Cadillac XT6 Review // A nice Surprise

  • The Cadillac XT6 is a new 7-passenger SUV based on the smaller XT5. This Cadillac XT6 is also based on the same platform as the GMC Acadia that debuted recently. The Cadillac XT6 is only sold with a 7-passnger setup, no captains chairs are offered in this model. However, the XT6 comes nicely equipped with a 310hp 3.6l V6 engine, a 9-speed automatic transmission, moonroof, power rear lift gate and 20-inch wheels. This Cadillac XT6 has only an 8-inch centre infotainment screen compared to others with larger 12-inch screens. Handling is good with the sport trim due to adaptive suspension and a Euro-focus suspension tuning. This new XT6 has few direct competitors due to the size, fitting in more as an XT5+2 instead of a pure 7 or 8-passenger model.

    I just picked up my 2022 XT6 Premium Luxury last week and I couldn't be happier with it! Terrific looking and functional, great space and comfort, reasonably priced for it's segment, great tech and safety features, plenty of power and a smooth ride! It's my first domestic US car brand purchase in 20 years.

    I'm in my 50's & I'm thinking luxury when it comes to the Cadillac Escalade, XT6 & the CT6.

  • @stephenhendricks103
    @stephenhendricks103 Před 4 lety +12

    Interesting review, folks. I'm much more familiar with so-called "mainstream" SUV's than the "luxury" segment. And I find it interesting that different standards and comparisons appear to be applied to the different market segments. For example, the VW Atlas is 198.3"in length while the XT6 is 198.5" long. Yet reviews of the Atlas routinely emphasize how large it is while the reviews of the XT6 speak of it as relatively small in comparison to the Escalade. No criticism intended. I just find it interesting that perceptions of a vehicle's size are implicitly based on completely different comparisons.
    A similar distinction in terms of interior size appears to apply to vehicles in the "mainstream" vs the "luxury" SUV categories. An Atlas provides a total of 97 cubic feet of overall cargo space. The XT6 has 79 cubic ft, only three cubic feet more than a Honda CR-V. The third row of the Atlas has 33.7" of legroom while the XT6 has less legroom(29.5") in the back row than a Ford Mustang's back seat (30"). There appears to be an implicit assumption that for buyers of "luxury" SUV"s actual "utility" in terms of cargo space and passenger room is less important than for consumers looking at "mainstream" brands. It's a difference that may be based distinct demographics and needs of those consumer categories. (e.g. affluence and family size.)

    Damn Andrea, killing it. 👍 I love how the XT6 looks on the outside, maybe the best looking CUV out there, the interior needs some work though, not up to par with most of the competition. My buddy did downsize from an Escalade to one of these and he is very happy. I am just like you with sunroofs, have them but hate them, never use them, have panoramic sunroofs on my cars and I can count the amount of times I have opened them up, it's like the Jacuzzi in my house, never use the damn thing. lol

    I grew up with my father loving 70’s Cadillac’s. I got into the Cadillac brand myself with the 2015 ATS (still have it and it still looks great in 2023 with 100K Km on it), then a 2018 CTS which I just traded for a new 2024 XT6 Sport.
    New XT6 Sport is Stellar Black Metallic with the Cirrus (white) interior. Stunning! Fell in love at first sight. Has the Technology Package and Driver Assist Package. Has the big beautiful red calliper Brembo brakes and the dealer installed “muted” Cadillac emblems front and back.
    A stunning SUV that I very much look forward to owning for some time.

    Great review I really enjoy your wife being in the review videos, she gives a unique perspective. I had the first year of the current body style GMC Acadia and loved it. When my lease was up last year I ended up with the Kia Telluride. That edges out the Acadia in Luxury feel plus it has a 12 inch infotainment screen something this XT6 which costs $20K more doesn't even have! If you are not status obsessed, I recommend getting the Acadia Denali, or the Telluride.

    I didn't think this looked nice at first but then I saw it in person because my neighbor had one. It looks really good in person at least from the outside. Haven't seen the interior up close.
    As a note, I think screen size should be commensurate with car size (8" compact, 10" two row midsize, and 12" 3 row midsize). 8" is too small for that vehicle but would be ok for the XT 4.

    Hm, it's interesting that cost cutting on the lower interior gets a mention on a Cadillac of all things. If I was to spend that kind of money I would want it to have everything that could be had on a GM. Gold plated trim hello. lol If people want to pay for it let em. A Cadillac should always have the over the top option set. It's a minor detail but a cell cubby is important to people that probably have 1500 dollar cell phones to protect.

    Seems like the CX-9 is still tops in this category even though it's older. Sporty drive, 3 Rd row for occasional usage just with a lower sticker price.

    • @gregholman2930
      @gregholman2930 Před 4 lety +1

      The engine in the CX-9 is inadequate for the weight in my opinion that's why it gets terrible fuel economy. Mazda needs to put a 3.0T to be competitive, but I haven't driven one so don't mind me.

      @2W3X4YZ5 Před 4 lety +3

      @Greg Holman I run a 2016 CX-9 Signature, awd with 2.5 litre SkyActiv turbo. I average 26mpg. It has 310 lb/ft of torque-way more than that 2003 design HF V6 from GM.

    • @eleanormassaro5195
      @eleanormassaro5195 Před 4 lety +2

      Greg Holman I got to spend a week with a Mazda CX-9 grand touring AWD rental car to go on vacation and let me tell you, the fuel economy was great on it, and the car drove Fantastic, had plenty of pick-up. my family was very impressed with it! I used the adaptive cruise cruise control almost the entire trip and really liked having the heads up display. Probably the only negative thing that I found was I could not find a comfortable position for the driver seat. Again, the turbo four-cylinder was very impressive. It might be a little loud on cold start up, but it quiets up right away. Whenever I was standing still at a stoplight or in park, you couldn’t even hear the engine! At first We thought it might have auto stop/start, but it doesn’t. I’m very impressed with the CX-9 and I think it is very underrated!

    • @2W3X4YZ5
      @2W3X4YZ5 Před 4 lety +1
