I had one just like it inthe early 90s,loved it ! I wish I still had it.
Love it. I’m doing it in my Mk1 Jetta next week, thanks for the tip!
Lolololol I was doing work on my first car in high school and found the exact same key magnet hidden next to the radiator.
That made a big difference on the look of the car. Looks awesome I'm definitely going to try that on my rabbit before I buy euro bumpers great tips much appreciated
Awesome, ya its a great little cheap mod and will same you considerable funds that for sure. Money that could be used for even more mods! Hahaha, gotta stretch those budgets! In person it looks even better. Thanks for watching! Appreciate the comments as always!! Cheers!!
the car is in really good hands!!
Hahaha Thank you, yes it is... This car will be a lot of fun that's for sure! Stay tuned for lots more! Cheers
All my German cars over the years from my Scirocco to my Mercedes convertible to this Audi I bought recently a fox all of them have had to deal with getting the European headlights from Europe and the European bumpers. The Scirocco I'm sure glad I bought those when they were available cuz they're like all gone 1984. European headlights for that Jetta or one big rectangle those look pretty sweet I'm sure you can go to eBay just click the advanced search and then click on worldwide search and you can find European headlights for it the real ones then you can put the LED small bulb in the parking light inside the headlight and they look pretty sweet and they're bright and a 10 SI alternator I've heard is a good idea for old Volkswagens no one wire gm.
Volkswagen heritage uk maybe has it. some sellers call an oil refill an overhaul so do what you need to do.
I'm picking up a beater MK1 Jetta to daily to preserve my clean MK3, it needs this badly. It needs a lot of work, but this is probably going to be the first mod.
Sweet first mod.
Thank you, appreciate that!! Cheers
Thank so much for this! Just did the bumpers on my Cabriolet this weekend, what a difference!!
Nice vid Ry! The Red Rabbit has so much more gravity to the build, as in I want perfection and the job done right.....because the build is so cool and your skill set and creativity is a huge factor entertainment wise. Somehow the few hours of your energy and a 12 dollar can of paint was just as inspirational! Cant wait to see whats next this Wednesday and next Sunday! Love it
Thank you very much!! This channel has been a fun evolution with so much more in store! Appreciate the comments, Thank you and thank you so much for watching, Appreciate all the support!! Cheers!!
Amazing job
Thank you Thank you! Thanks for watching!!
Good job!! My 84 rabbit has solid mounts, no shocks. Had the mounts cut and shortened about 3" and POR'd to prevent rust. Looks Hella good now. Not gonna run a front plate tho...
Nice!! Ya where i live, they are sticky about the front plates. Love to go without but not sure id last long until a warning but ill give it a shot lol! Thanks so much for the watch! Appreciate your build info too!! Awesome!!
Well I work for CPD so I'm not worried about the front plate on the Vdub. My regular car does have a front plate. Lol
Keep up the good vids..
No more rust work on stepchild!!! Sweet .. let’s see you throw some of them awesome parts you got on there !
Haha YESS, getting closer for sure!! Looking forward to it myself! Cheers!!
It looks so much more beautiful and sleek, the coilies and a nice rim will make it look that much better. Great Sunday Watch bro 💪
OHHH YEESSS! Soon soon, that's for sure! Thank you!! Really appreciate the engagement as always!! Thanks for watching!! Cheers!!
I'll be doing this very soon to my Jetta. Thanks for the inspiration.
Absolutely!!! Good luck with the mod! Thanks for watching!! Cheers
Looking good. Yeah a bumper tuck is a good look. I may have to do this on my Rabbit in the future.
Yes do it, youll love it! Not a ton of work but huge results for the trained eye! Thanks for the comments as always!!
Big difference, it looks so much better, I like👍🏻
Thank you!! I totally agree! Appreciate the comments as always, thanks for watching!!
Looks great. I'm drawn to the gap under the grille where (I'm assuming) the rearmost part of the spacer cover butted up. Could you slice it up and maybe tuck it under the top of the bumper, or perhaps paint that spot black? Just a thought on my end.
Hey thanks for the comments, Yes, you (or I) absolutely could, both are options, i think i would choose the paint route though just because keeping that cover in my opinion would be a tough squeeze and would kinda look very busy. Im a simple is best kinda guy and actually prefer the way it looks now, similar to what you see on a rabbit; slight colour before the bumper. But to each there own for sure and totally understand what your getting at! With some more fittling I'm sure it could be dialed in even more!! Appreciate the comments as always and thanks so much for watching!! Cheers!!
Sorry I’m behind on this video. Could you just drill the shock while still mounted to the car?
12 bucks well spent👍👍👍never knew it had those hydraulic shock absorbers in the bumper🤔🤔🤔...our spec never had those but interesting 👍👍👍
Ya unfortunately ended with some seriously ugly bumpers, but we sorted that LOL! Thanks for the comments, really appreciate the watch as always!!
Beauty eh?
curious what are those tires on the Jetta - a winter tread?
Your vest needs to be a merch item.
Hahaha ya a serious winter tire! Going to be changing up the tire and wheel game very soon. Hahaha ya the vests are all fun! I should!! Thanks for the watch!! Appreciate the comments as always!!
can you do the same with the rear?
That is an easy modification and it looks good in my case leave the plastic on top #caribegtbergcup
Absolutely! Could do that too!! I perfer the simple is more look, but thats me! Glad you like it. Again thanks for the comments, appreciate the engagement! Cheers!!
I wouldnt even bother with euro bumpers, that looks perfect as it is !
These are making me miss my mk1 GLIs so much
A front spliter from gti looks badass on jettas ... just saying
Hahaha thanks! Ya you know what I agree whole heartedly. Ill put my bumper money into headlight sway instead, i love the euro headlights!! Thanks for the comments, really appreciate it!! Cheers!!
@@MysteryGarage id say thats the right plan ! Keep up the stellar work !
The 80's in North America were not kind to all those beautiful european bodylines. It was like they put park benches on the front and back of your car. I wish I saw this hack when I had my 82 Scirocco...what trim paint are you using? I use to like the SEM 'trim black' myself but I'm sure there's a few more options nowadays...
Thank you very much! Ya used Duplicolour "Trim Black" paint, really nice stuff. Park benches for sure hahaha. Cheers! Thanks for the support as always!!
Quick question, can I do the same to the rear bumper?
OMG this looks amazing. Worth the $12 to just reduce the amount of weight hanging so far out from the front wheels.
Hahaha all the weight reductions!! While i doubt any performance improvements, Definitely cleans up the look of the car and prevents anyone from taking a nap on my front bumper in the future hahaha. Thanks for the comments as always! Cheers!!
@@MysteryGarage Btw, did you use spray paint for plastic on the bumper or something else?
Ya Dupli-colour Black Trim Paint
So hawt. Man that looks good, might have to do that on my mk1 coupe. What about the rear? Just need to plug up the holes.
Hahahah Thank you!! Appreciate the comments very much!! Yes do it!! Makes sure a difference! Thanks so much for watching!!
@@MysteryGarage For sure. If you ever decide to tuck the rear bumpers. Would love to see how you go about it.
@@json8172 100% happening
@@MysteryGarage Hell yah. Flush Hole Covers/Panel Plugs was what I was thinking about using for the trim holes. ( Was gonna go euro bumpers but this looks better ) Cant wait to see what you do.
What size tires do you have?
195/45-15’s I think… I’ll have to follow up on that. Thanks for watching, appreciate the support. Cheers
I always thought those bumper regulations were an attempt to reduce European import when sales on the domestic market went down in North America. In this video it was for me to have a better look at your 'klompen'. I wondered how you managed to walk on them so silently, but they are rubber, aren't they?
Hahaha ya keen eye. These ones sure are! And probably the best footwear I own for the shop 👌Wear them everywhere to be honest. These ones are starting to get tired, need to invest in some new ones! Thanks for watching! Appreciate the comments, cheers!!
@@MysteryGarage well, if you ever want some real wooden ones, hit me up! I live in the land of klompen and windmolens. They protect your feet as well when you accidentally drop something heavy in the workshop.
@@PieterKuijk 100% my old wooden ones split. Would love another pair!!
@@MysteryGarage sent you a message via your website!
@@PieterKuijk responded! Cheers
What is your process for painting the bumper? And what paint do you use?
Thanks for the comments. Ya pretty simple stuff, just scuff the whole bumper lightly with scotchbrite pad, then spray, 3 light coats and thats it. I used Dupli-colour "Trim" paint on these, colour prides itself on being an OEM black trim colour as it should look from new! Thanks again, good luck with yours and thanks for watching! Cheers!!
@@MysteryGarage thanks!
