    I had PM8006, superb 👌 amplifier. I love Marantz sound, so after several years with PM6004 and PM8006, I stepped into KI Ruby. I know, it is a different price category but I got used one for a good price and it is crazy, huge jump up. Paired with Monitor Audio 300 Silver.

    I owned one & paired w/ Klipsch RP 8,000F v1 & Velodyne CHT 10 subwoofer. Source is a vintage Marantz CD player. This integ amp is typical Marantz sound - warm & engaging. This was my 2nd Integ amp. Now, I owned a total of 6 ( integ amp, power amp, tube hybrid & integ tube amp). This hobby is addictive. Thank u for a great review.

    I did all the same research and got an 8006 last year. Brilliant with vinyl. Just upgraded my speakers to AE500s on SolidSteel stands, each with its own REL T Zero so a stereo pair set up using REL hi level cable.
    All my mates bring their old 60s and 70s vinyl round and love the sound stage, the dynamics and the ability to tweak vocals if needed using the midrange control. It’s definitely built to last. I don’t think the volume control has been above 11 o’clock as the speakers are 6 ohm so 85w a channel plus another 100w a channel for each sub.
    Good job I’m in a detached house.

    I've been researching for a while. Must be why your youtube video popped up. The 8006 and the 7000 caught my eye. 😊
    I'm just waiting for b stock or refurbished.
    Vinyl, tape sub, Bingo!
    Yes, a stand-alone dedicated integrated amp to replace my 25 + year old TEAC AG-D9100.
    I went with Sonos for dedicated theater surround. It's amazing.
    Thanks for your video I can stop looking. 👍👍

    Totally agree with you on the issue of price & value. From my neck of the woods, $1.5K is a lot of money! Got my PM8006 due to my bias towards the Marantz brand as I was exposed to the brand earlier in my stereo hobby. My PM8006 is definitely my “end game” as you put it. Regardless of many equally, if not better competing brands, our personal biases (and financial status) do dictate our choices. Nonetheless, I’m very happy and satisfied with the PM8006 musicality. We all buy emotionally … then thereafter justify logically. Our ears will however tell us whether we made a mistake, regardless. I do own a Cambridge CXA61. Which one do I like more? My ears and my pocket tells me … both! Great review! 👍 🎼🥁🎺🎻🎷🎸🎹👂🙏

    I bought my AR11’s in 1977. 4 ohm sensitivity 86 decibels. The Marantz pm8006 the best match for these speakers I have ever had. My Sony psx-5 turntable sounds awesome too! Bought the Marantz before the price increase. Still a great bargain.

    Thanks for this Video! I just bought the PM8006 and ND8006 for a very good price. It replaces an old Yamaha R-N500 which was outdated in terms of network functionality. A pure analogue amplifier was a must since I started again to buy vinyl. The PM8006’s output power is not to compare with the Yamaha. It drives and controls my vintage speakers (Canton Karat 40) like there is no tomorrow. Overall I am really impressed from build quality and sound no matter which source delivers music. BTW the ND8006 can direct play hi-res from iPhone/iPad via USB-DAC input. You only need the USB 3.0 camera adapter and a certified lightning cable. I mention this because it makes my recently bought Topping DX5 obsolete. The ND8006 can decode up to 384khz material which is more than enough for Apple Music or Tidal (max.192KHz). Keep your value work here! Greetings from Switzerland

    I have Focal Aria 936s which are very warm, soft and neutral, so would like an amp to bring them to life, I’ve heard this unit is brighter, clearer and more open?? Any thoughts or feedback on that would be great, thanks!!👍

      @odd-martinnerland75 Před 9 měsíci +2

      I have a PM8006 and Aria 906. I would not say that this amp is bright, but it is a little "extended" in the treble I think, but very pleasant and smooth to listen to. It is also a quite powerful amp, perfect with Aria 906. The 936 has a lot of drivers and a steep impedance dip, so perhaps an even more powerful amp would be a better choice. Model 30 perhaps. Would love to try the 936 though:)

    Great amplifier. I have the PM KI Pearl Lite, PM8005, PM8006, PM7005 and PM14s1 Special Edition. I am big fan of Marantz sound. The build quality of their reference series is TOP class!

  • @RelativeResonance
    @RelativeResonance Před 7 měsíci +1

    the pm8006 is a bit bright / high pitched?
    Id be using my amp a lot, would like to avoid listeners fatigue (I have kef ls50 which are neutral).
    Thats why I backed down from getting the CA cxa81.
    I was strongly considering a second hand hegel h95, but like the idea of analog only so the amp lasts longer.
    Im wondering though, if I use analog inputs of the h95, I avoid the DAC, therefore it should last as long as the pm8006 no?
    I was also interested in the an additional set of speaker level outputs for a sub. makes the integration simpler I think.
    But I just cant get an amp thats analytical / bright / elevated treble. I know I can use the controls, but I think that wouldnt be ideal long term.
    Im researching ab nad c 388 as well if it might be better.

      It's possible that it's too bright with source direct, which shouldn't contribute anything other than pure sound. However, without source direct it has more warmth on the vocals.

  • @HerrFinsternis
    @HerrFinsternis Před 6 měsíci +2

    I really like mine, for many of the reasons you mentioned. Nothing about the sound annoys me, and I like that it is a fully analogue amp with all the connections you could ever need, and well build tonecontrols. Which is what allows me not get annoyed by the sound, I don't have a dedicated room so the amp has to be adjusted to my living conditions. Which it can.
    I paired it with the ND8006 for all the digital connections, which is arguably an ever beter piece of gear.
    I think Marantz hit it out of the park with this series.

  • @Lx655321
    @Lx655321 Před 9 měsíci

    I even not change my DAC that often. I don't need DSD, so my Musical Fidelity V90-DAC lasts me since 2014 and i haven't heard something better since then. MF says it could compete with DAC up to 20 times the price and i believe them. 😁
    edit: I agree, the PM8006 is a great integrated amp. First thing i noticed was how fast (impulsive) and detailed it sounds compared to my old 2270. And it's phono stage also lives up to their promise.

    Thanks for your thoughts. on the PM8006. I ordered the 8006 last week and it should be arriving Tuesday. Three of the reasons I purchased this amp are as follows. Made in Japan. A good phono preamp. and finding a discounted price of $1199. Over the years I've been fortunate when it comes to deals on hi-fi equipment. Saved many thousands on gear by making a few phone calls, surfing hi-fi websites also finding dealers willing to come down some and even a lot on price.

    I was able to compare the MARANTZ PM 8006 and the ARCAM SA20, I chose ARCAM (I have been passionate about ARCAM for 40 years, I have many), and the comparison was the same day, in the same store and on my speakers, ACOUSTIC ENERGY AE309, I immediately noticed that there were similarities between the two amplifiers, I found the ARCAM more energetic and more dynamic, so I chose it even if I admit that the MARANTZ is much more beautiful and certainly better built inside too, it uses very good quality components, like ELNA, NICHICON, and also I saw OMRON, it's very good as components, the ARCAM useful a lot of CMS (surface mounted circuits), components a bit dedicated to digital, I think, time will tell if I was right, my last ARCAM was the A28Fmj, I kept them for eleven years and I sold it again for quite a price, it was in perfect cosmetic and internal condition..

    Hello, last week after many years I changed the speakers, after a lot of research, availability in Argentina and obviously prices, I bought Wharfedale 12.2 and I am very happy listening to them, I have a Polk Audio HTS10 subwoofer and I continue to adjust it as the days goes by, a Loxjie D30 DAC and a NAD 325 amplifier, I already ordered 12 gauge cables (do they need to be oxygen-free??). The seller tells me that the best upgrade would be to change the speakers (he seems like a good guy) but I've had them for 1 week!! I want to listen to them for a couple of years, so a possibility would be to give my beloved, beloved, NAD325 and approximately 800 USD to upgrade to a Marantz PM8005 made in Japan, is it worth the change? Or should I save more and buy another more powerful or higher end one? Thank you very much and greetings!

    before that i used jvc equipment, yamaha ax700 and CA 740, which I still consider great, but marantz pm 8006 is superior to CA, i.e. the quality of components. I bought a marantz pm 8006 used with the manufacturer's warranty and I am very pleased. I was afraid of less power than in CA and yamaha but it's not true because it has a bigger kick than those with more power which is really strange but also great:D Regards and I don't think I will change it until it breaks down :D

    I have a question... in the end, do you think the PM8006 has a phono stage that is on par with entry-level phono stages like the Rega mK3, PRO-JECT Phono Box S2 or Schiit Mani 2? I'm from Brazil and your video was interesting for me to choose PM8006. But I was unsure about the pre-phono stage, as some cartridges require 100-200pF of capacitance and the PM8006 already has 220pF... If the cables are chosen wrong the sound could be terrible! Congratulations on the video... Another thing I didn't understand in the video is something you say, it sounds like "I turned on the color Miranda" at 8:20 minutes into the video.

    pure marketing nonsense "current feedback" , and "custom preamps". while Class-D outperforms everything else today. damping factor 100 is a joke in 2023.
    better buy a class-D pro-amp for the money such as a 1Kw crown XLS pure speaker control.
