  • TO SHIP or NOT TO SHIP, that is the question when you're moving to AMERICAN SAMOA.

Moving can be stressful and chaotic, no matter how far you're going, but moving across oceans can be next level!
When moving to American Samoa, you're probably either going to sell all of your household items and need to buy replacements once you arrive or you'll need to arrange to ship it all. Or maybe even a combination of both.
Anyway you choose, this can seem overwhelming and confusing. Well, we've got you covered. For shipping, look into ICS, icargosupport.com/, and CSL, www.cslcargo.com/, for information, pricing, and customer service.
If you're planning on purchasing new household items, we've included the many furniture and appliance stores around Tutuila, the main island of American Samoa.
While we weren't able to actually answer the question for you (each situation is unique), hopefully we've been able to provide you with the information you need to make the choice that's right for you and make the process a little less intimidating and overwhelming.
For more information on shipping and packing, head over to AmSamFam.com for a detailed list of packing instructions provided to us by ICS. amsamfam.com/ship-to-american...
Let us know if you've used one of these shipping options and how it worked out for you.

We split the difference: Shipped our electronics and stuff that was personal/irreplaceable, and will pick up a few pieces of furniture locally later. Got through quarantine last week and are now living inside the covid bubble in Ofu.

GREAT video! This is the kind of thing I have been looking for. The trail and beach videos are fine, but I will only be hitting those now and then. First I have to find a place to live and a way to furnish it.

Very good insight and right on. Reminds me of Saipan and people shipping over containers. Some of the guys I worked with had their belongings shipped over to Guam on the company. Crazy shipping prices these days. Wow.
I remember Cost-u-less on Guam and Costco. Great place to shop on those islands. I remember in the late 1980s on Guam, or Saipan, those never existed. Even less on Saipan. By the 1990 s, I saw Ace, Kmart, Costco, Cost-u-less, it really brought the prices down on island. Saipan didn't have Cost-u-less, nor Kmart, but they had Ace and Price Costco in 1995. Those islands got a Hard Rock Cafe too and Guam had a Planet Hollywood. I wouldn't ship for 7k anything I would buy my things locally there unless your company you work for ships it over. When you sign a contract to work there include shipping cost in your contract negotiations.

nice video and I'm really enjoying your channel. if I may suggest one improvement: it's difficult to compare local costs of the appliances (large and small) if you don't slow the camera down enough to show the actual costs there.

We've been watching your videos and would really like to visit American Samoa. However, we are an older couple and disabled as well. We must use walkers to get around. We would also have to bring our medications with us. Does A.M. have adequate accommodations for disabled individuals such as ramps to enter buildings, handicapped rooms in hotels etc. Do they allow prescription medication (we do not use narcotic drugs.)

Are y'all still in Samoa? If so, can you post any real estate link for properties on island. I left in 1970 and am thinking of retiring but the family is too big for the family land remaining so I'd like to see what the real estate prices are like.

I got Questions for you. I am moving to American Samoa in December. Should I ship 6 box’s or should I buy them in Samoa? 3 box’s have Dog Toys & I have 1 box that has Electronic EQUIPMENT I paid a lot for it. Should I just ship 1 box & dump all the Dog Toys & Equipment? I live in Minnesota & my Dog comes 1st I’m bringing my King Sheperd in a large Skykennel Dog Crate. She will have to get her updated Shots next.

I got Prepscription for her plus Doctors letters for Her!! I got around 7 Carboard box’s full of Dog Toy’s & my items. Is the Post Office a good way of Shipping them?
