I lost power TWICE during this livestream due to a spring SNOW STORM! HOWEVER, YOUR comments, reactions and questions in real time, in addition to those from Voice Lovers ALL OVER THE WORLD, made this a rich (and hilarious!) time of sharing our love of great music and master vocalists. For Iron Maiden I would start with the offical video Hollow Be Thy Name. For story telling Dance of Death En Vivo. And Rime of the Ancient Marianor flight 666. All of these are live. Iron Maiden has been around since 1975. They just released and are touring for their 41st album. They have sold over 250 million albums. The guitarist all play lead, do a solo in each song, otherwise play in harmony. They have their own 747 that Bruce pilots.

Whether it's with Rainbow, Black Sabbath, or his own band DIO, Ronnie James Dio never disappoints. "Heaven and Hell" by Black Sabbath is a perfect song to follow this up with.. as it was Dio's next evolution... when he replaced Ozzy Osbourne in Sabbath.. and the band had to change to accommodate that huge voice. Theres a live version from around 1980 that's absolutely mindblowing and it'll give you an idea of what a great stage presence Ronnie had.

@Erik Lidström Bullshit. The album versions are always the best ones. Live versions are different and sometimes great too. In this case an elementary guitar part (starting at 3:32) on the album version is entirely missing on that live version. I can't stand this idiot statement that pops up from people when ot come sot.this song, putting that album on a pedestal with a pseudoreligious fervour... As if they were followers of some cult. I find it embarrassing.
Gillan had a great voice back then but sadly he ruined it quickly. A few years later he had surgery and his range was cut back. Since then (the eighties) he squeaks when trying to hit those original high notes.
Listen to your live album, but don't claim it was better than the original, because it most definitely isn't.

RAINBOW is my most beloved and favourite heavy metal band of all times (obviously only with Ronnie James Dio on vocals), after he left the band, RAINBOW took a different direction, and all the magic, dragons, dungeons and wizards were gone; the epic-mesmerizing and enchanting lyrics that Ronnie James Dio wrote in conjunction with Cozy Powell disappeared and RAINBOW became just another mellow rock band that got commercial suscess but the captivating and sublime essence of the band were gone with Ronnie's departure ............... if you try "STARGAZER" live in COLOGNE you can hear the real power of RONNIE JAMES DIO's voice of thunder, rumbling on stage along with the explosive display of drumming from COZY POWEL and the heavy fairing riffing from RITCHIE BLACKMORE's guitar. ................ that is the best version of this poetic and epic heavy metal song in my opinion.

It is actually not a live video, but a performance video "married" to the original studio recording. This was several years after the release of Lloyd-Webber Jesus Christ Superstar. This is not a rock opera, it does tell a story like many RJD songs, and this is nearly a decade after the first Rock Operas. Also, Ian Gillan recorded the studio album of JCS as Jesus, it went platinum years before the movie and even the stage show. This recording remains unrivaled, you should consider reacting to Gillan’s “Gethsemane” from this landmark recording.

Thanks for your thoughts on RONNIE JAMES DIO!!! if you have an opportunity in the future, would you give a reaction and your thoughts on a talented young lady by the name of MELODY CRISTEA OF THE BAND LILIAC? Another great, the Ian Gillan was the original Jesus on the Jesus Christ Superstar on album. Unfortunately, due to his busy schedule with Deep Purple, he couldn't perform in the movie, and on Brodway.

I don't know if has been stated before but there is a part 2 to this song. It is called A Light in the Black. And as far as Rainbow went Dio's band Elf opened for Deep Purple and Ritchie was not happy with Deep Purple anymore so he decided to start his own band. At the end of the tour he left Deep Purple to form Rainbow. The original lineup was basically Elf with Ritchie on guitar. This only lasted for the recording of the first album. After the album recording Ritchie fired all of the remaining members of Elf except Ronnie.

another great metal singer to check out is Rob Halford of Judas Priest, amazing vocalist with a career spanning over 50 years, and still counting he actually filled in for Dio with Black Sabbath a couple times. victim of changes, beyond the realms of death, and dreamer deciever are great early tracks but there are so many great songs from 50 years to pick from.

Ian Gillan of Deep Purple was THE original Jesus. He got the role because of his vocal performance on the song Child in Time. Listen to the studio version off the In Rock album to hear a controlled version. I would say that is the best vocal performance of all time. It’s hit and miss with him bc he had many vocal problems after that.

Great reaction. I caught up with it later. My recommendation as a starting point for Bruce Dickinson and Iron Maiden (and there are many) is this performance when they toured their first album with Bruce (they recorded 2 with previous vocalist, Paul Di'Anno): czcams.com/video/7vP2hFFV57E/video.html

Hi, Love Rainbow and Deep Purple. Can I urge you strongly to react to John Farnham - do any of his songs from his live concert with the MSO (Melbourne Symphony Orchestra) - you will be amazed by his incredible performances and voice. Trust me you won't regret it. Cheers
