This video is spot on. When I started making SF5 videos 4 years ago, I was really disappointed with the amount of FGC content that is easy to understand for people who hadn't been playing FGs for a long time. So I made that my niche, and I think it made a big difference.
Damn, day one Sajam was a noob, listen to him smacking his lips. That's actually a really good motivation. It's easy to get demotivated thinking "I'll never be on that guy's level", but when you see Sajam starting from rock bottom and sticking to it until he got to where he is now, that's encouraging
I didn't even have much to look at for inspiration when I started. I think for that reason these days it's easier to look around and find out what you like/dislike to create.
I think Bafeal has some of the best tutorial videos around. His are short sweet and his at a glance series is some of the most re-watchable videos out there.
We started an "Excellent Adventures" inspired show for Tekken earlier in 2019 because of a video you made a while back about how the FGC needs some more content. Now we got a nice little community started, and we're hoping to grow the channel over the span of 2020! Thanks for the motivation!
You're a day late for monday motivation but this actually hit at the perfect time as I'm currently writing my first couple videos (I know I have content on my channel already but it's trash an personally I just want to do more written content) So yeah, I'll be posting basic character and match up breakdowns for Granblue Fantasy Versus even before the game comes out next month! But also some in depth discussions and dissections of other games I love (Bloodborne, RE2, ect...) Catch y'all soon hype beasts and pot monsters, and remember to stay different!
Man. I've been watching your stuff for quite some time and you can't even imagine how inspiring this is. Although I am generally in quite different area of expertise (software development) and been playing fighting games in my free time, I feel that things you say are so universal and can be applied pretty much everywhere. Thank you so much mate, cheers!
Man perfect timing for sure, I started to get into streaming for fun, but with the goal to get affiliate. It's always nice to see how your favorite creators started out
Well, I recorded my lip smack, and then didn't edit it out of a video with all the time in the world. The last video was at least cut from something live LOL
A year late, but i remember when ur name was superman sajam haha u taught me how to do vergil sword loops! I remember u were the only one who taught me u gotta step back a bit when u activate swords at certain distances in the combo before you throw the round trip. Still love ur videos bro!
One of the best ways to improve is by looking back at what you've done and identifying what things you would change. You can't do that if you never start. also dam im hype for the Sajam sitcom
I make fgc youtube content and I try sharing it on other mediums but I don't know how to get the word out. I know on lots of discords and forums that self promotion is not allowed. How am I supposed to get the word out and reach out to these people?
I'm French and there really aren't a lot of tutorials or content in our region (the stuff we got is really cringe). So I might try out. I don't even want to be big I just want to help.
You talk a lot in this video about the video creation itself, but what I think is more important is getting feedback. In 2020 there aren't so many fgc news websites we can share on content on anymore. Where on earth do we go after publishing the video? How do people find us?
Platforms have changed, but the idea hasn't. The FGC is larger than when those websites existed. Twitter/Reddit/Discord/Eventhubs/Etc, are all suitable places.
Anyone watching this who is consdering making some tutorial content please make a video explaining the "jargon" of fighting games Oki, plus frames etc. It would be a great resource to send to people.
"I'm ten seconds in and I haven't even gotten to the fucking point" I wish all streamers looked at their content like this. I frequently skip 3 minutes into talking head videos (by people who have been doing this for years!) and they'll still be rambling about nothing. it'll be a setup that takes like half a minute to explain and demonstrate and yet they turn it into 15 minutes of algorithm bait

Oh boy, here comes the motivation

"Lip smack in the first 3 seconds" Previous video starts it off with a lip smack lol

guilty pleasure of mine is checking the oldest vids of my favorite ytbers to see where they started. it's pretty inspiring.

The obvious take away is that everyone starts with MvC3 so that is were you start no matter the year.
Shoutouts to Majas delivering A+ content to us.
You hit MLM? Wolverine with that men loving men tech
Alternatively: Wolverine gives up his life as being a part of the X-Men to be a part of the evil life of Multi Level Marketing schemes.
I agree with this 100 % most content especially fgc is really low effort, I have something in the pipeline that will hopefully change that.
Being shitty at something is the first step to being good at that something. Doesn't matter what it is, you have to get started.

That first video definitely like me trying to make content.

Watch "why button mashing doesnt work" by them
Makes long, convoluted vids critiquing your old vids for being long and convoluted. I dig it.

His most important video has one of the least amount of views.
