This chap doesn't think it's the future. ONE of the most powerful men in the automotive industry has accused governments of being dishonest about electric cars.
Carlos Tavares is the chief executive officer of French group PSA, which employs 180,000 people and includes Peugeot, Citroen, DS Automobiles, Opel and British car maker Vauxhall.
He said politicians had failed to make it clear that electric cars would undoubtedly be more expensive than traditional vehicles powered by internal combustion engines.
And he suggested politicians should be absolutely sure they had made the right decision for the planet in reaching for electricity as their preferred option for the future.
He said: “If, in 10 or 20 years, something new happens and they figure out they have selected the wrong technology, the costs to society are going to be enormous.”
Speaking at the launch of the Peugeot 208 and e-208 in his home country of Portugal, he said politicians needed to tell the truth about electric cars. In Europe alone, 448billion euros are raised annually from tax on petrol and diesel, which will have to be found elsewhere if drivers move to electric.

People here in Miami really love their EV's. In fact they are so happy with them they wish they never got them. The reason? Because they are only getting 700 to 1000 miles out of a set of tires. Here in Miami because of the hot sun the roads get very hot. It seems the rubber compound used is much softer than non-EV cars. This leads to accelerated tire wear as more rubber is left on the road surface then normal tires. In fact this is such a concern that the state is looking into rubber pollution caused by EV tires. It seems that the rain is washing the rubber off of the roads, and this runoff is full of little rubber bits. This rubber is then making its way to the beach and into the ocean.
But don't worry,,,, EV's are great!!

We must be able to say things even with the risk offending people. I remember once having a coffee break with a friend of mine between jobs. He asked me if I had any more jobs that day. I said "Yes, why do you ask?". He told me I was a bit woofy under the arms. For some reason, I hadn't noticed. He risked offending and upsetting me but he hadn't. I really appreciated it and I thanked him. I was able to remedy it before my next job. But imagine if he was too scared to tell me.
I know this is trivial in the scheme of things but we are heading towards a time where we will not be allowed to offend anyone.

Show your working, then repeat for burning petrol or diesel. We can take a quick stab at it, if we say a fast charge would be full battery, that's about 2 gallons. So what you're saying is that you could power 1600 houses for the same as around ONE tank of petrol.
      How does that sound?

I am reminded of the pollution from EVs every time I see one. The wind generators remind me of the same thing. Huge fans spoiling the view and the environment! The CEO of Hertz was fired after he bought 30,000 EVs for rental and NOBODY wants to rent them. I rented what I thought was a gas vehicle at Bradley International Airport (BDL) the 3rd of April of this year. The counter guy said all we have are EVs. I said I don't want an EV. I live in a town in Western Massachusetts with a population of 460 people. We don't even have traffic lights. There is no place to charge an EV. He said that's all we have left. It was snowing, night time, frigid cold with sleet. So we needed lights, heater and wipers. I was stuck so I took the car. Talking about stressful, I kept watching the mileage calculator unwind. Counter guy said no worry click on the app and it will show you all the charging stations. I said you didn't hear me. We have no businesses at all in Tolland, MA. There are no charging stations. Made it 40 miles home and turned that turd back in the next day. EV charging stress is real and an asinine way to drive in the country. You can keep those POS.
