You’re correct to assume college fans are more passionate than NFL. College football is allot like soccer in that it’s more localized so it means more to the fans, more traditions, more history, more rivalry’s. Having been to both, the vibe at Auburn vs Alabama was very similar to the old firm

One bit of context that gets left out is not only are all of these huge plays, but almost every one of them is either a massive upset, a brutal rivalry, or a championship game. Almost none of them were without supreme fan interest even before you consider how great the play was.

13:04 was one of the greatest passes by Tua Tagovailoa when Alabama won the 2018 national championship game back in January 2019. I watched that game in it's entirety. Such excitement. If you watched closely, Irv Smith Jr. accidentally knocks down a photographer when Alabama went to celebrate that touchdown pass LOL!
The last clip was called "The Kick Six" when Auburn upset Alabama back during the 2013 Iron Bowl. Alabama was going to make a field goal attempt during the last second of the game, when it was short of the goal post. There was an Auburn punt returner beside the goal post line. When the football veered off, the Auburn punt returner caught the football, and took off with it towards the other way. Auburn won the game 34-28. There hasn't been anything like that since then. Coming from an Alabama fan, that was a lucky save for Auburn that evening.

Being a college football fan, especially for a team that isn't a "traditionally" great team, is a labor of love. My dad never misses a game, and on any given Saturday in the fall, he's going to either be in his team's stadium or watching them on TV if it's an away game. They've had a few good seasons and produced some amazing NFL talent, but man if the majority of seasons haven't been heartbreakers at times. I've seen my dad go in full-on depressions at times. College athletics is the only thing in the US I think you could find a comparison for the loyalty and religion-like quality you talk about in English football. Professional teams are too far away from most people and the fact that a team could hypothetically be moved at any time, it's hard to get SUPER invested. Universities don't move, and they've been around longer than professional sports in the US. People can trace their allegiance to college teams all the way back to the 1800s, usually. It's really special, and the number of people that get into it (the huge stadiums you see) is a testament to that.
Also, I'm sure you're aware but some of these special moments had less to do with the actual play, but rather the weight of the game, the history between the two teams, specific players, etc. For example, that clip where you talked about pitch invasions was Ole Miss beating the perennial powerhouse that is Alabama football. Beating Alabama is monumental no matter what, and when you do it in monumental fashion like that, people are going to go wild.

I don't know if you've seen it but my favorite (and the most hype) tradition is from the University of Wisconsin where between the third and fourth quarter the entire stadium jumps while the PA system plays "Jump Around". The whole stadium literally shakes and it's one of those seismic events. It's an absolute must see, and even though Wisconsin is a rival of my team Michigan it makes me get hype.
I'd recommend you see videos on best places to "tailgate" in college football, (I'm assuming you don't tailgate in the UK or it's called something else). Tailgate is essentially massive outdoor parties outside the stadium attended by tens of thousands of people. They start before the sunrise of gameday and end well after sunset.

One thing about college football is that the season is short and intense: 12 games, once a week, and a bowl game about a month later. Then from Jan to Sep you wait and you wait and you wait! Soccer, is just the opposite. There seems to be almost no offseason. I mean, right now, they have the Euros. But as soon as that is over, they have a preseason tour and BOOM... new season in September. The off-season of Soccer is just enough time to get a cup of coffee and sit down and before you know it, there's a match on.

There is a big forest in the middle of campus and the football stadium is in the middle or that forest. The day od the game, a lot of people park their cars and trucks and RVs in the forest and camp out there all day and night. Once the game starts at night, they turn on all the floodlights at the stadium and being in the dark forest with no lights and then having this big lighted up stadium in the middle looks like something out or a Sci fi movie! Keep in mind additionally not only are these teams often times tremendous rivals but the conferences themselves are rivals as well for the quality of the game that they play within the conferences individually. Southeastern conference and the Big Ten conference is respectively do not have much respect for conferences in the western part of the US because they play such a large passing game with not as much defense. The NFL is known for its passing game and the university games are changing to be more pass-oriented, whereas the original American football game, where the “tough guys” played what was known as “3 yards in a cloud of dust”, meaning strong but brutal running games is still defended as real football. Both running games and passing games and the combination of the two all have their good points. Understanding the emotion behind the games that one in these highlights and the actual players who made the scores are really important part of understanding the actual games themselves. It’s amazing how big college stadiums are. 100k capacity stadiums are extremely rare here in Europe!

You should check out the Michigan vs Ohio State rivalry, in my opinion one of the best in sports history
