Trust me, I'm a Mate Rimac fanboi, he's really something else. The Nevera though...300-400 kg heavier than announced intially, perhaps due to redesigns aimed at being closer the Phantom Tesla. Rimac does a lot of thjings really well, but Lucid has the best packaging I've ever seen. Same size as en E-Class or EQE, but way more spacious and a huuuuge frunk in stead of none. Lucid really cares about doing the best possible, their way.

hm I was thinking about a full stripped lucid trackcart with only the frame and basic aero left, and the batteries all at the bottom actually helps with traction to a degree....

Have you even driven an SF90? Why do you think that car feels so much more special than the Lucid, and other fast electric cars like the Plaid and Taycan Turbo S? The Lucid may be fast, but it is still a very heavy and pedestrian four door car which has little else going for it than its comfort, 0-60 trick and practicality. And speaking of comfort. You'd be surprised as to how comfortable a long road trip in an SF90 actually is.

A drag race is one thing, a twisting race course like Laguna Seca or an F1 circuit would yield a different result. Or a top speed race, after 150mph or so, the Ferrari would pull away.

The Lucid Air Sapphires top speed is 205 mph and the Ferrari SF90's top speed is 211 mph. It will take more than a mile to catch it.

Dont need a mile race just around a mountain or race track, The Lucid has nearly 700kg more in battery weight. It wont handle the corners like the Ferrari, The Ferrari in real life use would dominate on any race track or mountain run.

The sapphire launched way before the Ferrari. Just watch it in slow motion. The wheels simply haven’t started moving on the Ferrari whilst the sapphire has moved about a metre or so

One thing's very wrong about the Lucid Air...it's not a wagon.
Put this lucid tri motor set up in a very light weight huracan or 911 sized package, carbon body, magnesium wheels and carbon brakes, light weight seats/interior/glass, and see what happens...also when will they release the rumored 1800 hp quad motor lucid?
Making it lightweight means a small battery pack. A small battery pack means less range. Less range means you trailer it to the drag strip or find a nearby charger for 30 minutes. And, since Lucid refuses (so far) to adopt Tesla's NACS charging standard, that means you might not find the "nearby" charger doesn't work.
@@brownro214 Yup Lucid needs to put their pride and stubbornness behind them and utilize Tesla's charging network for sure..& if they came out w/a much lighter weight weith light weight materials 4 seat luxury super sport coupe two door, but w/their rumored 1800 or more HP quad motor set up(their technology can put out 2400hp if dialed up all the way to the limit though) then the result would be a car that is so fast that it would shock the industry, especially if they could sell it for under $250,000..it'd be a car that's a lot faster than a 1600 hp 5 million dollar Bugatti but at a tiny fraction of the cost..the upcoming 1250hp Corvette Zora hybrid is gonna be a supercar killer also..and all for around $250k also...

Lucid has a 3-row SUV being rolled out later this year. The Sapphire version of that will compete more with the Lamborghini Urus Performante crowd than Tesla's Model X. Mid-size chassis (smaller) vehicles slated to start being introduced in 2025.

Imagine when energy storage gets better, the weight savings are gonna dramatically increase performance not just top speed.
Top speed is barely affected by weight. Acceleration from standstill is. A bit.
At top speed, 90% or more of your power is for pushing away air. All the rest is rolling resistance. Rolling resistance is proportionate to mass+downforce time speed. Air drag ramps up way faster so faster cars deal with air drag almost exclusively, not with weight. Extra weight just makes it take a bit longer to reach the almost same top speed.
Solid state batteries are coming soon (they think), and they're gonna be game changers. Half the weight, twice the range, charge from 0-100 in 10 minutes. Or so says Toyota.
