Agreed, In California with 8% tax add in 20% down with todays interest rates the payment is pushing $900.00 at 72 months. And that is not factoring the dealers "market adjustment" which you know will be 15-25k… Someone in CA is already running 15K mark up on the new land cruiser.

Because they stuffed 600 lbs of batteries and electric motors in it so it could still be slower, heavier and more complex!

Needed a midsized. Got a 2023 frontier pro 4x with every single option CPO with 7k miles on it for 34k.
Absolutely love it. Actually waited for these to come out before I made my decision. 65k? Toyota made the choice easy for me.

Why is it confusing that a bigger screen, turbo, electric motor and batteries are going to cost more than the outgoing model which had none of those?

@@Captndarty There is nothing new or revolutionary on this new truck to justify that price. If you are willing to pay that much more, fork a few more grands and get a Rivian instead, at least that truck is quite impressive in all aspect.

Its an issue definitely, but personally, I don't mind, owned a truck for 7 years and never once i sat in the back lol
Most people buying TRD pros aren't packing a family in. Like they said, it's meant for desert running and off-roading. It's not meant to be a family hauler.

The price is bewildering when a ZR2 can be had for 15k less and a Raptor or AT4x for ~8k less. Hell, you can get a respectively optioned Tremor, Trail Boss, Ram Rebel, or an AT4 optioned at this price point. Companies are just lost in our economy, and somebody needs to do hard hitting journalism on it. (PS, love the channel, just would love to see them challenged on their positions.)
Power tailgate is silly on a midsize truck. Extra cost that’s not necessary. Fine with dampened tailgate.
Being a toyota truck enthusiast used to mean getting an affordable truck that would last longer than the competition. All the people complaining about aging platforms and not enough tech , well here you go and now the prices reflect that too. Congrats, good looking trucks but the prices are ridiculous. Making the Hybrid optional not required on pro and trail hunter would have been nice. the Hybrid system is a big turn off for a lot of people and not really even necessary. We will keep our 22' 4 runner.

@@ironchung30Have you looked at the price of the competitors with the fancy gizmos? They arnt $65k. A Ranger Raptor comes basically loaded for 56k and a ZR2 tops out around $53k as long as you don’t get the Bison package
@@Jay-me7gw I agree it’s overpriced compared to competitors. The ZR2 maybe the better bang for buck IF…that 2.7L turbo is as durable as the engineers claim it to be. It would be super nice to see an American brand match a Toyota on reliability. We’ll see though. If Toyota can outlast the GMs and Fords by 200K miles (as they always have) then the $65K price might be justified.
Love these interviews with engineers. It helps with understanding why they did certain things e.g. about the engine cover missing. Also when talking to engineers about something they are more factual, and tend not to add marketing fluff about why something is done a certain way.

I don’t think any Toyota model has hood struts other than maybe a crown. They save that mostly for Lexus

The higher trim Tacoma prices are insane! Ford nailed it with the new Ranger Raptor. I'm a Toyota fan but I'd probably purchase a basic 1/2 ton over the Tacoma.

Toyota moves their Tacoma plant 100 percent to Mexico with cheaper labor then puts a 4 cylinder turbo with a battery in for a power plant and asks 10K more for there trucks, come on Toyota we are not stupid people no wonder why the dealerships are filling up with Tacomas!

@@oweny7814 going off a different companies numbers I saw. Mexican built cost -3000. Canada built -1500 vs USA With it costing about 3800 per car in Mexico. And 7000 in the USA. Pre new uaw contract.

Can't wait to try these new seats... I had a 2016 TRD OR and I really liked my seating position, my main concern was rear seat comfort for my growing kid. The reason why I bought a 2023 4Runner!
The back seats in the pro seem kinda useless with those shocks in the front seats.
Wow, kudos to Roman for asking the hard questions! I was rolling my eyes at how much seat space is taken by the isodynamic seats on the pro model.

The increased prices will kill the Tacoma. $8-$10k increase is insane.
Question 1 why not engine cover? Want to be careful with our money and only put in essential parts.
Question 2 - is hood scoop real or fake. - It’s fake.
Going for one of these will put many in Hock to their eyeballs!
I think there will be a shift in the higher end Tacoma‘s to the more wealthy demographic largely speaking

Tough questions... Didn't even ask about the ADD that grenaded itself on a mild 4x4 trail in a very lightly loaded brand new Tacoma, your brand new Tacoma...
Manual Adjustable shocks on a sxs isn’t bad, but no one wants to lay on the ground to adjust them in a 70k truck.
Especially after an off-road trip and it's covered in mud.
I won't have that problem in my ranger raptor on order and it's 10k less

This Is a dream for long life and repair ability for the world wide market. 10 years from now your not looking for some priority shock that hasn’t been made in 5 years. This a good for aftermarket and end consumer for consumable parts.

This was a great video. I put in a deposit for the TRD Pro before all the details were out, but I think the Trailhunter fits what I would do out here in Colorado bit more. I know the TRD Pro is more for baja racing and what not, but how good is it for something like rock crawling and overlanding, something the Trailhunter was more built for. Is it still decent? Is it complete crap? I'd feel better about keeping the TRD Pro order if I knew that.
Let's ask the tough question... will there be fake hood scoops?

Id like to know whats going on with thr new Hilux and if the Fortuner is continuing as a separate model, being axed or will be a rebadged new 4runner.

That radiator is massive! It looks like these use air to air intercoolers as well. I thought these used water to air intercoolers like the TT-V6. I actually prefer the air to air intercoolers for their simplicity, so that’s a good thing.
I delivered a new Land Cruiser to a customer yesterday, and noticed that it recommended premium fuel on the gas door. Does the new Tacoma TRD PRO and Trail Hunter require premium fuel also?

Great video, so much information . These trucks are above and beyond what you need for daily driving. I am impressed, but for my needs, the limited would be best.

We complain a lot about the price, but when you look at the Anatomy of these trucks, there is a TON of tech and thought that goes into them, way beyond the older generations, I always liked simple, but pushing the engineering envelope results in quite the technical marvel. While I prefer simplicity over complexity, there is no denying the benefits in the latest in technology and advancements.
That doesn't justify a $65000k pricetag for this.
This tech is not new and should not cost what they are asking. Ford has had a turbocharged truck engine for 14 years now and a 10 speed transmission for 8 years. Their Powerboost, which is way better than Toyota’s iForce max, has been out for 4 years and is not virtually a no cost option as of 2024.
The shocks on the TRD Pro arnt even that great.

Looks like it's exclusive to trailhunter, at least standard. It wasn't on the TRD pro. Maybe it'll be offered as an option.
No talks about the overheating in Moab?
With all the wiring that goes back into the bed, it would have been so easy to replicate the CHMSL and high mount cargo light wires back there. Offering 3 accessory switches in a 5-switch bank is lame.

45 more pounds is the extra payload? What happened to the 1700 lb rating that was spoken about?
A Sport 4wd actually has more payload at 1270. Overall, pretty shitty for such a stout frame.
I love the new trucks. I am tore between the Trailhunter and the Ranger Raptor. I have a couple years before I have to make a decision. I'm interested how these two will stand up during that time.

@thomas735 with the turbos I plan to change the oil every 3k to 5k I've heard that's the ticket with these engines. I'm also getting a long extended factory warranty through granger ford also.

You should have asked him why Toyota is charging so damn much if they've implemented significant cost savings measures in manufacturing (TNGA-F, plants in Mexico, etc)

@AllxLegitx808 I realize this. They won't want to burn that bridge, which is understandable. But in one of their many other vids, they always skip over this point. They tout TNGA-F as this big advantage.... and it is, for Toyota's bottom line. I'm sure Toyota did their homework in balancing out the platform for different builds, but ultimately, it's done for cost efficiency, and it does not appear that's being passed on to the customer

If the hybrid battery pack needs to be worked on, does the body have to come off of the frame?
I doubt these hybrids will keep its value like the previous gen. As the years go on used buyers may dread the day to replace the battery

I wish the sit in the pro is optional to standard no shocks sit. And the snorkel is optional too. In trail hunter. Well Tacoma is not perfect. 10 times behind compare to ranger raptor.
All those knobs on the back of the seats in the TRD Pro that your kids can play with and change/twist so you never know what “configuration” you are going to get. And then the shock settings that you have to turn on each wheel. Better not get distracted and then only turn 3 out of 4.
Needs to be a winch option on the trailhunter and it doesn't look like it's going to be easy aftermarket

Hey Sheldon. No memory seats is a deal breaker for me. Please get that into the 2025. Is really like rear air vents too for the kids. Not having them would make it hard to use with the kids in the summer.

If the TRD Pro is considered the desert runner, why is the desert air intake standard of the trail hunter and optional on the TRD Pro, shouldn't this be the other way around?

My biggest question is do the trd pro fog lights change color too ? The yellow is very crucial for fog and heavy snow. White fog lights are useless in fog.

$65K! I could find a low mileage first generation Raptor extended cab, with a bigger backseat than crew cab Tacomas, and still have enough money left to fill up the tank every week for 7 years.
Such amazing work done by Sheldon and the design/engineering team completely destroyed by the greedy execs. I have a feeling the execs demanded the gimmicky seats as well.
Like to see a diesel version that could go 1000km plus on a single tank. Perfect for trailhunter package.

The TRD Pro and Trailhunter are for highend buyers that want a prebuilt truck while TRD OR/Sport are what most people will afford to buy. Let's face it, lots of buyers upgrade suspension, build their own overland rig, and change their wheels and tires. In the end that 40k truck will be closer to 55k or more
