In the process kf buying one just like yours was 😂😂, getting it for 400$ so in total Im gonna have maybe 500 in the car, I can resurface the head myself, figured it would be a really cheap little daily while I save money to build my race truck 😂😂

Hey man I got a d17 that needs a new headgasket. I know the d17 for some reason have common issues with headgasket popping. So i wanted to replace it a good one that will last. I'm keeping it stock but I wanna use arp head studs with cometic head gasket for better longevity. Or you think oem is better route?

You didn't lube it enough with installation of the cam and rocker arms. The rest of that is very good, that's the only thing I had noticed.

i have two of these engines D17A2 where can i get teh part to delete the EGR crap (02 Civic EX 5 speed COUPE) D17A2.. one good running motor and a spare (apart) good head and block with all new parts forged floating rods hicomp pistions (domed) from a ZC lol i want hi compression, im only looking for 138+ HP.... i just love feel of NA... and dont want too fast anyway just want a bit more umph. thats safer than turbo. turbo needs too much maintanence

Clapped engine has given good service. Adding in 200$ ARP studs on a 300,000 MILE engine seems even less than a waste of $$
is the d17 bigger than the d16 in terms of overall height? I know the d16 is around 22" tall im wondering if the d17 is taller?
i think they the same block, but the 1.7 has sightly bigger bore?
If you put that non vtec egr housing, will it effect the smog of the car?
Yes removing the egr will effect getting a legal smog
Would a blown head gasket cause the recovery tank to overfill (coolant not returning to rad) ?
Yes. Forget the exact reason, but on the 7th gens the gasket fails where the exhaust leaks into the coolant passage. Boiling the coolant and making it spit out the overflow. I would definitely try burping the systems, leak down test, and other small things first though.

I zoomed in right before you slapped the head back on, looks like you only cleaned the outside deck. not the cylinder tops. And you could’ve been a lot more cleaner with the new head, use a table you’ll be happy. I like this video though, I learned from it. Thank you

Not sure yet. We will dyno thr car when it has the turbo.

Getting a head resurface is not very expensive
got to remember its a over stroked d16.... more stroke on a engine less revs
