    "Obvious cooperation" is the exact reason why I hate alot of these bucks matches, you can clearly tell the opponent is waiting and helping their "rivals" complete devastating maneuvers against each other, I was watching alot of Ricochet matches with The Bucks n all them dudes, like why would you help you opponent land moves on u. I get that wrestling u have to cooperate with each other, but it shouldn't be so obvious. For example, like a choke slam, the opponent has to jump for the choke slammer,, but It is never noticeable. Wow obvious cooperation I could never out words to it but that is the exact problem with ALL OF AEW. Thank you Jim

  • @robintst
    @robintst Před 6 lety +25

    To paraphrase Jim himself, it's not about having the best match or the most spectacular spots, it's about giving the people something they can believe in and emotionally invest in. That's how it's supposed to be anyway. It's why I can't get into the New Japan shit... stiff strikes and overly dangerous high spots do not impress me, especially when it looks too choreographed and you can tell they're working together.
    No, people will never again believe that wrestling is a shoot but many of us as older fans know how it SHOULD be presented and since we rarely get that now from any promotion, we remain disillusioned and uninvested because they're so tongue-in-cheek about it being a work and making sure you see them taking the piss about it instead of respecting the business.
    This is why I love to hear stories from guys like Cornette and Ron Fuller of their heydays when kayfabe was strictly upheld, they've practically romanticized it at this point. I long for when babyfaces and heels could be clearly differentiated and the fans bought in and lost themselves in it. You didn't care how many moves they did or how acrobatic they were, you were fixated on the things they DID do that all had meaning and purpose to illicit a reaction from the audience.

      Thank you ken. I get so tired of hearing Cornette complain about a modern style as if it's failing at the classic one. Why should he learn how to throw "good punches" when punching isn't conducive with his style? And if he does become great at it, then what? Then incorporate it into his style? Change his style to be more like guys 30 years ago and sacrifice his unique signature style that's made him the biggest wrestler outside the WWE?

  • @Matt-cr4vv
    @Matt-cr4vv Před rokem

    I’m not a huge fan of the Omega/Bucks style of matches for the most part because I just feel there’s too much in them that essentially nothing matters. But I also recognize that not all styles are for everyone. I think I’d like this style of a match if they didn’t do this every single match they have. I’ve enjoyed some of their matches from AEW here and there but get over it if I see them frequently in a short time.
    I think this style was adopted largely because they were usually on independent shows where the same people weren’t seeing their matches every single week. So you go out like this because you essentially have new people consuming your match every time and thus the style doesn’t get old for fresh audiences. I think this has been an issue for being on a weekly show because the style gets overdone if you see it constantly. I also think it’s more appealing live than it is on television or PPV. I went to an AEW tv a few years ago when I was regularly following the company and saw Omega in an iron man match live and it was pretty fun to see all of that live. I found it enjoyable in that setting more than I ever have on TV.

      Either way, you don’t know what the fuck you’re talking about.
      There’s a difference between selling the effects of a move, and the tiredness of a match; to laying around for hours, like you’ve been trampled by horses, because you think, the longer a match goes, the better it will be considered.

    Top 5 in the World right now:
    Styles
    Okada
    Omega
    Owens
    Naito

      GranTyrant pretty good list...I'd replace Owens with heel Neville if he was active or Charlotte Flair

    • @LumpyAdams
      @LumpyAdams Před 6 lety

      Owens? Nah, no way. Zayn can have a good match with anyone. Owens can't.

    • @GranTyrant
      @GranTyrant Před 6 lety +1

      Owens has better psychology than anyone in the world except maybe Naito. That's an important element. He's def better than Zayn as body of work. I'm not just going by potential, I'm also considering actual success and popularity as well. Owens is the best heel in the biz

    I think he's over rated too. I don't care to see the same move over and over either and he'll hit the "V-Trigger" 17 times in 1 match. It gets annoying and makes the move seem ineffective. I think he has a lot of potential though. I'm way more impressed with Pentagon, Ray Fenix, the Young Bucks and Austin Aries personally

      el pedro that freak show casino Royale was “amazing” was it?? fuck off it was a pile of shit even vince wouldn’t book!!!
      Jericho v omega was nowhere near as good as their NJPW match
      Bucks v Lucha bros was like any other match they’ve ever done same spots over use of of the Canadian destroyer making it just look a move they do to “look cool” instead of wow that looks like it might legit hurt
      Cody v Dustin was a good match and actually told a story instead of having to rely on over the top flips to “get over”
      The rest was just ok nothing special and stuff you have seen elsewhere
      It sold out because it was hyped as being the return of “real pro wrestling” yet the first thing you saw was that horse shite gimmick battle royal that somehow MJF and hangman came out looking good!!!
      It was a over hyped Indy show for the Indy smarks
