- Star Wars Rogue Squadron review. www.ClassicGameRoom.com Classic Game Room reviews STAR WARS ROGUE SQUADRON from Factor 5 and Lucas Arts released in 1998 for the Nintendo 64 and PC. The first Rogue Squadron game takes place between the first and second movies in the original trilogy and has you flying with the elite Rogue Squadron of pilots against the dreaded empire! Win missions by destroying bad guys and completing objectives to earn medals and unlock loads of special features and unlockable content like new starships, the Naboo Starfighter and Millennium Falcon. CGR Rogue Squadron video review features Nintendo 64 Rogue Squadron gameplay recorded from the N64 video game console. Space ships in the game include the X-Wing, Y-Wing, A-Wing, Snow Speeder, V-Wing and more! Rogue Squadron on the N64 was followed up with two excellent sequels on the Nintendo GameCube, Rogue Leader and Rebel Strike! Enjoy some arcade style Star Wars flight action with Rogue Squadron from 1998!

Graphically this game is really impressive for N64.
Kaz expansion pack POWER woowoo!!
The mission based gameplay was also pretty cutting edge for it's time. It was one of the first games I played that actually had mission specific goals.
Surprizingly good gameplay too
This game is amazing ... I worked at Nintendo and was part of the bug squadron testing this game back in 98... Definitely the best of the series and a must play ... Love the story in the game and the controls while flying are beautiful. Definitely brings the Star Wars universe to life.
I’ve reverently got an N64 and was wondering if you need an expansion pack to play this? And a memory pack to save?
Al Benzies ... Yes you need the expansion pack, sharpens the graphics and makes it a much better experience....You don’t need a memory pack, the game will save internally... expansion pack is a must though ...
@@kissthistwice5 i just recently bought an N64 console just to play Rogue Squadron, the expansion pack is a must for graphics and am thinking of getting a rumble pak...
This is one of the greatest games ever made. The next two were also fantastic games.
I never could even get half way through this game as a kid but I still absolutely loved the game anyway! I remember getting my mom to rent it for me at blockbuster almost every weekend
When I was a kid, this was my Dark Souls.
+Farscryer0 Ain't that the truth! I remember rage quitting, aka, turning off the 64, over and over while playing this game
kevinblack16 Remember the landspeeder levels? The first one took me a week to beat, because I couldn't get the hang of grappling the AT-AT's legs and circling around it multiple times.
And I don't want to think about how I wound up breaking one of my controllers during the Kessel train level.
Very difficult game
"Raid on Sullust" never forget...
i just started playing it for the first time. only on the 2nd level and keep failing the mission. i keep trying to kill all those bombers as quickly as possible, but apparently it's not fast enough. i'm playing on an emulator on my phone and it looks and plays great, but may be a little tougher because of the smaller screen.
oh god, this brings back memories... one of my favorite N64 games... not a Star Wars fan but definitely I'm a Rogue Squadron's one.
This is one of the best N64 games and one of the best Star Wars games ever made. Lucas Arts make great and inventive use of the Star Wars universe here. Get 19 gold medals and tell me its a Star Wars paint job.
I was part of the bug squadron testing this game back in 98. This and Ocarina of time ... Gr8 year for video games !! This game is one of the best on the Nintendo 64.
I used to play this game for hours on end. One of the best Star Wars games ever!
Oh my god that final clip of the AT-ST threw me right back to 1999 or so, I had completely forgotten that hidden level even existed. Jesus, thanks for the memories.
my friend...I love this game and has a special place in my heart. One of the first games I got for the 64 when I got mine later in its run. But not to digress, this game was amazing for its time and of course Rogue Leader is one of my favs. So much replay value to get all Golds to unlock the etra levels and its is just straight up bad ass. Keep up the awesome reviews
Thank you for reviewing my childhood. And giving it so much praise. :)
I love the last few seconds. I nearly spit out my beer from laughing!
I remember when my older brother gave this to my dad as a birthday present in 1998... 14 years later the writing "To: X From: X" still stay there to this day.
I just realized I still have this game and an N64. I really should play it again, Nostalgia here i come !
This game takes me way back! I played this game all the time!!
Personally i think that his narrative style is one of the things that make CGR great :)
1998 was just a great year for the Nintendo 64.
Great game, still just as fun today as it was when it was released.
this game was so much fun!! i still remember how hard it was to put the cable around those big machines so you can trip them up. GREAT GAME
i think i played this game when i was like 8 or 9, I had never seen anything like it, it was amazing
Played the hell out of this on my PC back in the day. Good times.
This is my favorite of the rogue squadron games, even if it's just because of my nostalgia.
Finally, a CGR reviewer that did the original Rogue Squadron justice.
I truly love this game to this day. I still have the original disc for PC.
I remember when my dad promised to get me this game for Christmas. I swear days have never been as long as the days I spent waiting for Christmas to come. The game was absolutely amazing. Then I reached the fifth level and I was stuck for weeks.
Hey ClassicGameroom I always like ur vids without watching them!! MAKE MORE!!
I remember playing this ALOT as a kid. Good times :)
this game i could never put down because of how much fun i had with it, and the 3 unlockable levels, and how to unlock the naboo star fighter with nintendo power magazine, and also i lost count on how many times in this game ive traveled down the death star trench to destroy the death star itself, the comment about going through the level 500 times brought back memories on how many times i had to re do levels.
I had this game on my old PC.Man i realy love this game
Omg i remember playing this when i was little. Fun times were had :D
I had the 2nd one on Gamecube, super fun and super hard, if you see it around i highly recommend picking it up. My dad printed me off a guide just so i could complete it.
I loved this game i used to have it and it was my first N64 game when i was a kid
played this game a thousand times. everywhere gold ^^
This is still my favorite Star Wars game. Please bring this to Virtual Console!
the thing that I remember the most is that piloting the Millenium Falcon on this one felt so smooth and cool, but in the other two from gamecube it was just a nightmare.
Thumbs up for Mark! This time he pronounced right the AT-ST! 1:23
I played this game on PC a lot! I loved it, it had some really great moments and the graphics were just awesome!
I loved this game back in the day. That damn gorge mission with the Y-wing was pretty hard but after a while it wasnt so bad.
All I remember about this game is that I loved it and played it a ton to unlock the secret ships.
oh god i spent months playing this game. I loved it.
yep that is the one, good times I remember renting those games and finally buying them
really liked the type of games that came out for the original PS
omg this was my childhood!!!
You have to beat Kotors multiple times to fully experience their greatness and that can take up to 25 to 30 hours at a time. Mark normally puts only a few hours into most of the games reviews just to get a good feel for what the game is about and to get game footage for the review.
Great game, remember playing this a lot on my N64, at the time i thought the graphics were incredible :)
"It's like the SUV of spaceships!" lol
4:03 happened to me so many times, damn those AT-AT....
What a game it was I still have at home
OMFG I love this game! I always played it on my P233, it was never enough it was alway freakin fun! I also had the Naboo Starfighter game and Shadow of the Empire!
This game runs really smooth and looks fantastic in hi-res, not to mention it's a great game :o.
My first console game, great memories :)
My greatest PC game ever, my first one ever and still my most treasured.
Awesome review!
The reason I love his reviews is because of his awesome way of speaking. I guess it's just preference.
I had this game for the N64 way back in the day. Used to play the shit out of it. :) It's still one of my all time favourite games.
played this like crazy on my pc a decade ago :D
how i loved to play this game all day.
I was getting the murky vision that you say about... but after watching some videos on YT and the most dark levels they we looking fine on the video... so my TVs
Set up like backlight, color, brightness and all that was mess up, I tweak that and now am seeing everything the right way.
Played this and goldeneye on my n64 when i was little. Good times
This game rocks, im half through it on my n64
Great video. This was a great game. I have been hoping to get my hands on a copy but am in no hurry to get it though I thought it was a great game.
looks pretty good, i think i hired it for my 64 back in the day. i still have my old 64 maybe i should try and hunt down a copy of this game!
I've played this game on PC when I was little!
I LOVED this game! Need to find an N64 on craigslist or something.
OMG i spent MONTHS on this game, and it was the first game really makin my jaw drop when i popped in the Expension pack!
dude this got me into gaming ill never forget playing this with my little 6 year old brother and fuckin loving this game
I have this game too! It's pretty awesome
I loved this game. Wish they'd make a similar one in the near future :]
I cried in laughing when he was in the AT-ST. XD
One of the best game for the console despite not having many good ones
This game was amazing, got it with my N64 :)
My God! The nostalgia.
Wish I still had this and the Gamecube sequels to this.
I remember I played the Hoth level alot in this game, and I mean alot
On the Gamecube you'll find Rogue Squadron 2 and 3. The first one was released only on Nintendo 64 and PC.
My favourite, has always been the Y-Wing, the good B52 bomber of the galaxy!
Also what happened to the B-Wing from the selection, they always forget the B-wing....
great game. Im not even a big SW fan but i really enjoyed the game.
i love that game, i played it as a kid :D
OH MY GOD!
Shadows of the Empire is probably my favorite Star Wars game next to the Battlefront ones.
That's the first n64 game I've ever owned
CHILDHOOD!!!!!!
that fog is my memory of my N64 =)
i bought this game for 10 bucks a month ago, absolutely love it
Man I loved this game.. seriously awesome.
This game got me into Star Wars. My favorate character is Wedge Antillies. You can see how it has affected me
I absolutely loved Rogue Squadron on N64
Though I am really surprised that the review doesn't pick up on
the best part of the original.
Now in the following two games you are always having your team mates get in the way and steal kills you constantly have to dismiss them.
Whereas the original it's a team score so if the someone in your wing bags a kill it's all good and this reflects better the camaraderie not only of the Rogues but also the Rebel Alliance.
This game plus ocarina of time= my childhood
I've always loved this freakin game
absolutely amazing game at the time. One of the best Star Wars games.
I loved Rebel Strike, just for the co-op, and much clearer visuals, just personal preference though
I love your reviews. Keep them up. Ur so funny
I played this as a kid... ahh memories
also KOELSCH... love that car..
Hands down one of the best games ever made....and my favorite Star Wars game.....Super Star Wars on SNES is pretty damn fun too...
This and shadows of the empire were the only 2 games i ever played back when i was a kid other than goldeneye!
This is the first game i ever playes, i still have it at home on pc
oh I remember playing this on the good old PC
stupid world devastators
He wasn't trying to argue, he's just saying usually the A-Wing is the best ship in all the star wars games...And quite cool...
I played this game while i was in hospital. Good memorys. lool.
Lord Karnage!! You should review Shadows of the Empire.
Still play this game!
I don't remember those levels being so dark..! Maybe it's because of the newer LCD TVs or something.. or at least, play with the contrast/brightness to help!
