I think as fans it’s so frustrating when Ange brings on Skipp when we’re losing a game over Donley for example.
There is no way some of these kids don’t do more then some of these so called first teamers

I am more excited about the near future of Spurs than I've ever been, that academy squad and the quality they are showing, Bergvall and Dragusin choosing us over really big teams, talents like Sarr and Udogie signing huge contracts, Postecoglou caring about every aspect of the club, it's really looking like something special is coming in the next couple years, finally!

  • @CaptainHowdy-mw9vc

The lack of cohesion between the academy and the first team is probably the biggest failing of the club in the modern era. The reason why Man City and Liverpool can produce the likes of Oscar Bobb, Cole Palmer, Connor Bradley etc, who fit seamlessly into their fist teams, is because they have been raised in the culture of the club since day one. Having the academy play one system and the first team play another would be like training sous chefs to only flip burgers and then expect them to be able to create high end cuisine by the time they get to the kitchen. Football clubs should have a brand mission and that should remain consistent from day one.

You can’t tell a youth player the gap is essentially too big, how are they meant to bridge that gap without any meaningful in game minutes not just 2mins at the end of a game. All the big six have shown the capability to do this often apart from Arsenal and Spurs. We need to do better or we’ll lose them fast.

The result of this will be more reports of how rich Spurs are..BUT....It will do jack all for out first team when we are linked with players of potential and Everton players etc. The problem is Spurs as a club hierarchy ARE NOT WINNERS.This is your problem and why 16 years and no cup is no biggie at Lillywhite house. As long as F1 money and NFL money are rolling in... its all good....Look who we buy and are linked to.... WERE NOT INTERESTED in winning trophies. Its not being negative... I agree 100% with this comment - I've heard about all these 'changes' - people at the club talking about the 'changes', & I've yet to hear an example of a change that has been made by AP. He wants to change the culture - how has he gone about this in practical terms? Was it George Graham who removed the TV from the treatment room? Something like that. Admittedly it may be different as a journalist - where you are reporting speech - but as a non-fiction writer I have to support my thesis or contentions. With your vlogger hat on an example to illustrate the point wouldn't go amiss. Many thanks.

It's been way too long since we last won anything. For a supposedly big 6 team, it's frankly nor good enough.2 cups in 30 years is not good enough.
Enic, Daniel Levy, and the board do have responsibility for that.
We came close under Poch, and yesterday's cup final with Chelsea reminded me of Spurs in recent years on big occasions (even though Chelsea looked threatening).
However, for once, I do have optimism that this appointment of Ange is what this club needed. Like Klopp at Liverpool, we have to nurture youth and invest where the club needs.
It's a long road ahead. We may have to endure another season or two before we win anything.
However I feel we are on the right path. 👍

  • @richarddaygm
    @richarddaygm Před 2 měsíci +3

I dont know how any spurs fan can take the league cup seriously when we know the club have treated it with utter contempt. To be fair I rather we focus on the league too.
As for Postlecoglou promoting the youth, he's a guy who you have to watch what he does rather than what he says.
Skipp has been largely sidelined and phillips was ignored when we had no CB's. He also talks of more transfer windows needed to fix the side which is counter to bringing players through.
He not necessarily wrong to do this if the goal is to win something in the short time he'll be here.
Souness was a very unpleasant player, but won the lot. He's one that got away.

Thanks, Alasdair for spending a good amount of time discussing the academy players. I did watch the highlights of the U21 game and some of the play was awesome. It is fascinating and exciting to imagine what might happen in the future with some of those players. I would like to see Jamie Donley on the bench as a backup to Madison and for him to be given 20-30 minutes game time. Long enough for him to lose any nerves and settle into a rhythm. With Spurs hopefully having some form of European football next season and going further in at least one of the cups I would not send Donley out on loan but plan to give him a lot more game time with Spurs next season. I agree with you that we definitely need celebrations at Tottenham as soon as possible. Maybe one or two of the academy kids can help the team achieve success.

You have been almost exclusively positive so far but I just wonder if perhaps now, you may suspect thatPosteciglu's stated determination to stick with Plan "A" (there is no Plan "B" anyway...) no matter what will start to cost us more and more as other teams become more clued in on how to counter and defeat us every week. I just can't see us getting anywhere with a manager who is so unwilling ( or unable ) to adapt, also-far be it from Captain Clueless here to criticise him but he seems unable to fine tune a game with timely, appropriate substituions-if either of these two traits were taken a bit further we'd be in Conteland.

The good thing with youngsters they play with all their heart, those Liverpool youngsters never stopped running. I think everything was there for all to see that much hype on Gallagher but proved otherwise???

They seem to play with no fear also. I think a lot of that is down to Klopp, he seems to give them that freedom to enjoy themselves out there

As for rejects, you named them Modric and Bale it's just a crying shame when Bale came back we had Covid so I couldn't go to watch him in the new stadium, watching the pair of them at White Hart Lane was always a joy.

Watched both the Pep documentary and the Gianni documentary (Greek basketball player) reminds us that some of criticism ange is getting for being naive pep for first season - and interesting Greek quote about loyalty in giannis doc and him being immigrant also has links to ange upbringing and look into potentially his psyche as well as giannis

I would think the greatest example is Graeme Souness - struggled to break into the Spurs first team and had a glittering career with Middlesbrough, Liverpool, Sampdoria and Rangers.

Wow that was a huge unders update...Let's hope all this promise comes to fruition.... But recent history says different...
As for Sess about online abuse....This is not good...but. Ledley King was ALWAYS injured...He didn't get any abuse...BECASE HE WAS VERY GOOD.
That's the difference Sess is a shocking footballer.that no top 10 team would touch fully fit.. AM I WRONG?

Right you are , the spurs way of play and the under 18 and under 21 players ,there are ball players between them , Spurs senior players play with the intelligence of not going too loose ,then they loos too lower table teams .playing the man city, united Chelsea, arsenal they act like this is the teams they can set their standards against

Hi Alasdair question for you please.
As a ST holder have you heard anything on the grapevine about an increase for next season?
We’ve had it frozen for the last two seasons but I’ll be surprised if it didn’t go up for 2024/25.

What is the daily routine or expectations of a player during a long term injury? Take bentacur or Perisic a few months after their ACL surgery- do they come to hotspur way everyday still? What do they work on?

Ange will not be allowed to change any form of culture at Tottenham Hotspur, because Daniel Levy is the THFC Director of Football. If Levy had hired Klopp instead of Liverool, do you really believe he would have brought Tottenham Hotspur the same success as he has brought to Liverool? Of course not! He would have been undermined and not backed, and Klopp would have walked or got sacked within a couple of seasons trophyless. Nothing changes until ENIC sale the club and Loser Levy has gone...
