 year old and a new born.... moral is be prepared before you need to rush around and HOPE things work out.

    There were several recent attacks on electric power substations near Seattle in Washington State USA. Taking out the grid in a large metro area is ridiculously easy and the potential damage is severe.

We actually have daffodils sprouting in the gardens in our street here in Northern England - they are not due until March! Lots of buds on the trees and other plants coming up too. Keep up the good work Lilly. Thank you. I have been using paraffin (Kerosine) lamps (Aladdin mantle lamps) and heaters to cut down on the energy bills. I've also purchased a vintage Primus paraffin stove from ebay. These Paraffin "technology" items were at the peak of their development when I was growing up (I'm 69). Younger folk I talk to have never heard of them, and they are forgotten items in the modern, flick a switch, age - but they work just fine, once you get used to them.

      @@karenbuckner1959 Well before WWII Karen. No, no supply issues at the moment. I bought some in 25Ltr drums, so I have a little stock. I buy lamp oil which is a little more expensive, but doesn't smell. Paraffin tech has been around for well over 100 years. When I was a kid (born 1953) it was common place. When my Dad left the RAF we couldn't get a house straight away, 2 year waiting list. We had to live in an old railway carriage, located on a farm. There were lots of folk living in old railway carriages then. A national shortage of housing. They just took the wheels off and mounted them on bricks or railway sleepers. There was no electricity, an outside toilet at the bottom of the garden, which the local authority came periodically to empty, and only one running cold water tap. The only lighting we had was an Aladdin mantle paraffin lamp. We did have a coal fired cooker, of a sort. The candles on the Christmas tree were real candles, as you see now only on a birthday cake. No smoke alarms or carbon monoxide alarms. We had ice on both sides of the windows in the winter, because of the condensation. With what's been happening recently I decided to look into reviving some of these things. All of the parts are readily available on the internet and the technology is simple to understand. Prices have started to go up mind, for obvious reasons! One can easily cook a decent meal on a Primus stove, once heated and running it behaves like any other natural gas cooker, you can read by oil lamp, keep warm with a paraffin heater or braze, solder or strip paint with a paraffin blow lamp! But they are an obvious fire hazard. They do have to be carefully managed. Forget flicking a switch! It's almost become a new hobby for me. I now have 3 Aladdin oil lamps, 2 blow lamps, 4 Primus stoves and 2 paraffin heaters! One thing though, they are all kerosine/paraffin dependent (although it's possible to use other fuels. E.g. cooking oil. You still need alternatives, such as a Trangia alcohol cooker or a Primus gasoline stove. Fossils fuels could be making a come back - for emergencies anyway!

    The extreme hot and cold is due to an extremely unstable polar vortex. Lower differences in temps between the air masses in the polar regions and the air masses on the equator tend to cause the vortex to be less stable. The trees are smarter than you are giving them credit for. If you see buds opening, it will be in late winter or early spring. This can still harm plants, but they will not open in early or mid winter. You are likely seeing buds that exist in fall and open in spring. Many trees do this. They use the length of sunlight they get in a day to determine when to open the leaves, in conjunction with how hot or cold it is.

It happened here once when I was a child. The only reason why I remember it, was because it was a very huge deal when the trees were budding that year. I remember how everyone said it hurts the trees very much to have the weather do this to them. To tell them to hibernate and then to come out of hibernation just to have the temps fall again and freeze them hard. I think it happened some time in the 90’s if I remember right.

      In '06 There was an ice storm/blizzard in early March after trees were budded out, and it took me two months to cut all the brush for town and chip it. What it does is that part of the tree will turn brown so the tree won't grow very much the next spring. So then there's tons of brush. The southern hemisphere's weather has been impacted by the massive explosive eruption of Tonga volcanic Island in January of 2022. The sulfur dioxide will be in the stratosphere for two years.

      I've only heard of Oxford but more are on the way soon. But they are only trying... The globalist went for this Great Reset the last 2yrs & they made minimal success.
      I'm sure they'll be successful with big ticket items - the only one that matters, the digital currency gives all control so then its over.

    I'm not a big conspiracy theorist; but with the really odd weather trends we've seen the past 2-3 months alone, I really wonder if a certain country or countries are possibly be practicing weather warfare? Notice how the US is getting some really nasty storms with crazy snowfalls and extremely low temperatures in usually warm places? Countries have experimented with this idea in the past, including attempting to manipulate the weather for more rain as China did recently to protect its grain harvest. The current conflicts of the world need to stop, as do the political games!
    Fortunately we have people like Lilly to help educate and positively encourage the masses to learn how to survive on our own means.

      Weather modification has been used since the 1940 in the US. Modern Marvel's has a episodes on it and how it's being used today. Technology has come a long way with geo engineering everything from agricultural, the weather and our genes with CRISPR.

      I think you've created your own warfare, against yourselves. Heavy use of carbon based fuels. And the US Military is said to be the world's worst polluter. If the resources put into that, were used for positive useful projects the world would be a better place. That applies to many other countries as well though on a lesser scale. These things have consequences. But nothing will change. Except the weather.

    Zippo hand warmers are pretty cheap. Worth checking the math on how fuel efficient they are. I use the 12hour model with a second bag, lasts almost 20 hours. Keeps my hoody nice and toasty.
