@Survival Lilly • First, I love the way you are able to laugh at yourself, like when you say "Or buy more tools."
I agree with your analysis of the possible outcomes of supply chain issues but I don't think it will lead to economic collapse. When the world was going through the industrial revolution, people left farms for industry jobs in cities. There weren't enough houses for workers and not enough workers on farms. But people addressed those issues by building houses in cities and farm machinery to replace workers. It took time and people thought that was the end of the world as people suffered through the change.
We are living in the middle of another time of significant change, but each of the problems has a solution. I think we will find them just as the people during the industrial revolution. Expanding the current energy grid throughout Europe will address the energy issues in the long term, but individual solar panels are great for homes in the near term to avoid suffering.
Hunger is an issue but China and Africa are working on reclaiming the dessert for more arable land, which will keep people from leaving.
I can't write much in a CZcams comment section but the best advice is always "Prepare for the worst and hope for the best." 😉😊🖖

Blessings to everyone from Peru. No food shortage here. This is an example of how decentralized the food is here, as it comes directly from the farmers nearby even with their own transportation. Thank God the climate here is perfect for growing near the Andes, dry zones, and tropics. Where I am we are blessed with tropical climate just east of the Andes. You won't find warehouses and grocery stores here. It's all bought at the local mercados. A full weeks of fruit & veggies will cost you S/ 60 ($20) for a family of 4. Full chicken is S / 24 or $6 (S/ 11 per kg) . Let's prep together.
I still have money sitting in US accounts, wondering if it would be a smart move to convert it all to soles to triple my wealth, and instantly gain quadruple purchasing power, due to the cheap cost of living and labour here. Building a small wooden cabin only costs $2K and a secure brick house $15K .
I was born in N.America, and I don't think I will be coming back. At least here in Peru we can buy much more time for prepping before everything becomes global and Peru is very behind in the digital currency agenda. Self sufficiency is the way to go. We are going back to the basics. Horses, cooking with wood fuel, animal manure, cattle, etc.
Thank you for all your updates Lily.

@@raysova7666 I've been to Paraguay and from a terrain point of view it's mostly flat land with barely any trees or mountains, over the decades it's been converted to mostly cattle ranch land. So for seeking refuge and hiding out, I'd say it's not such a great option. Most grassland and a few hills, with the highest point reaching 800 m. For water sources, there is one major river that flows from the north (Brazil), connecting 5 countries that feeds most of its water basin forming smaller rivers. The weather is tropical to sub tropical with winter temp varying 13 to 21 degrees. Also, there is no access to sea, so all seafood is imported, but not to say there is no fish.
As far as free market mercados and food coming directly from the farmers without warehouses, Paraguay like Argentina & Chile rely mostly on grocery store corporations and distribution, with only a handful of companies owning majority of the food supply. Peru on the contrary relies mostly on farmers and mercados.
Interesting story in Paraguay, where Europeans and other foreigners left their countries vax mandates to live in "Green Paradise" a self sustaining community. Unfortunately they blew their cover when they invited a journalist and got bad coverage in the media labelling them anti vaccine and Nazis. Look up "Paraguay paraíso verde" or "Paraguay paraíso antivacunas". So not sure what will come out of it, but it's a great idea.
We are starting just that in an undisclosed location in Peru in the tropics close to mountains forests and surrounded by agriculture.
I hope you find this info useful. Wishing you the best Ray 🙌🏼

It meant that when things went crazy with everybody panic buying I could afford to wait a day, a week or even a month to buy those same items at times. Even when I did not need more of it having a small stockpile that grows gradually just simplifies my shopping as when I forget to buy something I am not forced to make another trip to the supermarket.

Things are grim, but not because of what you might think it is. The food crisis is a big lie, because it existed long before the war. Ukraine´s grain problem does not represent that big a deal, because Ukraine´s importance is being overstated. Ukraine´s grain production is smaller than France´s production. The 3 major producers are China, then India, and then Russia. It is the sanctions on Russia that are causing food problems, but the US/EU governments don´t want you to know that, because then the public would demand to take the sanctions away. They want to maintain their narrative that Russia caused all this, while conveniently hiding that it was them that staged the coup in 2014, and then propped up a nazi regime across Ukraine! It was this regime and NATO that caused the war, by attacking the eastern people for 8 years, while hiding it in the media. It should have never been allowed to reach this stage where Russia had to intervene.
Where was the UN in all these years? Where was Amnesty International? Where was the EU? No one cared about those people! No one cared nazis were taking over the country, even though a few media outlets tried to raise the alarm, and were ignored. No media ever reported that Ukraine was poised to attack the Donbas yet again, with 100k men! All this was done to portray Russia as the villain, so that when they implemented the sanctions that killed us, we wouldn´t be angry, and they could continue to push their narrative at will. Would you allow them to do it if you knew they were allying themselves with the scum of the Earth, just like they did in Syria?
It is our fault, we the european public. We let our rulers do it to ourselves. It was we who turned off the gas. We turned off the oil. Heck, the gas turbine to keep the gas flowing is still in Germany!! They never sent it! And then we complain to Russia about not receiving enough gas, when we said we wouldn´t buy anymore anyway??

I appreciate your videos. This is overwhelming. I’m a Prepper and I’ve been gardening for a few years, but still, I think people really underestimate how much work it is to prep, to learn skills, to build networks. A support system is always best, but you can open yourself up to danger if you try to build a network with neighbors who don’t believe there is a need to prep. I’ve been gardening, but it takes years to learn how to care for a garden and build up enough yield to feed yourself. I think it would be safer for everyone if the government started encouraging the people to garden in their front lawns. Then you could naturally have prepping in common with your neighbors. But all anyone cares about is money and property values until it is too late. Instead of more stimulus checks, they could extend out mortgages to 40 yrs to lower everyone’s monthly payment and send everyone a pack of winter squash seeds to plant in their lawn. What people need most is a way to keep their homes and feed themselves. Things are getting very scary.

Hi babauna, there was a reply earlier about wound cleaning prior to stitching, and he is quite right. If you suture upa wound and it gets infected, you will have to release it to let the exudate (pus ect out) and be lucky if the infection doesn't kill you. normal cleaning prior to closure is recommended with sterile water (saline) and for the Greenhorn, steri strips or butterfly wound closures are safer on a CLEAN wound.
other than this normal sterile dressing and bandage are the best bet. Antibiotic availability depends on the situation, but there is also washing with antiseptic solution.
Then there is pain relief =stitching HURTS! So if you have lignocaine and know how and where to inject your in trouble.
Most of the instruments shown are used for stitching like haemostats straight and curved, various forceps for closure and sterile dressing handling ect.
Bottom line ..leave stitching to the professionals.

Assuming you are in a appartment, use a Rocket stove or bio gas to hide your flames and smoke. Use a pressure cooker for the beans, bring to pressure then wrap in towels and extinguish flames.
Go nowhere for the first 3 months. Defend, defend, defend!

A suggestion ... You might even want to try this for yourself and (maybe) demonstrate it. One of THE BEST ways of stopping out of control bleeding is with Cayenne Pepper. YES it stings like hell, but the bleeding will stop within just a few minutes, if not sooner. Just sprinkle the powder on the wound! Much better than trying to suture yourself (which will hurt without anesthetic) or trying to staple. If you use butterfly closures with the cayenne, you will hardly have a scar, too.
I hope that you will try this sometime. I always carry a pill bottle with ground cayenne in my first aid kit, just in case! I have friends who are metal workers and they use it too.

Means a huge scaling up in panels, batteries, controllers and inverters but beats a potential $500 gas bill each month for 6 months.

Maybe at least we could get a solar powered battery station for the window air conditioning unit.

Velcro Ace bandages (4-inch and 6-inch)
Kerlix rolled gauze (or Z-pak/compressed gauze)
    5 x 9 abdominal pads
    4 x 4 gauze sponges
1-inch rolls of medical tape (also ideal for stabilizing finger injuries)

The two key issues are lock-downs in production locations and energy security. We’ve built a very fragile, but efficient economy providing the most goods and services to the greatest number of people. The lock-downs and energy shortages have significantly reduced supply of basic goods and the ability to distribute what we do have. Both are a result of governmental policy decisions, not Mother Nature. Europe and India’s ties to Russian energy are inexcusable mistakes for anyone even remotely knowledgeable about Russia’s past 5 centuries of history. The fact that the current US administration celebrates their reduction of fossil fuel exploration and production in the face of inflation and shortages is nothing short of mind boggling. No natural gas, no fertilizer and no food. No affordable gas and diesel means distribution is hamstrung.
Similarly the extremely heavy reliance on China for many critical components has extensive impacts on production elsewhere in the world that slows or grinds to a halt for lack of key parts. The lock-downs in China will have a lasting impact for years, even if they stop tomorrow. The drive to the bottom in production costs has completely ignored production security. Sole source production of even the smallest insignificant component is a grievous error if the goal is economic security.

I'm certain that when you purchase canned food supplies, the exact date its supposed to expire, it will be fine. this is not to say store it for years and years past it date, but it's not going to be bad a few months after it's original expiration date. Canned foods are cooked and pasteurized. however, in America and other European nations, I'm going with this call Lilly is suggesting, it's time to prep. like she also states, be casual about it, I purchase canned foods and supplies gracefully, not making it appear a big deal. I learned from covid and the stores being empty shelves, to me that was a practice round. I learned a valuable lesson about obtaining and storing supplies. I'm sure there are people out there who have an entire warehouse of toilet paper and now can't sell it or use it. haha

@@zhunterd9589 most of that with canned foods is usually the sell before date for the stores. Dry foods perhaps different drill, stale pasta turns to starch, flour and corn meal gets worms over time unless sealed tightly. Canned foods can shelve for a long time. Instant foods add water, well, you have to find or bring the water....so there is no weight difference if backpack camping lol.
