This is an evolution of the sport. They are branching out to the Improve and dada and thearter arts audiences. ..and it makes sense, Body builders are Vinces demographic. AEW said it's not going to compete w/ WWE, they don't need to appeal to the Bodybuilder fans of the 80s, they are on WWE. But AEW is going w/ Inside jokes for the internet generation. .. Jeff Boyd - I honestly didn’t even watch AEW this past week, but when I saw this was a match I knew it was nothing more than a spotfest. Nothing about Omega excites me and he’s a channel changer.

I'm a fan of AEW but I can't defend this match. This was not good.
I cannot defend any match besides the Jon Moxley lights out matches, Inner Circle (reminds me of the nWo with their semi-tactic similar to the nWo fused a bit with Evolution) and MJF (that's it).
Makasua (whatever his name is), he used his jogstrap as "Mr Socko" wanting to commit suicude. This match harmed AEW in last week's rating battle to NXT. 🤢🤮
If AEW wants to scare WWE, dominate NXT and kill it.

Dave Meltzer only gave it 5 -stars.
I was cringing and groaning during this match. Two solid matches, two good squashes, and Omega acts like he has no feel for the show he's in. Omega should have learned from being a top draw in NJPW not to buttfumble on purpose. It's bad enough you do this stupidity to get yourself over, but to do this as an EVP when you know the WHOLE company has to get over, it's a new level of obliviousness. Until he gets it together I'll be skipping any segments involving Kenny Omega
Totally agree ..I was really enjoying the episode of dynamite for the reasons you described. This match killed all the momentum the show had.
He's been carried in all his biggest matches. Complete flop in AEW.

Hhh could actually wrestle he also knows the sport and how to get over. Say what you will about hunter but he paid his dues he carried bags and got over Hunter got Orton, and Batista over and helped make them legends. Hunter has done a lot for the sport and continues to do so with nxt. The only good matches Kenny has ever had was with guys who were experienced and who could carry him to a good match

The trent match last week was pretty good ..looks like NJPW did the right thing with Omega in that they contained the theatrics

Hes a bit of a Jekyll and Hyde it seems .great in the ring when presented properly but really cheesy with bad theatrics when given free reign.
I have been a fan (paying customer) of TNA/Impact since the Asylum days. I’m loyal. I am prepared to sift through mountains of shite just to get to those rare nuggets of gold. But this match made me turn off my TV. I’m going to like this video without watching it because this insult to my intelligence has already taken up enough of my time. And I know what Corny is going to say. And he’s correct.

Kenny's match definitely diminishes the main event.
This was rough. This was one of the worst matches they put on for TNT. NXT had on Gargano vs Ciampa and this is what they had to answer it with. Moxley, their world champion mind you, has had only a few minutes of screen time each dynamite since winning the belt. MJF and Page might not be able to travel, but it’s rough with out them. Sammy Guevara was just in the crowd, he could have been featured more. All in all, this was a disappointing Dynamite.
Benjamin Kelln reason nxt won. I think this is just me that tiny Khan needs a booker outside of these guy who will say no to them. It’s not a Vince macmahon thing but a this needs to make sense and build a match. Greg gagne, Dutch, Jake, I would say gabe sapolsky but he’s in evolve. They need a guy like that who will say you pay me to make money.

I wonder how this will affect next week’s ratings because they have been building up the Moxley and Hager match well, but this crap and the Hardy stuff has probably done a lot of damage for the regular viewer. I heard JR say the Moxley and Hager match is supposed to be great in an interview, it’d be a shame if this nonsense takes away attention from that.
I feel it's more sad that despite NXTs line up against this match, they barely won in the ratings and if I recall correctly, first time they have in a while.

I feel like even Jericho was disgusted he had to color commentate for the horseshit happening in the ring after he and Kenny Olivier had a serious main event feud in NJPW that was declared MOTY candidate. How the mighty have fallen, Jericho looks shitty for even being associated with Olivier now after this match.
Why do you feel like Jericho was disgusted when he said numerous times during his commentary and then again after the show that he enjoyed it?
He said he wouldn't want it all the time but occasionally is fine and in a time where people are looking for entertainment & escapism it works.
i can't remember the exact thing that caused it, but Jericho called it largely as a joke then sounded insulted at one point.

Not just Okada. Go down the list, Kushida, Ibushi (though they're friends), Ishii, Naito, Goto, Tana and so on. Kenny is a deadman if he finds himself anywhere near New Japan and poor Kota is going to have to make a personal choice when the time comes.

I had no idea who Kenny Omega was before AEW. Haven't liked him since I've seen him. I like some of his moves, but he's too fruity in his delivery. The added drama isn't necessary. I like AEW and disagree with Cornette on a lot of shit. This match was a fucken joke though. I'm 100% with him on this.

I feel so torn on Kenny Omega. I have seen him wrestle matches that I thought were some of the best I have ever seen. The guy can do it all and makes it look effortless. I was pumped when I heard he would be wrestling in AEW, but since that..I don't think I have seen him wrestle even an above average match. Sometimes I think he needs to go 100% dastardly evil heel.
Brian W I feel you, I loved him in NJPW because he was a serious wrestling machine. I don’t know what goof they replaced him with in AEW, but I have strong feeling the quality of his NJPW run was owed to Gedo putting a ceiling on his goofiness.

One more thing... Is the "ranking system" in AEW just a novelty term now? Because so far; ranking hasn't really meant shit.
Santino was funny at one point, they had him with Beth Phoenix acting like a goofball that was good shit pal.
Santino Marilla is the best comedy performer within the past two wrestling eras combined.
The ranking system sucks big time and they have a television title that is not based on the ranking system. It can work if it's the best of the best gets television time on TNT and the jobber and undercards gets AEW Dark Time.

It might be an unpopular opinion, but I think Riho is not that bad of a wrestler, she is pretty good in the ring

Nakazawa acts as the company's liason with the Japanese talent, he probably got the job through his connection to Kenny but then that's how pretty much anyone in the industry gets a job doing anything anywhere.
So he serves a backstage role primarily, but is still used as enhancement talent now and then, either for total squashes (like against Mox) or more light hearted matches with his more comedic bits. The Wardlow match was a squash match that only lasted 30 seconds. So, I can see why it was on CZcams. They needed something to fill the TV time.

@@JuggyBohab Sadly I don't know if there's much he can do about that (I'd guess there is a way to improve his delivery at least). I found the match to be pretty dull overall (the inclusion of Nakazawa just seemed weird due to him not teaming with Omega on AEW TV before).
That was the only real downside of that night.

I've defended Kenny in the past, but I'm done after what was pulled in that match and pre-match segment. Calling it an act, the baby oil, the fact they were "champions in Japan" but him and Naka look like they just met and have never worked in a match in their lives. Sloppy. Stupid. Just total bullshit. Naka needs to be fired immediately. Kenny needs to be pulled to the side and read the riot act and A. Change his shitty ways, or B. Get demoted. I'm done with this stupid bullshit side of Kenny and his friends....and it ran to the top of the hour which is the prime tv spot, atrocious.
And I hate to see Kenny Omega like this.. I hate he doesn't take it seriously.. Dude can be more miles ahead of his game if he took it seriously.. Dude has that Natural heel feel about him and he should embrace it.. This comedy crap isn't for him cause it doesn't work for him..
