I think you overlook a very important point to buying vintage gear it needs to be in top cosmetic condition ,,weather its working or need some repairs . A great sounding and performing reciever for example will drive you crazy while you sit and look at it if it has obvious flaws and damage . its usually no big deal to replace a few components or to even spring for a full refurbishment ,but its not a good investmen if the component is scratched and dented orneeds knobs,face plates, glass replaced . i find pieces on ebay all the time that are cosmetically great ,with all the indicators and lights visibly working that are listed for parts or repair at bargan prices ,and in most cases its been simple cleaning or minor repairs to fix

I had one back in the 80s and I am thinking of picking up one again for my cassette deck as some tapes need a top boost or bass boost.

it has some problem with linux (Ubuntu 22.04) drivers when connected through usb. sometime after 1+ hour of usage my sound stops working randomly ... need to restart my ubuntu ... also unit heats up a lot... need to test it with other connections as well...

I really like your space. My listening room has to also house my antique radios, antique ammo and old books. I need more room! LOL

No, the sound quality of a cassette deck or vinyl record is not as good as a CD or 24 bit wav file. However, that is not the only factor to consider. The fact is, that these archaic formats are simply more fun. And aesthetically pleasing. So I'm with you.

I more like keeping music I can't get streamed on CD. My father kept all kinds of unique dixieland Jazz, and I have all sorts of stuff you just can't find on streaming. CD's add so much to my listening.

I use Vinyl, CDs', streaming and radio.

Also postage costs to get a vinyl from overseas sent to Australia is crazy. I inquired about buying a Magic Shoppe Shoegaze vinyl. The shipping was $72 USD and that equated to about $100 AUD. for 1 Record PLUS the cost of the vinyl!! NOPE!!

The price of vinyl is grotesquely expensive now

Is this better for audio music from device instead of portable Bluetooth speakers ? I have the Bose mini sound link and sound very good but too small. Will this be a better option ? Does the bass is good enough ?

I have a Technics Rs-B965 3 head cassette drck with dbx nr.No need to worry about dynamic range since it is capable of 110 db.

I can tell folks that this little ZA3 will drive a pair of Magnepan LRS+ speakers without breaking a sweat. I turned it up, beyond what I ever listen to, and there was no distortion or clipping. The sound was clear, a little bright, but easily tuned out with the EQ. Midrange was very pleasing, and even a bit meaty and punchy, which was good. Voicing was very clear, and crisp, I really liked that. The bass was a bit overbearing, that needed to be tamed a bit too. An active crossover between the preamp and ZA3 really helped, I split the stereo signal from the preamp at roughly 80hz, sending everything above 80hz to the Maggies, and everything below say 80hz to a pair of REL T-Zero MKIII subs. My only issue with this Class D amp was the overall sound, it is very 2 dimensional, as all Class D amps are, especially with the Maggie LRS+ speakers. But, for the money, these little amps are going to be difficult, if not impossible to beat.

Hello Bruce, I happen to stumble upon your channel and I’m really enjoying your content, and have been binge watching your previous videos. Enjoyed your 10 reasons for enjoying CD playback and my wife and I can agree 100%. We’re both retired and we have been taking turns taking care of each other in alternating health issues and luckily the issues have not come up for us at the same time 😊 My love for hi-fi started with my father who would build his mono tube gear through Heathkit’s and some of his own designs and built a University corner horn from scratch.🥰 I continue the Legacy with numerous Heathkits projects, including hi-fi kits until the company folded. My girlfriend (wife now) and I purchased most of our hi-fi gear back in the 70’s, which we still own and use to this day with the exception of some later CD players and a turntable here and there and WiiM streamers and up-to-date DACs Thank you again for a wonderful channel for us to enjoy and it brings back a lot of great memories!

I bought this amp and the trigger port is so loose the 3.5mm 12v cable will not stay connected. The addition of a trigger is the reason I bought it so I will probably be returning it.
