  • Here are a couple of somewhat rare GameCube commercials from the Summer of 2003. These are two 15 second promos, one for Soulcalibur II (the version with Link from "The Legend of Zelda"), and one for "Star Wars: Rogue Squadron III: Rebel Strike".
Commentary: This is my favorite generation of video game consoles (though I personally had a PS2, and then later an original Xbox. Never owned a GameCube). It's after 3D graphics started to get truly good (compared to the early days of the original PlayStation and the Nintendo 64) and it's before the era of microtransactions, DLC and incomplete games (which was in existence by the end of the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360).
These were taken from recording of a half a rerun episode of "Saturday Night Live" on Comedy Central (from July, 2003) at the end of a VHS tape. There were other commercials, but not many (again, it was only half an episode) and....I just didn't like Comedy Central after the 90's. There were no promos here for South Park. Figured I'd skip straight to the good stuff and share these two GameCube commercials. I do find it interesting that GameCube video game commercials would air at night on Comedy Central in 2003.
    Stay tuned, more to come!
