- Moza has two optional accessories for the ES Rim, a Formula Mod and a 12 Inch Round Mod. I take a look at them and see if they do the job!

Clear and concise. Also note that when turning, mass is not the thing to pay attention to; it's the moment of inertia. Since the 12in wheel is larger in diameter, its mass is located further outward, meaning its moment of inertia is increased. It might be the case that since the larger rim is also lighter, the moment of inertia of both rims could be similar.
This is true - overall weight doesn't tell the whole story, it's just an indication - what matters more is where the weight is on the steering wheel. I don't have the means to measure it so it's all down to the practical results!
I got the Formula Mod alongside my R5 bundle, and I swapped it out immediately and haven't looked back. In my eyes, it gives the R5 the performance you *wouldn't* expect out of a 5nm base. There have been times when I've been whacked by the wheel because I wasn't anticipating the sheer speed of the wheel spinning, and the fidelity you get from having such a small and light wheel is incredible.
It's a real awesome combination and genuinely good enough to race properly with. The new Parabolic Base FFB Curve setting in Pit House is excellent for the R5, too.
😮
Nice clean informative review top marks chap
Ive just ordered the R9 along with the CS V2. I quite fancy getting an ES with the formula mod as a second wheel as Im quite partial to a few laps on F1 23
I love my 12" round wheel. Works really well.
Did the force feedback get weaker
good video but you did say they didnt provide a pit limiter sticker but i doubt there is any need since there is literally a button with the letters PL on them
Can we take a second to appreciate how moza uses a six bolt star pattern leading to us being able to easily use custom wheels
Always nice when a manufacturer sensibly conforms to existing bolt patterns, rather than the other way around
Nice and clear review!
Would you say it may be worth it to buy a second ES wheel + Formula Mod, if one has an R5 and wanted to play both circuit racing games (formula, GT, endurance, etc.) and rally games, plus the likes of Euro Truck Simulator?
One would buy the second ES to simply avoid having to disassemble and reassemble the wheel each time, harnessing the QR-system instead.
Or would it be better to buy just the Formula mod and put the rest of the money towards an RS-wheel, rather than a second ES-wheel, even though the latter is much cheaper?
I’ve gathered from other reviews that the RS-wheel is a tad too heavy for the R5, requiring the torque of the R9 or higher, to get a better experience.
Therefore the RS, plus the far more expensive (but otherwise more suited to the R5’s output) formula/GT wheels, seem like a less cost-effective wheel add-ons than a second ES with a different rim.
However, I’m curious to see where you stand on that.
If you want buttons another ES wheel might be best, but if you don't really need buttons/paddles you could always get an actual wheel and mount it to an NRG/Kyostar/Moza QR and use that as a secondary
It'll all hinge on how often you swap between the two types of driving - it only takes 10 minutes max to swap the mods, so if you were swapping between games every day then you'd get tired of it quickly and it'd make sense to get an extra ES wheel. Otherwise if you're spending weeks at a time between sim styles then it's not the worst thing ever to just swap them over.
It has been requested that Moza sell either the button box and QR separately or the formula and round wheels complete. Might be worth waiting a few months.
@@dannyleeracing As a very busy person, time comes at a premium for me.
And I desire to change the type of game I’m playing on a whim.
Thanks for making the answer clearer for me.
10 min changeover time isn’t much in isolation, but is when you want to swap regularly and have on average 1 hour of daily playtime at most.
@@tver Did you end up buying two? I'm in the same boat as you.
i am looking to get into sim racing now, should I go for G923 or straight go to direct drive like Moza R5? The price is around $120 USD different in my country (Malaysia)
forget logitech
ya, i have decided to save abit longer to get the Moza R9+KS wheel. 😁@@fatihdincer9594
get a moza r3 with bundle or r5 with bundle
You should add a closed caption for the material, it's made of aluminium not steel, hense the lightweight.
Could you please measure the bolt pattern please. I have a 70mm wheel in this bolt pattern and would prefer to buy this wheel setup over just the quick release which is very closely priced in my Country.
It's a 55mm diameter bolt pattern which I don't believe is used on anything else, just the ES
@@dannyleeracing i see thank you for the info. Now I know I have to go with the QR and just center the wheel according to my rim
Is the price difference between the CS and the ES steering wheels worth the extra or should I just go for the cheaper ES rim?
If you're using an R5 base, the ES will be better as it's lighter - If you're using an R9 or above then the CS will be the better option overall as it has a 'standard' 6x70 bolt pattern to which you can attach a wide range of steering wheel rims
@@dannyleeracing can i use the mod on a r9 v2??
And so if I need both a formula and a round wheel, think I should buy two ES? Or is it ok to unscrew the formula to screw the round one when I need so?
I think it's quick enough to just have one ES and swap the rims when needed - it'd only be annoying if you did it multiple times a day. With an electric screwdriver it'd be quick enough!
@@dannyleeracing I checked a video on how to do this and I think the issue i'are the screws on the back that require to remove the shifter extensions. Maybe to be more convenient I should buy two :) and they are less expensive the the other wheels.
Good video. Well done buddy. I was wondering about the 12-inch rim...and you answered my question. So in my opinion not really worth it.
Thanks!
Thanks, man! Yeah, the 12 inch rim is a bit pricey for what it is unless you are hardcore all about the driftin' or rallyin'
@@dannyleeracing I will be getting the KS wheel. Only 1220g. The standard ES wheel is 1500g. So I think the KS wheel will feel just right on the R5. I know it is a bit pricey, but at least I can the keep my ES wheel the way it is. And the KS wheel is on another level. 👌🏻
Boost!
The Moza being not console compatible, wonder why buttons are labelled A, B, X and Y :)
Boost
SLOD = slow down :)
