@@Morpheus-pt3wq Other driver should've done a multi-point turn rather than reversing, and corrected course after the fact. Much safer. Two lanes is enough space to maneuver for a regular vehicle. Cammer definitely should not have encouraged reversing, even at a slow-speed parking lot intersection like this one.
I hate to say it, but it was to be expected at L.L. Bean. Home of the entitled. Certain stores attract a large number of certain types of people. There are several stores in my area where you could set up a camera and get tons of footage for these videos.

Insurance companies may try to place partial blame for "not trying to stop." Happened to me - someone turned left from the middle lane. I got 10% fault for "not trying to make a stop." Only because I didn't hit the brakes hard enough while laying on the horn.
@@MultiNerve It´s quite understandable, actually. Horn is to be used to avoid imminent danger - however once the danger already IS unavoidable, the driver should take care of his own well-being & property first - aka brake, swerve, do everything in your power to avoid the crash.
Horn isn´t some magical flute, which will blow the traffic away. And yet too many drivers are using it that way.
I don´t use my horn... almost at all.
@@Morpheus-pt3wq You should almost never swerve to avoid a crash. If you do so and hit someone else, you'll be liable for that collision for failing to maintain lane. And if you avoid the initial crash, the other driver gets off scot-free. Brake, and move *if* you know for a fact you have clearance, but if there's the tiniest doubt maintain your course. A frontal collision will cause less damage to your own vehicle too in most cases, due to the bumper protecting you.

If you enjoy these videos, use them as learning opportunities, and not just entertainment. Drive cautiously and predictably. Try to recognize patterns and car "body language" of drivers around you. Look for people darting in and out of slowed/stopped multi-lane roads. Not saying that'll prevent a determined idiot from slamming into you, but it may help improve your chances of avoidance.
A lady didn't yield to me a few months ago. Thankfully I was paying very close attention to her. But I still want to get a much louder horn! 😂

I'm a fellow motorcyclist, as well. I enjoy the ride, and do my best to go with the flow of traffic and not be a squid. I shake my head when I see absolute yobbos putting themselves and everyone around them in danger because they want to show off or cut through traffic.@@mikewilhelmson8413

Never be on the inside when an truck is turning period. Following is fine, just don't be to the inside of their turn.
Here in the UK you are told to never put yourself in that position.
A large vehicle's rear end will cut the corner and if you are there, you have no escape.

NEVER stop in the middle of the road. That pedestrian was not in a crosswalk and wasn't even crossing - they were waiting for it to be safe to improperly cross. Stop trying to be "helpful"... 4:09
There was a designated crosswalk at the intersection, you can see the sign on the right at 4:04-ish, and, at least in Minnesota, you are required by law to stop for pedestrians waiting at marked crosswalks. However, I can't tell if there was a marked crosswalk on the side of the road that he was on, but there definitely was where the driver stopped. This looks like California. I copied this from the California driver handbook: "A crosswalk is the part of the road set aside for pedestrians to safely cross the road. They are often marked with white lines. School crossings may have yellow crosswalk lines. Not all crosswalks are marked. Pedestrians have the right-of-way in marked or unmarked crosswalks. If there is a limit line before the crosswalk, stop at the limit line and allow pedestrians to cross the street." So it seems the cammer was correct to stop.

Gee, that could have killed a man and woman expecting a child soon, or hey that guy could have paralyzed a single income provider. 3:17 - the other truck was turning left, they are liable. The cam car had literally 2-3 seconds to react before impact and that is just not a reasonable expectation. The other truck is at fault.
You ever count 2 to 3 seconds? In driving that's an eternity. Guy with the camera was distracted or dead or both. Not the cammer's fault but avoiding that was pretty easy.

@@sarcasticguy43112 to 3 seconds is the distance at which you're supposed to follow another vehicle moving the same direction to give yourself sufficient reaction time if the other vehicle brakes suddenly. It is not sufficient reaction time if an essentially stationary obstacle that wasn't there before ends up in your path (such as another driver making an illegal turn).

Nah cammers are usually the aggressive drivers but I can't buy that. Judging by the car up ahead he isn't speeding excessively, and by counting frames there was just a little over a second between the car pulling out and cammer passing the driveway. The cammer also didn't start speeding up until well after that point, you can hear it.
With human reaction times ranging from 0.4 to 0.6 seconds, that is just not enough distance to stop. Would have been a crash if he has slammed on the brakes unless the other person really floored it, and you can't count on that. Instead he held control very well through the swerve.

@@panzerfaust5046 What??? Have you ever taken any sort of defensive driving course? That's what happens when you are forced to swerve at speed. The tires make noise and the body rolls. That's the whole point of the moose test, to ensure that in that exact situation, the car will not fail the driver.
The car and driver both passed their tests. Had the driver slammed the brakes 0.5 seconds after the other car started to pull out, it would have been a nasty crash. Instead it was not. The driver handled it perfectly.

And you can see the Hyundai apologized when he flashed his hazards. Some of it was the Hyundai's fault and the other was short ramp design, I feel bad for him.
There wouldn't be any need to pass on the right if slower vehicles stayed to right like they're supposed to. More often then not, the right lane is completely empty, while lanes to the left are jammed up bumper to bumper because some clueless idiot won't yield to faster traffic.

At 1:50, where the driver loses a wheel & keeps driving, was likely drunk, knew it, and realized that stopping meant a DUI.
3:59 kind as you wanted to be, it was more dangerous to stop as the road looks like a fairly express road through town, and there were no traffic lights either to control traffic. The fault may officially be on the driver who rear ended you, but in reality you caused the accident by not properly paying attention to the road conditions

The driver who was hit was 100% at fault, you need your license taken away if you think that the car had to stop just because they were in the middle of the road. Should they stop? YES. Do they HAVE to? NO!
@@tristanford4640 First off, in my jurisdiction (and many others) it would be ticket to not stop there, that would be classified as an unmarked crosswalk.
What's even more wild though is that THERE IS A CROSSWALK RIGHT THERE, ya numpty. The person behind can't see that there isn't a person in it. Every driver on this road also needs to be aware that the cars in front of them could stop at that exact spot, because (try to keep with me here), IT IS A CROSSWALK. CARS ARE KNOWN TO STOP NEAR THEM.
Brake checking or stopping on a freeway are one thing. This is not that. I checked the intersection, this is a 35 mph road, 15 when students are present. The person crossing was a student. The cammer slowly rolled to a stop. AND THEN there were a full 5 seconds before the impact.
The person behind was both speeding and still had plenty of time to stop, AND should have expected stopped traffic. They are at fault. Obviously.

To combat this, you need to pay even more attention and save any maneuvers until after your eyes adjust.
Cameras are very sensitive to light so it probably looks different than irl, looks to me that they were just staring at their blind spot or mirrors for way too long.

People out here will play chicken with you to get around a cyclist. One thing that always amazes me about it is they don't do early apex, they will cut corners in the middle or even turn tighter and tighter as they go around the corner. They're not saving themselves any trouble, in fact, they're working against their vehicles!
