Best band ...best song ...best singer ...best guitarist...best Drummer ... . EVER 🌈💪🥁🎸🎤💜⚘🙏🏼
Can you imagine seeing this live in concert .... I did and it was soul changing. It's not just the technical playing and vocals which are amazing as always with Dio and Blackmore but it's the experience of being there and seeing and hearing it live. Those days are long gone now but never forgotten... we can hope anyways.
I think the point of all this is actually that brilliant, ripping, ascending solo provided masterfully by Mr. Ritchie Blackmore ( !!! ) !!!
One of the best songs of all time.IMO Dio's best work was in Rainbow. That's probably because that's where I heard him first. Suggested songs
Man On the Silver Mountain
Catch the Rainbow
16th century Greensleeves
Temple of the King
Tarot Woman
Run With the Wolf
Lady Starstruck
Do you Close Your Eyes
A Light n the Black
Long Live Rock & Roll
Lady of the Lake
Gates of Babylon
Kill the KIng
Live version of Still I'm Sad (76 or 77)
Get the On Stage and Rising albums
Compilation video. Awesome song. Dio had the best voice. When Ritchie Blackmore left Deep Purple, he formed Rainbow. He already had seen Dio performing at a night club and wanted him as the lead singer of the band.
You just reacted to one of the most epic songs recorded...one of my favorites. Dio, Blackmore, and Powell are at their best during this time period. Rainbow has a ton of other great songs ... check them out more.
There are a bunch of videos from the live 1977 Munich concert that are fantastic..."16th Century Greensleeves, Mistreated, Catch the Rainbow, Kill the King, Man on the Silver Mountain, Long Live Rock and Roll, Do you close your eyes, Still I'm Sad" are great performances .... vocally Mistreated I rate as one of the best of all time.
Alrighty I will!
An absolutely amazing Blackmore composition … the majesty of the music composed by Blackmore and Dio delivers on vocals
Composed by Blackmore AND Dio.
Best song ever!!
There are so many. I'm just going to suggest a few. Gates of Babylon by Rainbow. That song will take you on a journey with terrific vocals by Dio. Mistreated by Rainbow. Possibly Dio's greatest vocal performance ever. Rainbow in the Dark by Dio. One of his if not his most popular from his own band off of the Holy Diver album. Finally, Invisible which is also off of the Holy Diver album. It has very melodic lyrics with a crunching guitar riff. It's about suicide. He sings about depression and gender issues and how it can lead to suicide. The song was way ahead of it's time. People weren't making songs like this back then.
This is the studio version, set to a montage of live clips
That's the incomparable and sadly missed Cozy Powell. Loved Rainbow so much. Great vocals from Ronnie, Graham Bonnet and Joe Lynn Turner and of course Richie's guitar
Dio started his pro career with Elf before Ritchie signed him to Rainbow. Elf had a pretty good track with Carolina Country Ball although the rest were pretty forgettable.
Someone once said "do you know when you have dio up high enough? When the neighbors can hear it and you're listening on headphones"
Best thing to do PERIOD.... Just buy Live Concert on Dvd. Munich 1977. RAINBOW.........
A Masterpiece.
100%
Just discovered your channel and love it. You should check out "Mistreated" by Rainbow, live in Munich....that tune really showcases Ronnie's range as well as that of the entire band. Thanks for the video.
DIO ... we will remember your divine voice.
Said about this song: It's like a whole musical, in one song only. It's like nothing else out there. To witness Blackmore, Dio and Powell together, doing this song! Amazing! Most first-time listeners, are actually shocked. The intensity in the relations between the guitar and the voice - the voice and the drums - and the drums and the guitar, is beyond this World. And then - there's the live version! Munich, 1976! 🤘
My favorite Dio song is Temple of the King.
Another great video to react to is “Child In Time Live In 1970” by Deep Purple. Ritchie Blackmore’s fiery guitar work and Ian Gillian’s extreme vocal range are really at their limit on this song. It’s a miracle that Ian never did permanent damage to his vocal chords singing this song. Also, if you’ve never heard the entire classic Deep Purple live album “Made In Japan” you’ll love it. It’s usually considered to be their best album, as well as one of the greatest live albums ever.
Gotcha! I’m excited!
Wait for the ricochet... 😭
The irony is that Gillan damaged his vocal cords doing Zero the Hero live while he was in Black Sabbath. Dio certainly had a better first run.
Studio then was not like it is today. Not digital. No auto tune. I like the music video to this. Dio is a legend. Legends have no peers. No one tops them. You can have a great voice....but to stand out on such a quality... unique and skilled level is rare.
This is one the songs where you should have a pamphlet you read before listening.
This is pretty much opera.
Yeah. Rainbow was the guitarist Ritchie Blackmore's band not Dios
so seventies ho i see i was there lol
welcome to the greatest rock metal voice there ever will be Ronnie James Dio 1977
😎👍😉🤟🎼☠🖤🍻 Smile. \m/ ' [-_-] ' \m/....Bye... Bottoms up and cheers...Stay loud, stay proud, stay heavy. Take care, and be safe ....... #Adanporsiempre ........
If you wanna hear Dio before he sang metal, Love Potion No. 9 with his band The Prophets is the song for you. 😃

Dont EVER mention Kurt Cobain in the same sentence when describing RJD!!!
So all the bands you mention are posers of this band. Rage Nirvana are decades after. And Dio no matter what he claimed owes his success to Blackmore giving him a chance
No question, but it's not just about Dio and/or Blackmore. This lineup was incredible, once in a lifetime when their music was perfectly in sync. Rainbow rising/ long live rock and roll with Powell, Bain, Carey.
THE BOSS R. J . DIO
