Hi there, I’m South African and will be emigrating to Mexico very soon. The VW Fox was a late 80’s/ early 90’s version of the Jetta and had a Mk1 golf front end with single or dual front Mk1 front end. The original Jetta was sold in South Africa with a Euro front end till 1984. In Mexico the Mk1 Jetta is either called an Atlantic or an Atlas.

you should do a head light relay kit , way better lighting to be had. Makes a huge difference at night

Car looks killer, and those GLI recaros fit it so well with the blue thing you have going on. Sorry, but double headlights are way cooler, they simply look most masculine; single lamps accentuate the "hat" look of the body. I never thought one could paint the trims when I owned mine back in early 2000's! I use to armor all every week to keep up with the fading :/

The mk1 Jetta(euro spec) was sold here in South Africa as a Jetta but when the Mk2 was interduces, the mk1 golf became the citi golf and the Jetta become the fox. The citi golf carried on till 2004 but unfortunately the fox didnt live long and was dropped in the late 90s. I have a 82 mk1 lemon yellow jetta

    Just a little correction...
South African owner of a 1983 Jetta GLS. Which my dad bought new of the showroom floor nearly 40 years ago.
A Fox is a Fox, and a Jetta is a Jetta. We had both in SA, differentiated by the headlights and grille mostly.
If you have rectangular headlights (the European style) you have a Jetta. If you have round headlights (CiTi golf style, of which you get both single and double) you have a Fox.
I get so annoyed when people call my car a Fox, when it clearly isn't. Foxes were built from surplus Jetta chassis, so they are essentially the same thing, but they weren't initially sold as a Fox in SA.

Yes the heat gun trick does work well on the textured plastics. I'm a cheap ass so I used to use black kiwi shoe polish on all my mk1/ mk2/ rocco/ B3. Works extremely well and has the applicator built in to the bottle. If you want another great product for the plastics check out Forever Black. Has a similar applicator like the kiwi bottle and works amazing. The Mother's Back to Black is garbage and doesn't last at all. The only other alternative is a good trim black paint. SEM makes my favorite 'Trim Black.' Nice Euro setup, looks so much better than the US stuff. Tucked bumpers FTW when you don't have access to the Euro ones. I'm a BMW guy as well and we do the same on our e12/ e23/ e28 and e30's. Drilling the bumper pistons and driving up to a wall works wonders 😁👍💪 Now you just need to use some VHT Nightshades on the front turns for a light smoke to match the rear tails. Easy to wetsand the lights, tint and then clear after. Done dozens of sets this way and they last and look professional when prepped correctly. Lamin-x also makes smoked film that works well and also protects the lights at the same time from stone chips. I've used the 32mil thick version on countless sets of E-codes/ Hella's/ fogs, etc. Great product worth mentioning for anyone interested. Definitely a sick mk1. Would be amazing with an ALH swap.😉

Oy vey...I'm in West Africa and we're hard pressed to hit 30 right now.
The Jetta was sold as such in SA for the early cars and then went to being a Fox after they dropped the TV lights and went to the single rounds. Now some of those parts are very cool. Think mk2 big bumper plate tubs but for a mk1. And the bumpers and front spoiler are also very cool.
    Enjoy that heat

OMG I see the Sentra resemblence lol! I can't tell you how much you have turned this car around with just some careful planning and elbow grease. It's a huge transformation from when you first bought it. Fan of this car for sure! Best part is you could prolly drive this car anywhere! I forgot, does this have A/C?

Hot as hell this week here in the Lower Mainland. I can only imaging what those shop clogs smell like R. XD I've been waiting to see you do this to the rear bumper for ever and it does not disappoint and the Euro light conversion just brings style to the car. Well done...Can't wait to see it at the next cruise.
