The name of the band is Rainbow and Rising is the name of album. Stargazer is the name of the song. This song is probably one of the most perfectly composed song ever written by five of the most talented musicians in rock history.
Oh it's true.
It's damn true. 😁
What Hugh said, x10.
yes sir
Light in the black 4 me.
The song is 8 minutes because that's how long it takes to be this epic.
You nailed it with your post, Sylvius!!!! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Songs under 4-5 Minutes are -usually- commercial crap.
8 minuts to explain what happend in 9 years of bulding the tower
Dio is Allah
@@revylokesh1783 Restraint is a virtue.
@@Dirkschneider And nonetheless also a curse. It is a complex thought with two different combative side and your argument is no more true than Revyl's.
Dio is one of the greatest metal singers of all time. Check out don't talk to strangers, neon knights, heaven and hell, rainbow in the dark, holy diver. All Dio is 🔥 no matter what band he was in.
Deal is one of the greatest singers of all time. Not just metal.
Dio is legit
@JD Hogg understatement of the year :D Cozy Powell was a one of a kind drummer, too.
Not mentioning "Black Sabbath - Children of The Sea
" and "Rainbow - Catch The Rainbow". ;)
It's funny listening to Dio's early material from the late 50's to mid 60's. It hard to believe that he went from one extreme to the other.
The song is about the stargazer, a wizard who enslaved a bunch of people to build a giant tower for him, so he could fly to the stars he’s been gazing at. The tower is finally done after 9 years, he throws himself off of this giant tower only to fall to his death. The slaves are now free.
VERY similar to the story of King Nimrod in the Bible, Genesis .. claimed himself as a God
Rainbow (band name) Rising (album title) Stargazer ( song)
we need more DIO ..just sayin
And the song is an allegory of people blindly following a false messiah, idol, politician, etc instead of thinking by themselves, just to discover they have been following a faker (the wizard falling instead of rising, as he promised) that is only interested in his personal benefit (only HE would rise to HIS star, not the enslaved followers that build him the tower).
and a light in the black comes after stargazer because if you listen to the lyrics it is definitely a continuation to the story
My child you’re listening to 3 legends in 1 song! Ronnie James Dio, Ritchie Blackmore and Cozy Powell.
yeah !! that's true !! An awesome record !
@@cedpurple9784 and jimmy bain
@@liys540 , of course !
Amen
You forgot to write "you're welcome" after all those legends. Lol.
In the name of all that is sacred & holy, never pause in the middle of a Richie Blackmore guitar solo!
You have 1000000% right!!!!
Ronnie James Dio was one hell of a singer🤘
Most excellent solo work (holy diver , stand up and shout & last in line )
Not to mention singing for Black Sabbath after ozzy
If you want to go back to the start though listen to “ man on the silver mountain “
Rock on 🤘
I was at work, trying out a new radio station, when "Man On The Silver Mountain" came on the radio. That's the only station we listened to from then on. I love independant stations. They even played Gwar late at night!
Don´t forgett "Children of the sea" and "Sacred heart"......
"Hopefully this song is good"..... I had to hold back a snicker.
One of the great vocal performances in rock history. Rest In Peace Ronnie James Dio.
and dont forget cozy
The group is Rainbow, shorted from the first album's name of Blackmore's Rainbow. Yes, it's THAT Blackmore, as in Ritchie Blackmore of Deep Purple fame. The name of the album is 'Rising' (1976). The name of the song is "Stargazer." Now you're caught up. The entire album is FIRE🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 I wore out this 8-track (yeah, I'm an ancient hippie chick) when we partied back in the 70s!! 😈😈
The vocalist is the incomparable Ronnie James Dio! THE best hard rock/metal singer EVER! RIP....
I don't know if JoJo know who Ritchie Blackmore is, I don't think he's reviewed Deep Purple yet and Deep Purple is before JoJo's time just like most of what he's reviewed. 😊
And the drummer is the great Cozy Powell, one of the best drummers in the history of rock, IMO. RIP...
Just "Rainbow".
"Rising" is the album name
The song is Stargazer.
"Rainbow: Gates of Babylon"
It has just about the same energy.
And it's just that amazing... like... 🥰
[Solo]
A classic Rainbow song. It's great to see JoJo getting into and appreciating rock when his chosen genre is Rap.
I like all these reaction channels, I like watching the slow conversion that most make from "I never really listened to this music" to full on head banging metalheads
You stumbled on an Epic Classic .... One of my favorite songs with some legends in Rock in this group - Ronnie James Dio, Ritchie Blackmore, Cozy Powell....all influencers in rock and metal music.
Can't Happen Here
Man On The Silver Mountain
Street Of Dreams
Since You've Been Gone
Stone Cold
Long Live Rock & Roll
Yes! Please Please Please!
Add a few more to the list:
Kill the King
Gates of Babylon
I Surrender
Difficult to Cure
Light in the Black (all the songs of the Rising album, in fact)
@@Lonestar1430 Yeah I was gonna say, you can't add another song from Rising and not just say the whole album. ALINTB, Stargazer, Starstruck, Tarot Woman, Run With The Wolf, Do You Close Your Eyes, all fantastic. To add to your wonderful list (Gates Of Babylon and Kill The King are simply fantastic) one must include Catch The Rainbow and Temple Of The King.
@@albinospino3089 You're right, I almost forgot about Catch the Rainbow, it's a great song! And Rainbow Eyes is very beautiful too.
Soon as I heard this I thought “sounds just like Dio!” Go figure!
😊
Lol
Check out "man on the silver mountain ". Dio was fantastic with Rainbow
Rainbow in the dark
Dio and wizards...who knew?
You just listen to an absolute Masterpiece of music.
This song is a masterpiece. Before computers and auto tune, and all the other modern "tricks". This is truly old school metal at its finest, when people really had talent!
"RAINBOW" IS THE BAND! "RISING" IS THE NAME OF THE ALBUM"STARGAZER" IS THE SONG!
AND THE GREAT "RONNIE JAMES DIO" IS ON VOCALS 🤘
Welcome to Ritchie Blackmore’s Rainbow. Ritchie Blackmore is the black sheep of the guitar heroes, he’s on of the best of all time but no one talks about him, he formed rainbow after leaving deep purple. Ronnie dio is one of the best singers ever, cozy Powell one of the best drummers, Roger glover (former deep purple member) one of the best bassists ever.
Look for man on the silver mountain, rainbow eyes, catch the rainbow, L A connection, self portrait, green sleeves, the temple of the king, etc. Ritchie Blackmore formed this band out of a band called Elf, where Ronnie Dio(who later would become Black Sabbath’s vocalist) was the vocalist.
Roger Glover, while being a great bass player, didn't play on this album. Jimmy Bain was the bass player for this album and the following world tour. Seeing Rainbow on stage was fantastic!
Thank you for the recommendations ;)
Epic, no other words needed.. welcome to my childhood
Rainbow - Gates of Babylon is an amazing song you gotta check out
🤘
@@mk1198 Ronnie James Dio is a God vocalist unbelievable Talent never will there ever be another Talent like that on this Earth
@@jamescain8313 Jorn Lande comes pretty damn close.
the way he described the song at the end was a perfect description
He can sing powerful vocals. ☑ Last in Line, Holy Diver
Ronnie James Dio rest in peace you legend!
Same for Cozy Powell, another legend
And bassist Jimmy Bain
One of my favorites all time and I'm old.
omg thank you so much for doing my suggestion (i recommend “since you’ve been gone” and “man on the silver mountain” )
Man on the silver mountain live, from Rainbow on stage :)
Ronnie James Dio... Best metal singer... EVER!
The lineup of this track is 5 of the most talented musicians we've seen as a species.
No weak links in this band, or on this album.
Very true. Although, how did they ever cope with Blackmore and his 'moods' ?😳🤔
Cozy on kill the king
That drummer is COZY POWELL... one of the greatest drummers in rock history.... maybe not as well known ... but just as good.... has been in many bands and played session drums for hundreds of groups.... was the drummer for RAINBOW 🌈 1975-80..., before going to Black Sabbath and reconnecting with Dio....Dig
He also played for Whitesnake and Michael Schenker Group.
This song is epic and Dio's vocals are 🔥🔥
Yes my favorite band
Another great one that I got to see in concert. Incredible vocalist and a killer laser show.
That album is one of the historical milestones in hard rock. Their 3 first albums with Ronnie James Dio, (DIO), on vocals is outstanding.
Can't wait for you to get around to Deep Purple. The guitarist, Ritchie Blackmore, from this band was in Deep Purple before he was in Rainbow.
He's quite good apparently.
Love deep purple.
Can't wait for more Rainbow, "Man on the Silver Mountain" and "Death Alley Driver"🔥🔥
You just heard Ronnie James Dio, he was a man of many talents and many bands he played in. The Bands name is Rainbow, the Album is named Rising, the song is Stargazer. Good pick, I recommend more of his Work as Dio, Black Sabbath and Rainbow.
🔥Well, NOW WE'RE TALKIN' ! 🔥
It was cool the way you got more and more into it as it went along! One of the greatest rock songs of all time.
The start of Rock Opera,... you need some Deep Purple to bring you up to speed.... then some Uriah Heep
The group is just called Rainbow.
Dio is one of the best vocalist to ever get up on stage. 🤘 RIP Ronnie James Dio.
"HEAVEN AND HELL" LIVE and please do it LIVE! RAINBOW! "Ronnie James Dio"! GOAT RIP
This was Ronnie James Dio as Rainbows Front man. He writes some awesome lyrics. Dubbed the little man with a big voice. He was also the replacement for OZZY in Black Sabbath, was in elf before rainbow and had his solo band DIO. One of the best rock voices of all time. OH! He started in a do-whop band in the late 50’s early 60’s called Ronnie James and the Prophets.
You picked a hell of a song to begin with. Good on ya and keep on digging my dude, you've stumbled into a proverbial diamond mine.
This album has been in my top five albums of all time since the day it was released
The look of awe....says It all.
Killer reaction. The look on your face as the guitar solo burrowed into your brain is just priceless. It was a joy watching you hear what a Rainbow sounds like.
Try out heaven and hell please by Black Sabbath. Same singer Dio from Rainbow❤️
I'm so glad you listened to my suggestion and the way you described the mythical people required to write this song was awesome. 👍
Bro, read the lyrics! It is medieval! It is about a powerful wizard who enslaved and slaughtered a village to build a tower for himself and ended getting himself killed. It is fucking amazing!
This song is writte and performed by, at least, 2 rock legends of all time: Ritchie Blackmore (guitar) and Ronni James Dio(vocals) 🤟
Rainbow is the name of the band and Rising is the name of the album, Stargazer is the song (one of the best songs ever written)
From the first Rainbow in Time- was The Music. The band's name was Rainbow; the album, was entitled with the name- 'The Rising.'
Black sabbath NIB, into the void, heaven and hell etc. So many great songs!
Mission : Blow mind
Mission Report : Total success
You are listening to 3 of the greatest and one of the greatest rock songs of all times. This is when music was at it greatest and the record labels let the creative side shine. Yes it is intense and it makes you feel like you just cant contain your emotions. RIP Dio.
Epic song. Rainbow is the band. The album is Rising. Song is Stargazer. The story cautions about following some leaders crazy visions. The vocalist was Ronnie James Dio, who later sang for Black Sabbath (following Ozzy's departure), and his own solo work. This was intense rock for the mid-70's.
Love your analogies/comparisons!💕 So funny 🤣
its that long because its EPIC. You can't contain such epicness in just 3 minutes
The band was named Rainbow after a bar in Hollywood where the guitarist Ritchie Blackmore and singer Ronnie Dio liked to drink. The band started as just a solo project by Blackmore, but he soon decided to quit Deep Purple and make Rainbow his main project. It lasted from 1975 to early 1984, when Deep Purple got back together.
Hahaha, your facial expression during the solo is 100% on point. Love it.
Some would say this is a collection of the best Musicians combined with one of the greatest vocalist ever!
Funny to see you reacting to the best singer (next to Freddie Mercury) of all time, Ronnie James Dio. You have also dicovered Ritchie Blackmore, one of the best guitar players of all time 😁. And btw "Stargazer" is the hymn of Metal next to "Bohemian Rhapsody" 😉.
I like your style mate . I can't get my teen friends to understand and appreciate this genius stuff like you do. Best from New Zealand
Rainbow is what you would now call a Super Group. When two bands merge into one or two god like musicians come together to make pure magic. That's what happened here. Ronnie James Dio on vocals and Richie Blackmore from Deep Purple coming together to create a (then) whole new genre of music: Power/Fantasy Metal! This started it and was followed by bands like Iron Maiden, Helloween, Manowar, Rhapsody and Dragonforce among a looooong list of others.
I wouldn't call Rainbow a super group. A super group usually refers to all the band members being in famous bands previously. This wasn't technically the case here. When he left Deep Purple, Blackmore basically hired the entire line-up of Elf to form Rainbow, but Elf was an obscure band that nobody knew. Blackmore was only really interested in Dio though, and by the time of the second album (this one, "Rising"), everyone else had been dumped.
Great reaction.
Cozy on drums, 🥁
Dio ❤️
Blackmore from Deep Purple is a great songwriter.
The singer is Ronnie James Dio , the man who invented the metal hand gesture .... he's a legend ... sadly passed , often enjoyed in music , and never , ever forgotten . RIP RONNIE 🤘🤘🤘
The drummer is the Great Cozy Powell, my all-time drummer after John Bonham.
I dig that description at the end!!! Couldn't put it better myself! he replaced Ozzy in Sabbath for a couple albums, Heaven and Hell is the song you should check out!
1976 it was released..... in the good old days of rock. Best rock singer ever. Ronnie James Dio (RIP) went on to replace Ozzy in Black Sabbath
Rainbow my favorite band, the musicianship was = to classical music, One of my mentors as a Lead Vocalist R.I.P. Ronnie James Dio
Best analogy ever!! You hit the dragon on the head lmao. Ima subscribe just because the way you heard this song was so excellent. 100 agree, it does sound like the king of England and his posse of gods, Vikings and Ronnie James Dio are off to fight dragons. You made me laugh out after a really crap day, so thank you for that. Subscribed.✌🦄⚔🐲
Great Reaction JoJo !! Love it !!
Awesome bro!
Does anyone else but me notice how often we add RIP to our posts. It's a shame so many great musicians have passed.
disliked only because you are right and now I'm sad
@@collinnicholasns sorry I didn't mean to make you sad. I hope you have a great day!
It's ok I'll do as I always do, face the world like Dio did with love, kindness and metal.
You are listening to the equivalent of rock royalty. Richie Blackmore shredding on guitar, Cozy Powell killing those drums, and Ronnie James Dio blasting those vocals.
Stargazer is the song. Rainbow is the band. Rising is the album ☺
Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow featuring Ronnie James Dio on vocals. Dio also sang for Black Sabbath. Check out Heaven & Hell
React to Black sabbath - Heaven and hell
Saudações do Brazil!!
Concordo contigo.
You are listening to a british/american superband with legends. The rock opera of the rock operas. About a slave in ancient Egypt that tells the story about this dark wizard who commited hybris, enslaving people so they built him a tower to fly. And then his downfall comes and he dies as deserved. Dio, Richie Blackmore, Cozy Powell on drums, Jimmy Bain, Tony Carey and the Munich Philarmonic Orchestra is a legendary moment in history of rock music. "Im going home, my eyes are bleeding...."
Stargazer is the song
Rainbow is the name of the band
Dio is the vocalist. He has a huge catalog of music
RIGHTEOUS BROTHERS - "ROCK AND ROLL HEAVEN" - see their progression into the 70's with this tribute to artists that died
BTW, this is a song about a wizard that basically, through charismatic demeanor, enslaves his believers to build a tower for him to fly off and presumably to his planet/star and that he will take them with him. Many "believers" die for the building of this tower. However, once the tower is built , he falls. And the person telling the story dies as well and goes "home".
Rainbow is the name of the band. "Stargazer" is the name of the song, and "Rainbow Rising" is the album name. Ronnie James Dio is the lead vocalist, whom you MAY have reacted to already with either his solo stuff or when he was singing for Black Sabbath. Oh, and let's not sleep on Richie Blackmore, the guitar player, also of Deep Purple ("Smoke on the Water") fame.
Rainbow is so damn goooooood!
Its a beautiful passion, right. Ride that wave!!! Love And Blessings From Manchester England 🌬🌀🌼
Best part of '70's hard rock..is the music! Lyrics are secondary...mostly fantasy stuff.
But after listening to the music first...lyrics are amazing...one can inject your own thoughts and feelings to make this your own.
IMO. Dio Rocks!
Welcome to the Dioverse, young man.
Deep Purple - Child in time
Just like Pops.... let's Go!!
This, you will not regret it, its an epic song.
I was wondering why I liked this song after first hearing it, then I realized it's very similar to how Led Zeppelin songs are. The drumming, constant musical switch-ups, the Middle Eastern vibe, and the long outro.
I recognized some of those Cozy Powell fills from Robert Plant's "Slow Dancer".
I was sitting here thinkin about what I was listening to at your age and this popped into my head, I really think you'll like it.
Jane's Addiction - Ocean Size
The band name was inspired by the Rainbow Bar and Grill in West Hollywood
What you just heard was one of the greatest rock bands to ever walk the face of the earth! That album is beyond words! You've got to listen to the whole thing.....it tells a story about a guy getting seduced into a cult, but at the end the leader of the cult dies and the followers are just left to themselves wondering what to do.
this was during the Ronnie James Dio era of Rainbow. The guitarist is Richie Blackmore. It doesent get more British metal than this. There is a lot of Dio for you to discover. Have fun. Check out Dio's Holy Diver!!
Dio is one of the best singers in history and he was one of the fathers of rock. It's because of him that devil horn's exist \m/
If you want to really listen to more of him the listen Holy diver, The last in line or Heaven and hell.
You mean one of the fathers of metal I presume
@@reality1958 I mean THE father of fathers, greater than other fathers like Jimmy Hendrix and Lemmy Kilmister and many more.
@@eduardopatraca3272 well, I don't know what you mean by father. There were many, many before Dio. From the 50s and 60s there were many.
Dio was good. I feel many are better, including Hendrix, but that's why we all have opinions. Be safe
@@reality1958 Well, RJD started in 1958 singing doo wop and crooner-type songs before rock, hard rock and metal sings.
This is the fine wine of rock. It is Best quality rock music
Jojo, this is the band Rainbow, Rising is just the title of the album. It's basically the creation of guitarist Ritchie Blackmore who had just left the band Deep Purple. There have been multiple versions of the band starting with this line-up with Ronnie James Dio (of Black Sabbath and his own highly successful solo band just named Dio) on vocals. Both Dio and Blackmore had fascinations with Rainbows which made sense considering a rainbow usually rises after the storm. For Dio, this band was his industry breakout while for Blackmore it was his first move from being a band member to being a band owner. They both had their own personal storms they weathered so the name pretty much made sense. As a matter of fact, they used to use clips of Dorothy from Wizard of Oz to open their concerts with about not being in Kansas any more and how they must be over the rainbow.
Ah ha! This was in our family duel over on the Discord!!!!
Please, please, please Cult Of Personality by Living Colour! You need to hear this!
Yes we need to keep insisting definetly. I think he will get a culture shock. Ive been requesting this often too
