Here in the UK if the annual domestic electricity bill was £1500 in 2021 the bill for 2023 will be around £3400 or an Inflation rate increase of approximately 127%
Food cost inflation depending on purchasing patterns is probably running between 50 - 75% here in the UK. The Government Authorities would like everyone to believe that inflation is around 10%

Even if they can prove a rate of 10%, it's 10% at every process step from raw material to consumer purchase and with up to a dozen or more steps each adding 10%, pretty soon that 10% costs 127%+ Somehow they never factor that compounding effect into their political spiel...

I don't Europe able to get much Russian NatGas for 2023 & beyond, especially with Nord Stream 1&2 offline, Ukraine in shambles, Turkey (earthquake). @@SurvivalLilly I lived in Phuket for roughly 10 years. I chose it because it has excellent beaches for surfing and snorkeling. Has an international airport, modern hospitals, great food, cheap, friendly people, low crime, and a short flight to many Asian countries. And it is beautiful. I can live a better lifestyle than Hawaii for about 1/6 the cost. For example, I am paying $1350/mo for a tiny one-room apartment in Honolulu. I can get a 2-bedroom house in Phuket for less than $300. It is generally hot and humid. That is the most significant negative. Do things in the morning and night outside. Not a big problem, really. Other places like Chiang Mai in the NW have their charm, suitable for a visit. I had a cancer scare 2 years ago, I gave up a lot of food, (I did this after finding out Cancer cannot live without you eating) Cancer cannot live if there's no sugar in your body and Glutathione (Glutathione is in food, so no food and no sugar both kill cancer cells. So, no sugar, nothing with sugar in it, no grains, wheat, oats, corn, rice, and finally no dairy no milk, yogurt, cheese. I've heard you can lose weight easily by cutting your food intake by 30%. I cut out a lot more, I went from 230 lbs Christmas of 2020, as of Christmas of 2022 I was down to 142 lbs. The problem with people today is they look at food as an entertainment, a crutch or just for fun. That's why over 10% of Americans have Diabetes, and probably more, they just don't know it yet. I can't live without heat (although back in the 1800's people made it work without electricity or gas), so there will always be a way to outsmart the big power companies. Natural Gas wasn't around back then either but there was always food. Now that I've gone from a 38 inch waist to a 32 inch waist, my Hypertension (High Blood Pressure), I've had for over 20 years is gone, now at over 70 years old, my resting blood pressure is 118,to 120 over 62 to 65. So, I save on groceries and doctor bills with no more Rx's. Wait until your hungry to eat, I mean really hungry not just eating because it's time to eat. I wonder how many people know what it's like to be hungry, we've been conditioned to eat whether we need to or not. Don't look at 3 meals a day as a way to get healthy, I don't eat anything until after noon, then it's very small and the bulk of my food is eaten before 6 pm. You have to learn to eat stuff you can't stand, but green veggies can be made that don't taste terrible with the right add ons, NO CHEATING, NO SNACKING. Good Luck, It will change your life. Peace, Love and Good luck to all that make it a new lifestyle instead of a Diet.

I heat up now only once or twice per week for couple of hours. Mostly it's 14-16°C in my house, depending on weather. It's gonna be tough.

@@ms-jl6dl ;Leeft U bij de zee, de Meer, of binnenland? Dat is jammer om zoveel nog te moeten ( now phone is not letting me write Dutch as it changes every word to the nearest spelled English word). To pay that amount is ridiculous. Are you wearing a coat and hat. Is your home that warm often on a winter night- 15 to 16 °C? When I grew up in The Hague, we only had heat from a pot- belly stove in the voorkamer and none in de 3 bedrooms. It was normal for everyone to sleep in freezing cold bedrooms at least in de 1950's and when you undressed your skin hurt from the cold. That usually happens in the minus below teens Centigrade like -12° C in my German apartment in early 1979. Have you covered your windows in plastic? Here in Walmart's in USA, in the fabric (sewing) department, they have 54" wide rolls of clear almost as glass vinyl with a very thick thickness that you can cut to size you want and cover your whole window opening, not just the glass, and have about 4 inches extra on all sides and hang it up with pushpins or tacks, flat against the wall. Also, any body oil coming from your skin and any lotions, also sweat, will make you freeze. What about an electric blanket? Costs much less to use than your furnace. Just cover it with a regular blanket to keep the heat near you. Which floor are you on? Where are your pipes? Keep pipes at 50°F or if not on the outer walls 45°F might do. But most importantly, bathe if you have done any physical work. If I walk to a store only 5 minutes away on a freezing cold night and come back home, I will start shaking violently after sitting down for half an hour so I bathe and am comfortable in a very cold home.

Lilly, I am feeling your pain. I live in the desert southwest of the United States. Energy costs have increased by a little over 20%. Since I live at high altitude, the winters get cold. I can handle the increase in energy costs. What I am struggling with is the cost of food. A year ago, a 5 oz. can of chicken cost $0.98 USD. Yesterday, the price of the same can of chicken is $2.15 USD! Other protein sources such as eggs and meat have increased the same. For this reason, my main source of protein is fish that I catch in local reservoirs, canals, and rivers. Also a local Walmart that provided low cost food to thousands is closing. This means I will be living in a food desert in a few weeks. I will have to commute an hour each way just to buy food. I am already relying on survival skills to stay alive! Thank you for the priceless information. Showing the paper is perfect! The scam here in extreme south central Kentucky is that they charge a flat fee for the stupid electric meter then add on the electricity usage. When I bought the place 8 years ago the garage had a meter. No usage still had a extra bill of $25. I told them to remove the meter before I take it off in multiple pieces. Then I ran some Romex from the outside breaker box to power the garage for instant savings. I calculate the fee plus the usage and it has increased over the past year from 12 to 16 cents per Kwh. My little town sells the gas and in a year it went from 90 cents per 100 cubic feet up to $1.24 per hundred cubic feet. Most Americans still don't realize that they are National Socialists worse than Germany in the 1940's. I am almost 60 and have lived through the total transformation from a make everything at home economy to import everything now. America has lasted this long only by a total massive welfare system that younger people think it is normal. I haul freight and know many people from eastern Europe. They all agree with me that America is the new Soviet Union. The homeless population is absolutely exploding and people still wave that flag and claim that a new president will fix everything. That is how stupid and mentally ill Americans are. At least in Europe the people know they are under total tyranny from the United Nations. Keep up the informative videos Lilly.

My bf and I live in a small town in Texas. Our electricity bills when we first moved here about 2 years ago were on average $200-250/month, even during a scorching summer. Our first summer here, we had a window unit in four rooms because the central A/C unit wasn't working then. They would run 24/7. And even then, our bills were still under $300. Once we had the central unit fixed, our electric company came out and installed a smart meter against our will. First, our bills went up to about $400+ (this past summer). We had a nice little break during the fall season. And for the past few months, our electricity bills have been a little over $600. It's been tough. We honestly barely touch the heater. We don't have gas running throughout the house yet. But our neighbor who does, says her electric bill is around $400-450, so if you include the price of gas, I would say it comes out to about $600 as well. This is crazy. We're talking about an older woman who lives alone and survives off of social security. People in this town are barely making it. Eventually, a lot of us if not all of us, will get to a point where we'll have nothing to lose. As much as I wish this wasn't our current reality, I kind of look forward to that day. Hi Lily, in the UK I use a wood stove to heat my house and water ( there is so much scrap wood around thanks to house renovations). I have solar panels and battery back up so my electricity bill is zero. However the government is subsidising the power companies and this will end in April so may need to upgrade the output. Also be aware you will only achieve half the rated output of your solar panels on a cloudy day. Great work keep it up!

I keep telling people to gather scrap wood from the woods, roadsides, alley and other random places. I live in Florida, hardly known for hardwoods, mostly evergreens and palm trees. We do have a variety of oak. But you can drive around through alleys and find enough tree branches/twigs/stump to fill a pickup truck in a couple of hours. The city takes all this to landfills or recycling dumps every week or so. But anything that burns and is not toxic (such as pressure treated wood, oleander, etc) is there for the taking. People don't pay attention to the small stuff. Which is a shame, because a lot of small stuff can make a huge difference, even though it burns faster. For people who are truly pinching pennies, scrap wood is priceless. Tree cutters/trimmers would make a great source of scrap wood that is no "good" for acceptable firewood. They might be thrilled to dump it in your yard.

Hi Lilly, my wife and I live in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and everything is going up here, including our health insurance. We are 69 years old and have saved our entire lives, planted a garden, and lived on a small budget. The electric company has increased fix charges so even if you cut back on usage your bill has gone up. Our city water/sewer bill has increased two year in a row and well as our rent. We do not eat out and cook all our meals, but it is easy to come home with one grocery bag with fruit, vegetables, and canned goods and it will be over $100 dollars. We rent in a senior housing complex and our rent has gone up $30 per month last year and $50 per month this year. I put all my small solar panels out and use my batteries for lights, we cannot install a bigger system here. We have savings but the government pasted their debt ceiling of 31.4 trillion dollars over a month ago and have until June before they default, their trade deficit is over a trillion dollars as well, so how safe are our investments is anyones guess. The government is so corrupt so there is no voting any positive change. I am so sorry they blew up the Nord Stream pipelines and cause all these problems, and now they are going after China and messing with Taiwan, it is insane! with all due respect it’s unfortunate cost of living is going up and people are struggling to get by. I trust in the American government not so much in domestic affairs but more in international affairs. Russia attacked a sovereign nation as a form of 21st century imperialism, and China has violated international law by not respecting territorial waters of other nations in Asia. We didn’t blow up the pipeline and we’re not going after China. They are imposing their authoritarian will against the international community and we are helping countries fight back. If you believe America is corrupt, fine. It’s hard to objectively argue that. But 143 nations all voting against Moscow in the UN can’t be all corrupt.

Near San Francisco, I pay $0.33 per kilowatt hour for the first 292 kwh used in a month. Then it steps up to $0.39 per kilowatt hour for ''Tier 2'' usage. There is an ''excess consumption'' charge at around 1100 kwh per month charged at $0.49 per kwh. In my 279 square meter square house, I use about 450 kwh average per month. I do not have refrigeration air conditioning but rely on a water evaporative cooler that uses 400 watts on low flow and 605 on high flow. Therefore my electric energy consumption is much lower than that of my neighbors. It gets to 40C and higher in August and September at times.
It appears that you will still be paying less for electricity after the new contract takes effect as compared to what I pay. I have limited solar available due to the tall hills and large trees covering them. But it is enough to recharge batteries to run the refrigerator and 2 freezers in an emergency.
As far as natural gas, the utility company charges in Therms, not cubic meters. A Therm is 100,000 BTU. I pay $2.89 per Therm. A year ago, my central furnace was set to 61F, 16C day and night. This burned about 116 Therms per month in January 2022. Hot water heating and cooking accounts for about 9 Therms of it. Last month I shut off the furnace. On some mornings it was 52F or 11.11C in the living room. I sleep under an 80 watt electric blanket set to its lowest setting, using negligible electricity and is very comfortable. In the mornings, I use a 10,000 BTU propane heater to warm up part of the living room. The propane costs $2.25 per kg. California heavily discourages burning of firewood. There are some ''No Burn'' days where a violation can get a $1000 fine. I have 2 airtight fireplace wood stoves that were installed in the 1980's. My hill is covered in huge Oak trees and some day I may need to resort to trimming them and burning the firewood to cook and warm the house.
The high cost of energy is a global problem constructed in the last 15 years. The WEF and the United Nations with their Agenda 30 are trying to completely stop the use of fossil fuels throughout the world. They do this by creating artificial shortages, bribing politicians, and through agenda pushing environmentalists who are in it for the money, not for ''saving'' the planet. Greedy corporations have the leverage to force whole governments to comply with their wishes. Best of luck to you.

For one month of electricity I paid $68.03 and that's for 264 kWh. The bill breaks down like this, $45.88 to deliver the power, $1.39 regulatory charge, federal tax $9.21, provincial rebate of -$12.05. So I paid and used $23.60 of power. I have hydro as my back up as I DIY solar project. I have a total of 1500 watt solar panel. I bought over time Lithium batteries and now have 14,400 kWh stored. Plus I bought a small used electric vehicle and in emergencies, I can hot wire the car to the cabin for about a month of stored power. Do you have a 'Standing charge' in Austria ? This is a daily charge to be connected to the grid regardless of how much you use. In the UK this is about 45p/day (varies by contract), so your bill is £160/year before you use any power. I find this charge really annoying because I try hard to reduce electricity usage, but still get hit with this daily charge.

Great video Lilly. Thank you for sharing. I am here in Florida, and I am giving serious thought to building a solar array my backyard. My only concern is hurricane damage to the panels. I considered placing solar panels on the roof, but I am not sure the roof is structurally strong enough to support the weight of the panels in a 240 kilometer per hour (150 mph) hurricane wind. Have a great weekend Lilly. Cheers.

I have a well I want to put a solar powered pump in, that will knock almost 30.00 off my bill, water and power come on same bill here.

Also the more spraying the geoengineers do for their cloud seeding and weather modification, the more gray days and less sun there will be for your solar panels. I think magnets might be better than solar.

If your handy build a small off grid system (not grid tied). My system is 9 panels/900 watts with a 5kwh battery. The math and practicality of grid tied just does not add up. In the cases of high winds Panels you installed yourself are easy to remove without voiding warranties or concerns with contracts. Additionally you can always start with a small system and go bigger over time if needed. Owning the system and it Being more portable is nice a great benefit as well

Most of my water are being used twice. I have a large batteries storage. Yes, there are high upfront cost but it give me a sense of what little control I have of my life. I have plenty of eggs from my Hens and this year a green-house for fish and veggies,

I'm getting by on my solar system. I'll be adding a 1kw wind generator this spring. And about four more batteries for a total of 24. The MT50 meter says that the system made 1615 kwH last year. The thing is, most of that is made in the summer and fall. It has been raining and snowy here so much that I had to use the gasoline generator once for twenty minutes to charge the battery bank a few days ago. There is more snow coming this weekend so I'm glad the battery bank is getting charged well today. The lead acid batteries don't do as well in the cold period, so I think the wind generator will be a major improvement. It will keep the batteries warmer by charging them while keeping the voltage up. I'm waiting for the wind generator company to start back up after their supply chain got disrupted. It will cost around $2000 for the wind generator and four more batteries. But, no electricity bill payment for the next ten years... now you see why I have went off grid. It's much cheaper, and you get to have your own equipment to make power. The prices of rented power will keep going up, and you'll own nothing to make your life easier. It was the only way I could see to get some positive results, so now I have done it. Grid energy prices don't affect me very much. I don't have that kind of money to give away unless it is hardware, like this ton of batteries here. What makes solar panels worth it is, once you get it set up, the energy will be free from then on. I found a nice deal on two solar panels for $137, so I'm about to order a pair of panels. That will put me at 1400 watts of solar panels. It's cheaper to buy these things than to pay big bills with nothing to show for it. I trust your initial gut feeling of having solar panels and being independent from the power grid bill. It will only get worse if you don't, I think. When I first subbed to your channel, I had eight batteries in the system, now I have twenty, soon it will be twenty four. That is the only solution I have. First they made power cheaper and got everyone on it, got them all hooked really good on it, and then they started raising the price. So they don't think of getting off of it right away.

@bringsdogtowork yes, we could merge systems, and if the wind was blowing, probably be making 2200-2500 watts a lot of the time. That would be a great system. You might be interested in the HQST closeout sale on 100 watts mono panels, two for $137 on Amazon. I'm trying to decide if I should get two more, the Midnite classic charge controller Is around $700. And I'm getting that for the windmill. I'm just trying to get it all before the prices get so high that I can't get there. So it's very attractive to get a couple more, I have heard that the price of the new ones will be higher. Newer and better, I guess. Just an excuse for raising the price. Great minds think alike. You and I have the right idea, don't we? LOL. That would be amazing to hook both systems together. Especially with the wind generator. That would be awesome. I've got some big solder on type wire terminals that I'm saving for just such an occasion. You could make your deadline, and I could quit buying so much of it, lol.

Over here in Canada 🇨🇦 it hasn't went up anything noticeable. Our groceries have gone up alot however. And some stores are taking advantage of the price Increase.
Gas prices have remained the same, and have actually went down since the start of the Russian invasion into Ukraine.
I do think much of the world has been living in a dream state...getting all the luxuries and conveniences for cheap. I think most things in our life ( unfortunately) should be more expensive. There's so much waste when we get things cheaply...
Although , it will be the wealthy who won't need to change their lifestyle if prices go up. The rest of us will. That's a major downside.
In any case, cities have been living nicely for too cheap, it's been unrealistic.
I feel for you guys in Europe who are feeling this. Complicated problem.
Good info on the solar panels. This is where residential homes will need to update their structures.

Hello Lilly, greetings from the Yukon. Everything here has to be trucked in at an added cost, fuel, food, clothing, building supplies, you name it. Though we have a hydro damn right here, it does not produce enough electricity in the winter months, and fuel has to be trucked up the Alaska Hiway to power diesel generators to make up the short fall. Our days are short in the winter, making solar a so so investment. It's not cheap living in the north!
