The way those vegans were described just made me think of some of the people in the LGBTQ community with the whole "you're not gay enough" and the bullying towards bi people. Of course those are a minority from what I've seen, but it's still so sad
Sometimes it feels like every time discourse quiets down around one identity, the Complaining Complainers just ramp up against a different one u_u Whether it's bi, pan, ace, aro, trans, nb, you name it.
Like i thought the whole point was that we're in this together to create a welcoming community for those who don't fit outside it
I feel like those comments come from people who make being lgbt their whole personality and don't actually try to engage in being a solution to the mistreatment our community faces. Like instead of using the straight-passing bi ppl to our their advantage, they treat us like invaders
often times, ive seen exclusionist be little kids and i feel very sad for them. a lot of queer kids become exclusionists or be hyperfocused on what makes them "queer" enough to overcompensate for a lack of support or a lack of not knowing who they are truly. identity politics will always push us backwards and i hope those kids and people grow out of that phase and learn the real meaning of community.
You can't base your perception of an entire movement on those experiences, just like most vegans I've met aren't gatekeeping psychos. Some people just treat everything like a pissing contest but you can't let those ppl delegitimise a whole movement

I was so baffled when I first learned what TLC meant 😂. I used to think it stood for tender loving care. When looking at tlc's content, I'd go "odd interpretation of that phrase but okay"

"there's no way he maintains this off camera". Uhh... You might want to talk to Oompaville. Nick stayed at his Oompa's place for an entire week I think and Oompa said he never turned it off. I don't know, he may have acted his way into a new personality.
Of course he wouldn't have turned it off while at Oompas, surrounded by people he didn't know. He had to entertain them all, knowing full well someone would say something if he stopped. He's not going to let anyone else but himself out him. In the privacy of his own home, he definitely turns off the character.
Oompa did see the mask fall on some occasions, and I think he even caught it on camera a few times.

AS A VEGAN
I 100% aagree with the "every little effort to do something that's good for the world should be supported."
I know there are different reasons to be vegan but why would you be so hyper critical of someone who is doing something that helps animals and the world?
I've never understood that.
It’s because a very vocal contingent of vegans preach at people like a fundamentalist Christian. Being vegan is good, I suppose, but I don’t want to be told that I’m the worst human ever because I don’t choose to be vegan.

@@writerchik44 Yes, the ability *to choose a specific diet* and all that entails is a luxury. It's a luxury to have access to all that in a way that's reliable, of good quality, in a quantity that'll offer proper nutrition and be affordable. Not to mention any medical conditions or other dietary or lifestyle restrictions that might make it even more complicated or difficult.
Veganism benefiting the word is also very difficult to confirm. Lots of vegan products are heavily processed and the amount of increasing farm land required to produce the food destroys forests. There's also the diet issues and a bunch of other stuff it negatively effects that people tend to just ignore. Do you but veganism benefiting the world or animals anymore than anything else is kinda iffy at this point.
I don't mind normal vegans either but like limarba9062 said there's just this hardcore set of vegans that need to disappear. They bring nothing but negativity to the table and hinder any actual benefits veganism could provide.
@@Bannith Nothing is more destructive than animal products. Processed or not, they destroy the world much more than plant based foods do. The animals need to get fed which already destroys a lot of land due to the sheer amount that you need. You are also not required to eat replacement products on a plant based diet either. You can eat whole foods and make delicious dishes out of fresh veggies from your local farms. Either you love animals and try to cause as little harm as possible to these innocent beings. Or you are selfish and do the opposite because you could not care less about anyone else's life but your own.

The talk about veganism and the community feels so real. There's a huge difference in the community especially with dietary vegans and lifestyle vegans. Personally I had to go vegan due to too many allergies towards animal products. My family and I have continuously been bashed by both lifestyle vegans and omnivores. I don't care about other people's diets, and I have cookouts with family who grill juicy delicious looking steaks all the time. I've had strangers who hear about me being vegan try to shove animal products into my system. I've went to restaurants who ignore my dietary needs, giving something I've actively said I can't have, I've had grocery shoppers steal hundreds of dollars from us... However the lifestyle vegans can be just as mean. I've been told to hurt myself because I'm selfishly vegan and not in it for the animals. If any dietary vegan accepts honey, lifestyle vegans attack them. My mother is an artist and she made graphic designs for clothes that are based off of vegan things, but even vegans attack her. It's all in all a toxic community and it sucks. I wished people could see that not all of us are shoving our diets down their throats. We watch your Arby's ads all the time, my one post about a meal I was proud of making is not going to hurt anyone. It sucks and I hate mentioning that I'm part of that community, but I can't exactly leave it. (Allergic to dairy and hormones in meat. I get sick with eggs and fish) I used to be a huge shrimp and steak fan (besides my stomach being in absolute misery afterwards)

Honestly, I'd probably watch whatever you guys put out. I like the vibes. Dane reminds me of my old best friend a little bit. She died last year, and I miss her a lot. She was quick to laugh and down to earth, just like him. You guys put out content regularly, the edits are good, you make me laugh. It's just a good channel. I like Mary, too. Just seem like a very decent group of people.

One thing that mary forgot to mention was the reason why Nick quit veganism was because he suffered several health issues for that, and also his mental health, which was bad when he was a child.
I was looking for someone to mention this! It's been a while since my last Nikocado deep dive but iirc he was anemic, losing clumps of hair, experiencing constant fatigue and brain fog, and said he even started losing teeth. Seemed like the effects of long-term (mild) malnutrition. The negativity of the community played a role for sure, but he always put more emphasis on the health issues as the reason he left veganism.

How could anybody see 2 grown men "fighting" with noodles while shouting "Jeepers creepers" at each other, and conclude it's stemming from real "marital issues".... I feel like so much went right over Mary's head. Or she's just echoing the takes of everyone else who's told this same story over and over.

I started watching ken and dane right after the lock down was lifted and we had to go back to schools. I am a person with social anxiety and after spending almost a year at home I was really terrified that I had to go back into the world which really effected my work (I was in art school so my art was just getting not what it used to be before) ken and dane became my comfort background sound 😂 I started listening to the gypsy weddings videos and I would always have them on in my headphones while I was painting or doing other projects. I stopped watching their content for about a year ago and I was going down a spiral again cuz this time I have graduated from art school and I can't find a job or a project to support myself so I started watching their content again and seeing that mary is also a part of it now for some reason makes me happy. I don't know why it is like this but you guys are like my comfort youtubers. Idc what is the topic that you're talking I just love listening to you guys discuss about it and I also love it how keen ken's attention is as how he picks up on smallest details and point them out for us ✨🥺 I honestly don't know why I'm typing this but I needed to let you guys know this ✨💖

when i first heard about veganism, I was told they were doing it out of love for animals and the earth.
nowadays it's more like "carrot carrot on the wall, who's the most vegan of them all" and people are hypercritical about others that are just starting out and looking down on others because they arent as vegan as they are.
If they wanted to have a pissing contest, theres a whole heap of alleys they can use
let people eat what they want and transition into things at their own pace or you're just going to make an enemy

Sounds like you have no clue about the vegan community. Just because you hear about people who scream the loudest for clout, doesn't mean that veganism is about criticizing each and every one. I am active in the vegan community and rarely meet anyone who criticizes other vegans about their actions.
Though I love the "let people eat what they want". What about WHO they eat? There are victims attached to your actions. If you think it is offensive when someone tells you that what you are doing is participating in rape, torture and murder, you should think about your actions. If you can sleep at night knowing you participate in the maximum harm of animals because of laziness and or selfishness, then fine. But I at least hope that you are not a hypocrite then who pretends to love animals lol

As a musician that grew up in upstate New York with the competition comprising mostly of hardcore and punk at the time, while I played indie/folk. Yeah I can’t even imagine how rough it was around the rest of the state, let alone the city. It’s insane how dog-eat-dog it is out there.
The reason i come back time and time again, is because you guys are honest and funny. The way you openly talk about content creation and both sides of the issues are something i like. It's not biased passed things that are common place.
