Well done, a reviewer who admits this thing does NOT DO DSD!!!!!

Hi, great, thorough review. Enjoyed how you went through specs, impressions and going through different aspects. Thanks for the review!🎉

The EF400 has more of a traditional R2R sound, being very rich and warm. The EF600 is wider, more detailed, and more on the neutral side with sparkly detail up top and some mid-forwardness. The former is my preference by a country mile. If you prefer warm, you will likely agree.

Thanks for the great review ! Does it offer a bigger / more airy type of soundstage ?

Been waiting for someone to review this. There's a ton of EF400 reviews, but hardly any of these. I know this AMP/DAC just came out, but you'd think it be more popular since its predecessor is.

Great to finally see a review of the EF600, I've been very curious about it. I'll probably order it soon. One question though, do both of the headphone outputs work at the same time, meaning can I have two different headphones plugged in the XLR and 6.3mm port? Also, did you notice any channel imbalance with the volume knob?

Yes you can connect 2 sets of headphones at the same time. No imbalance that i could tell

I got volume imbalance at very low volume, say 5%. Disappeared when I cranked it up - non issue for me

Can you connect the EF600's preouts to the SMSL VMV A1 (class A) power amplifier? The VMV A1 has a volume knob, so you can regulate volume, and as I understand the EF600 has no volume control on the outputs. Would it be possible to connect those two?

That looks like an awesome product. I listen to headphones 2-3 times a year so it's probably not for me. I do have two Sabaj A10h headphone amps that I use in tape monitor loops on two vintage systems as remote volume controls. I haven't even tried them with headphones. LOL
