I love watching this build. I was with the LA County Sheriff’s Department in 1978-82 as a young deputy Explorer scout. I loved riding along on patrol in the Novas. I remember like yesterday riding around in some units that were brand new. We got into numerous pursuits I still remember how fast they were and how great they handled. The deputy I always rode with would often drive it up to 120 MPH on the freeway. Times were much different then. And we rarely wore seatbelts. I remember sliding around on the front vinyl bench seat. We really beat those Novas up, but they were tanks. BTW, you asked what the rear amber light was for on the light bar, basically served as a warning traffic signal for cars approaching from the rear, but we called them the “excuse me” light for cars that we flew by on the way to a hot call. I can’t wait to see the final result! Thanks Brian!
Alex, so glad you’re enjoying the build! Thank you for your service as well! Really appreciate the info! Love hearing stories from back in the day! Stay tuned,a lot more to come!
LOL Brian!! Well Done!! It looks like you need new Everything!! And does Wifey know you tore this down in the Dining Room?? recognized those windows in the background....🤣😂😜
i'm not happy with my .273 open diff and have been and have been looking into the same thing you are doing.. either switching out the parts or finding a replacement. really looking forward to the next video..
Wow, that carrier pin bolt was only holding on by 2 threads where it broke. Unlucky but lucky. A left hand drill bit would have backed it out without having to use the extractor. I would have been tempted to drill it a little farther than you did, but would it bore into the hole that the unthreaded end of the pin fits into?

I don't envy you on the teardown and rebuild on that lol. Great vid.
Another excellent breakdown done by Brian. He makes it look easy and we know its not. He really knows his stuff.
Thank you!

All new parts ordered yesterday! Doing a full rebuild. Soon as I clean up the old housing.😩
Best feeling in the world, the end of a bolt on the end of an extractor. Makes you roar and beat your chest like King Kong.
Couldn’t agree more!!!😂

Agreed. I just didn’t have a left handed but that small. Definitely lucked out! Could’ve been way worse! Thanks for watching!
It's always a pleasure watching you vids.
