ANNOUNCEMENT: COVID-19 IN AMERICAN SAMOA | February 22, 2022

We don't want to cause a panic or scare anyone, but we did want to make sure everyone is aware of this newest development. Last night, February 21, 2022, the American Samoan Government officially announced that we have several positive COVID-19 cases in our community of American Samoa.
The territory is on CODE RED ALERT for at least the next week and possibly more. You can find regular updates at www.americansamoa.gov/ and / americansamoadoh . Plus, we'll be sharing information on our social media platforms as well.
Please be patient with us as we figure out a new routine with everyone at home and while we wait to see what this will mean for us in the long-term.

Thank you for providing these updates in Am. Samoa. I'm a survivor of C19, I had a severe covid case in Dec 2020. I was bedridden for a month. I was missing out on Christmas and New Year's holiday celebrations. My advice is to always be active, make sure that you have a strong immune system.

Vitamin C helps, SARs Cov-2 I had even though I did all my vaccine shots I still got it. But after 48 hr I went into the hospital and understandable every one was scared including doctor. So common suggestion was allot of fluids but if they forget ask for antibodies I received Monoclonal and it really helped me and my wife. NyQuil honey Cold & Flu helped me with sore, pain and headache. Take care and be safe.

Interesting. You're lucky to live in a paradise where covid is virtually nihl. Not a big factor. I live in Houston and this place got hit hard for years. My neighbors have had covid. Been lucky though and been boosted up too. And its only been high in the mid 40s yesterday and today and a wet raw cold, with wind. Well cool video keep em coming and get boosted.

Looking for lemonade, this time of you all crowded together may be a good practice time for when you may be sailing for days and weeks at a time some day. Also, your anchorage seems like it may give you better isolation than many on the island. Just be as safe as you can. It’s will pass.

When are people going to learn? Nobody can stop it nor can we hide forever. The best way to defeat this virus is by strengthening the immune system and keep the respiratory system clear. Masks don’t stop the virus. Smh. Here in the States people are starting to realize that vaccinations and mask don’t help. The virus doesn’t have hours of rest so hurting businesses will not stop it either. Keep safe and healthy. Be blessed.

Here in Indiana it’s business as usual. No mask and everything is open. This last wave after Christmas had a few people sick. But it was never as bad as the news made it out to be. I had it early in 2020 and It was like a bad flu. My wife and son had it last fall, but I never got it a second time and we never distanced ourselves from each other. That being said my 96yr old grandma got it in the Nursing home and pasted away last year. I know it’s kinda scary, but don’t live in fear.
I’m half way through your book. I can’t wait till all this stuff is over and they open up the flights. My wife and I plan to visit. I sent you a email awhile back. My wife is a 26yr nurse with a public health degree. When our last son graduates high school in 2yrs we are going to look into getting a nursing contract for her. I’m retired and looking forward to fishing. We hope you keep up the videos during Covid. Stay safe…

@@AmSamFam your videos are very inspiring. I been to Hawaii years ago and loved it. I always wanted to live in the South Pacific but didn’t think I could afford Hawaii. But if my wife can get a Nursing contract we many be able to live in Samoa. I have a pretty decent income for retiring early. And I believe we could live very comfortable on just my income with not having to worry about health insurance. After her contact is up would we have to leave the island or can we just rent a place? Is there anyway someone can buy land or a home if we are not from there? I don’t mind renting if we can get a long term lease..

Covid 19 is a strange one, some people experience no symptoms, some, like my nephews only experienced a loss of taste for a few days, but there are those that it really attacks, and it ain't nothing nice. My boss had got it and given it to me. I can tell you this, I thought I was going to die, it attacked my blood pressure something serious, but I managed to pull through, my boss on the other hand, didn't fare so well, it killed him. (talk about survivors guilt...)So don't take it too lightly, even though it's not too bad for some, it can be way too much for others so be careful.
Two years of getting vaccinated and boosted is going to make a big difference in the toll covid-19 takes on Am. Samoa. I hope everyone stays safe and cooperates with best practices for health and survival. It seems to affect people so differently, both the harm from the disease and the mitigation measures themselves. Coping skills aren't exactly evenly distributed throughout humanity.

What just happened is because the Government employee allowed this individual to slide out of the quarantine process but straight to her home in Leone , Now the Government lock down the whole island because of their lack of responsibility of performing their duty protecting the people of American Samoa .

@@jeffmorse645 Absolutely! D3 is essential. Add K2 so you can safely take higher amount of D3. Remember that darker skin means lower D level. Add the zinc as mentioned. I hope what got through was omicron rather than delta! If you opt for vaccination, be sure to request they aspirate the needle to avoid the heart issues. Tune into Dr John Campbell from Britain. He watches the studies and puts out good information.

@@jeffmorse645 I hope so. I just don't know the timeline. It's fairly recently that omicron out-competed delta and I don't know how that compares with when people were allowed in.
I guess one of the things I'm saying regards the fear; if it's omicron, it's not pleasant, but it's not as scary as the first outbreaks of the original covid. My opinion, of course. Unpleasant all the way around.

So sorry the rest of the world failed Samoa in preventing international travel and quarantineing before travel and after arriving. My wife is a pharmacist her stepmother is a physician please mask up and take your vitamin D and get vaccinated!!
Get your 3 shots and take Vitamins C, D, Zinc, and obey the Covid guidelines and you should be ok. Don't panic or be discouraged. American Samoa will be fine and have faith.
