Wondering why your favorite car wasn't included? Chances are we invited it and it wasn't available. We tried!
So what you're telling me is these numbers mean absolutely nothing because you didn't eliminate driver factor and just focus on the cars performance?
@@Flooberjobby That's the thing about cars: Someone has to drive them.
Too bad there weren't any tuner based cars in this test, like back in '98.
Hitting 150 mph is tough. Stopping from 150 mph is even more punishing. Yeah...dumb logic.
Your RS time to 150mph is very off beam, something very wrong there e.g. 19s, my 991.2 GT3 RS does it in just over 16. Should have had the 991 GT2 RS on as well, 0-150mph in about 12s.
It’s crazy how that Turbo S will no problem go over 200 MPH again and again and again!!!

It´s absolutely insane that the Lingenfelter C4 ZR-1 came that close to the C8 Z06! What a beast that car would have been back in the day!
Not only that it still beats a GT3 RS, about 25 years later. That’s insane!!
There are so many variables that you can't compare 2 different tests even a couple days apart let alone in a different location, elevation, etc. The Lingenfelter was quick but by no means would it keep up with a C8 Z06. I've had the honor of driving both for extended periods- I have a neighbor with a spending problem. The problem is he can't outspend his bank account!
The ZR1 in that test had a fully built 415 stroker motor, gears etc. So don't confuse it with the OEM ZR1.
Its not that hard to imagine at all. Could take a detuned nascar v8 from the 90's and have a faster car. Just look how well 90's civics do at all racing events despite small displacement.
Those original tests were only 0-100-0 not 0-150-0 tho, or am I crazy?
watching that Turbo S going for 200 was like watching Top Gun Maverick trying to reach mach 10
Desire, respect, fear, and acceptance of what may be lol. Worth it.
Interesting days when you can bring an Elantra to a 0-150-0 speed test.
I know right.. And a boxy EV Kia
Yeah thing was impressive for hyaundai
Unfortunately they didn't bring the even quicker DCT version. It would have shaved some time off it's final numbers.
Especially when it beats a civic type r in this test
And a Civic too
A few of these cars impressed me by even hitting 150 mph in the first place.
Which ones?
Let me guess the hyundai surprised you 🤦🏽♂️
😂
@@lmc333 The Civic, Hyundai and the Kia. I would think that the Hyundai and Kia would be electronically limited to a lower speed and the Civic would struggle to reach 150 mph since it’s not designed for high speed but more for road courses with shorter gearing.
I’ll take any of these cars. I’ve got a solid vehicle, but it’s a family hauler. I want fun, but my motorcycle will have to fill that void for now.

The fact that the GT3 RS goes this fast with such "little" power and this huge wing is insane
Porsche obviously lightened the car up way more than the others, put racing tech in there. It is a street legal race car. It's no surprise.
They make Moto 3 single cylinder 250 cc does 150 and some other similar bikes
@@Northanteus "no surprise" - it's very impressive regardless
@@Northanteus Honestly it's more impressive with the "racing tech". That wing will be slowing it's acceleration massively at 150mph.
@@B__L If GM chooses to strip all of the daily convenience technology out of the C8 Corvette to lighten the car up by a lot, throw a much bigger wing on the back, with more down force design in the front and on the side, put all the race technology in there, etc. It'd be faster than the gt3rs on the track, no problem. GM wanted to give people a car that they can comfortably daily drive on the street, with convenience, or go cross country and then take it to the track for fun. This is not the same mindset Porsche had for the gt3rs. It's comparing apples to oranges. Don't do that. This is my point.
The Dark Horse out-braking the Porsche 911 Turbo S and Z06 shows that Ford was kinda serious about this $60,000 machine... Impressive. The GTD *might* be something to pay attention to.
60k ? You nuts? Check that price again

Watching the Lucid's speedo, I'm thinking "that must be kph." Nope. Insane
Mind bending numbers. 😵💫
Too be fair it was going downhill
@@spencer927 I don't think that matters too much in the case of the Lucid
@@spencer927 It would maybe reduce its time by 0.5 seconds MAX so it doesn't matter really. Wasn't a conclusive test but a 3 second+ difference can't be made back with stuff like slightly downhill headwind etc.
I was thinking the same thing. I was like where are they?
Crazy to think that an F1 car can brake from 200mph to 0 in less than 4 seconds.
Weight of a atv and brakes bigger than wheels on cars were 15 years ago why is that surprising
@@ej2civicb736 at 200mph the aerodynamic braking force decelerates a F1 car without touching the brake pedal at higar rate than any of these cars slamming on the brakes.
The massive balls of the F1 drivers scrub the asphalte to both add some mechanical grip and energy dissipation during braking
Jonathan Palmer came to talk where I worked. He used to test the F1 McLarens of Senna and Prost. He said under hard braking he used to get tiny drops of moisture on the inside of his race helmet visor. It was negative G pulling moisture from his eye balls.
Don't want to disappoint you, but it's 0-200 KM/H in under 4sec. ;-)

@@leeboo2521 as it is a good car, 170k is really steep for a corvette lmao. thats 911 gts/turbo money, I couldnt bring myself to spend that on a corvette
It's the ultimate sleeper and old man car. I'm 53 and have a ctsv so I know. Mine isn't the v3 or blackwing though.
Too bad it looks like a Nissan
Also it's rwd, the fact that it does what it does with power going only to the rear wheels is just one hell of a car.

Corvette Z06 truly a supercar without the excessive cost. 114k vs 223k gt3 RS vs 216k Turbo S 911.
Absolute value for money for ultimate performance levels.
Yep even optioned out it’s about $150k vs $285k vs $265k. Sorry but I can’t see the 120 grand increase in performance for the turbo s or 135 for the RS. At that point I can get another badass daily like the ct5 bw, m5 comp, e63s, redeye charger, etc…with a couple grand left over for some minor bolt ons. This isn’t even factoring in markup. I’ve seen the z06 on sale for 250-300 and the rs for 450-600k 😳
True price wise but, the C8 ZO6, GT3 RS and Turbo S are in different lanes. We own both the C8 ZO6 and Turbo S and the difference on track is staggering. I'm ok with the difference on track because the Turbo S was purchased to handle daily, and cross-country travels through all types of weather without a hiccup. Our C8 ZO6 and C7 ZO6 handle track and daily street duty with the occasional long-distance travel. I don't own but have driven the GT3 not RS version on track and street. On track the vehicle is outstanding. On the street not so much.
Sure money wise it’s a good price point for what you’re getting. But my guess is you’ve never been in one, they ride rough as can be, as they should be in a track spec car. But truthfully I’ll just buy a proper track car for that price and runs laps around it. Cool car but useless at everything. Want a road car? Buy one. Want a track car. Buy one. Crossover into both is a compromise in each area. Daily I’d take a Turbo S. track car for that money a cup car or maybe an open wheel alll will absolutely completely destroy that vette. So potato potato. It’s the things people don’t think about or have actually done. Your response is common. So I know you’ve never been in a real track car or spent much time on an actual race track. Not being a dick but it’s fact for most people out there.
Z06 are getting close to MSRP, 10k over is not unheard of now and dropping fast.@@johncena-hq1ti
The Corvette looks like a Walmart supercar. They were late to the mid-engine game and the design already looked dated when it was new. Let's not forget that they had to reverse engineer a Ferrari 458 motor to develop their flat plane crank V8. Don't even get me started on the Z06 interior. The Porsche is timeless and built to the highest quality.
That turbo S is crazy! Also, I'm very impressed that the Mustang was able to out brake both the Z06 and 911 Turbo S.
Yet a few seconds slower than the two big name electrics.

What a freaking MILESTONE of humanity kind of statement to end the video on guys! 😮 Loved it!
The current M5 competition should have been invited. I have a '20 and the car is an absolute missile, it also brakes like you've thrown two or three anchors out the back.
My thoughts exactly
There are many cars they could have included. But I'm guessing they couldn't find any suppliers (or private individuals) willing to send them such cars : BMW. Lamborghini. Audi. Ferrari. AMG. Koenigsegg. McLaren. The list goes on.
@@chillout1109agree. But the list was good enough for me. I didn’t need to see any lambo, or Ferrari or Nissan or BMWs. They wouldn’t have made a difference compared to the Porsche lol. Let’s just be honest. Oops did i forget Mclaren?😂
Why there is no x drive m4 or m3 too….
Exactly. This test was pointless without any M cars.
Great video. Amazing that the 1994 Lingenfelter ZR-1 is still a badass.

Seriously!
Can't argue w/the Turbo S! Great in straight line, good on the track, as usable a backseat as you'll find in a supercar, doesn't look obnoxious like the GT3 RS, & the AWD makes it usable in any whether. 2nd I'd go w/the C8 Z06 ❤
I don't want backseats on a supercar it's a sports car not supercar
Well stated. Traded from 992 S to Turbo S. The Turbo serves as our daily and long country travels. The ZO6 (C8) shares track duty with the ZO6 (C7) version. The GT3 RS is just too hard core for me in MHO. The C8 ZO6 without a doubt is the Swiss Army knife of sport cars. Track, daily and country travelling. Still for everyday usability it stands behind our Turbo S.
@chiragnegi6276 🤣 IDK 🤷🏿♂️ what it is about the TurboS (particularly this 992 generation) that makes ppl real nitpicky about it. W/the lightweight package it does a 9sec 1/2mile... Throw Cup2 or Cup2Rs & you'd easily have a Sub 7min Nurburgring Time, does 0-60 in 2.4secs repeatedly, reliable AF, is a jack of all trades... Yet, "It's a Grand Tourer"... "It's a Sports Car"... while simultaneously matching or beating out other SuperCars of the times over the years from 997, 991, 992 generations😂 The M2 SC is a Sports Car, The GT3 Touring is a Sports Cars, The AMG GTS is a Sports Cars, The C8 Stingray is a Sports Car... a TurboS is in a completely different league. But hey, to each their own 👍

As soon as the turn come, EV's are gone.
And I highly doubt that you would launch your car constantly, which is basically the main and only thing in EV and TurboS.
Otherwise you wouldn't use 650hp on a street, and you could have way more fun in a proper interesting cars.
Calling faceless silent boring overpowered road car masterpiece is not even extension, Idk what it is.
We own both and the interior IMHO is fantastic. Our Turbo S shares daily duties with the ZO6. Long distance travels belong to the Turbo S. It is that comfortable.
Absolutely blown away by the sheer diversity and performance of the cars in this test! It's a golden era for car enthusiasts. From the raw power of the Lucid's insane speed to the surprising agility of the Bentley Continental, each car brings something unique to the table. But here's a thought - with the rise of EVs and their impressive performance metrics, do you think traditional supercars are facing serious competition? #CarLoversDebate 🏎⚡
people often compare electric cars vs other electric cars. For now, it should be comparing electric cars to their gas equivalents. "for this much money, what does the EV give and what does the gas do?" I would say we are *just* reaching that point. as EV's start to overtake gas cars in value for performance, they will continuously grow as the desire for growling V8's fades with the newer generation.
There is much logic to your statement however, we have people that purchase vehicles for a great amount of money for optics vice performance. There is no doubt a Lucid or Tesla can beat most supercars however, I just want a Ferrari sitting in my garage mentality is still at play.
@@h20dancing18it’s a beautiful time when you can buy what probably is the peak combustion engine cars, and next gen EVs at the same time
EV's have a long ways to go to be considered true performance cars because of their weight. They have incredible acceleration but thats about it. Handling and braking is garbage compared to other performance sedans like the blackwing or m5. Shave 1,000 lbs off them and give them 6 piston caliper brakes and I'll be interested. Until then I'll just stick with my 18 CTS-v.
@@OldsLSSL67 for most EVs I totally agree. There are plenty of promising (and plenty of not promising) battery chemistries and manufacturing techniques that promise to bring the weight down. Will have to wait and see.

The Tesla S Plaid should be tested with the new OEM track pack installed.
We agree.
I am glad that they still tested the Plaid and Sapphire, despite the asterisks. It would have been a crime to not include them. However I don't agree that real conclusions about the winners can't be drawn. Because regardless of the conditions, those two EVs would certainly have better 0-150-0 times than all of the others in this pack of contenders. Especially if you added the Track Package to the Plaid.
@@deanmcmanis9398 If they are testing "cars" then you can't really include them. They are ipads on wheels or RC's...

What’s the little circle mean??
People really need to give the Z06 the credit it deserves. All I ever see is people praising Porsche. Look at what the Z06 is doing while being 100K cheaper. N/A V8, brakes well, second fastest to 150, handles great. It is undoubtedly the best on track performance bargain amongst this group
I admit I'm a Mustang fan. Was impressive it kept up and beat many of these way more expensive cars. Back in the day I did get my relatively stock 86 Fox body to about 150. With 9" disks and drums in the back without any ABS stopping took me almost as long as accellerating. I coasted a long time before even considering using my brakes. Gently slowing from 80 to 65 or so...Any of these cars could not only smoke my old 5.0 LX even after I modified with nitrous. But far outbrake and outhandle it...I look forward to getting a newer Mustang GT and just having some fun with it. No more top speed runs for me.
Great Idea! I own a 2014 Mustang GT (first year of gen. 6) and the price-performance ratio is truly impressiv. Also the Sound of the V8 is one of the best of its class^^
Would be really cool to know the Plaid time with track package considering it would still be one of the cheapest.
It would give a little bit quicker time, but it may not reach the Saphire time.
'It's highly unlikely that an internal combustion car could come out on top, ever again.'
Yes, for what they lack in character, they more than make up for in sheer speed... and there really is something delightful about the way a good high performance EV effortlessly accelerates.
You have to experience it to understand what I mean.

@@maximborodyuk3773 Maybe, but its addicting and I test drove a new Porsche a few weeks back and its weak sauce. Tesla will be getting another $100k+ from me soon as there is nothing else that can match it.
18:21 $4,000 Aria full carbon fiber helmet spotted, nice! Excellent video and the C8 Z06 sounds the best!
The 992 Turbo S is incredibly fast, and incredibly easy to drive fast. And it won this contest with normal summer tires, not Cup 2 ot Trofeo R track day tires.
Love how the Turbo S can consecutively run 200+ mph all day and still pick up groceries and drive it home at the end of the day.
I think the Shelby Cobra was king of the 0-100-0 test being the only car that did it in less than 10 seconds. Those numbers still impressive in today's numbers.
Yeah I'm wondering what a 2023 GT500 would do in this test. That car pulls so hard on the top end.
@@sean9267it would get beaten by the Z06 purely because of engine position. I think Edmunds did a drag race between them and the GT500 could barely even pull against the Z06 at high speeds
I think that time is a bit optimistic: C&D did an official test at about 14.5 seconds.
Legendary Ken Miles was reported to have done it in 13.8 seconds so I’m thinking 10 seconds is still a bit of a myth
If memory serves, the late 60s 427 Chevy Corvette Stingray was the only car that even came close at 14.8?
And remember this was over 50 years ago, back before a lot of electronic injection and other performance parts existed!
Car Company Execs: Make it fast!
Engineers in the 60s: Hold my beer!
The C4 Lingenfelter is still impressive, 30 years later. I used to dream of that car daily!
just started the video ill deff take the gt3 rs to go along side the b7 rs4 in the driveway 100% thanks for video :-) now ill watch
Wow this really opens a new perspective for me.
As easy as it seemed for the TS to reach 200, I would be sweating profusely watching how quickly the turf at the end of the runway was approaching and the reaper along with it!
The "I'll get to 200 even if I have to brake into the trees" school of thought :)
That was a nice 911 Turbo , dk green w/ dk burgundy interior . Pretty sweet ride 👍
Z06 type of guy. However
yes Turbo S is a cool car
Every car here was pretty dope
Superman's company car is definitely a 911 Turbo S
I am obsessed with the Z06. I'm so glad it's getting the recognition and hype.
I literally remember buying that first Car & Driver 0-150-0 magazine
Reasons I love the 911 Turbo S... It's one of the fastest, best handling, year round usable and amazing cars on the market. Punching far above its weight and one of the greatest 911's on the planet. I miss mines
I traded up from a Carrera to Turbo S. Both great cars however, it cannot compete on a track vs our C8 ZO6. I'm ok with that. The Turbo was purchased as a daily and long-distance cruiser. The C8 ZO6 and C7 ZO6 share track duty days.
@@ronretired Tracking the Turbo S doable, I have a friend with one. He's done the whole 3RS suspension setup with the Turbo S dampers. It's a great mix of performance but skews away from the Turbo's general purpose. Previously owned a C6Z with a full LG suspension and JTM stage 4 setup. Capable of wild lap times at NJMP and 9sec quarters @141mph on the same Toyo R888R tires. The Vettes remain some of the best bang for the buck you can get. Kudos on the C7 and C8 Zed's
As a Dark Horse owner, I can attest to that braking power. First time I hit them, I felt like the skin on my face was going to rip off. 😅 It took a little getting used to.
That C4 Vette.. amazing
Awesome test. Next year I would like to see some vehicles like the Audi RS6 and a BMW M5 and maybe some others as well. Although the Hyundai, Honda and VW could do the test they really didn’t fit with the rest of the group and same goes for the Bentley SUV. But all in all it was a great test. I would love to see this become a benchmark test
Also in unrestricted top speed the Lucid Air is king of kings, with an independently verified 235 mph (376 km/h).
Rimac Nevera has entered the chat....
for 3 times the price of a plaid with same speed lol
Geez, the next gt500 and even moreso with the GTD are gonna be insane. The s650 is incredible.
The CT5 V is so underrated. Sounded amazing 🫡🫡
Great video, i would have loved to see an acr in the battle as well. Just to see how it does
It took the same amount of distance (about 600 feet) to stop from 200-150 that it did to stop from 150-0 for the 911 Turbo S, but HALF the time (2.6-2.7s vs 5.4s). No fade WHATSOEVER. Those are some DAMN good brakes.
Weird I noticed
Thanks for the 0-150! Loved it! So different than the rest. 150 in an insane speed. Maybe next episode 0-175? LOL!
I appreciated the higher 150 MPH speed. On my morning drive to work it's not uncommon to hit 95 MPH in my Heavy Duty truck.
3058'! Anyone else find it extremely satisfying that the Corvette's from 25 years apart had the exact same overall 0-150-0 distance?
Mentally sharp coach whether he’s the future or not. Seems like a Good man..
"Don't think an internal combustion engine can ever come out on top again."
Sounds ominously true.
Makes me happy to be a c8 z06 owner. Such a capable car!
I'm good with the 911 Turbo, It's always been my favorite car since I was a lot younger.quick with top end.
