    you should make a P&P AEM cam kit to be able to install the D16Y8 rocker assembly for the D17A2. you said u had to shave off some material on the AEM D16y8 cam and keyway in order to fit the D17A2 AEM cam.so would be nice to buy them already shaved and ready to install. great video like always.

  • @sicckarrimail6525
    @sicckarrimail6525 Před 3 lety +2

    This is similar to vtec e but truly isn’t. Honda refined the vtec in these to turnover at 3k for a smoother transition and a smoother HP curve... These systems actually create more low end torque and high end power then the older 4500 BWUAAA vtec system. Yes it doesn’t make the cool turn over sound but all in all is actually more powerful just much less noticeable. It’s said that the d17a2 with the stock vtec system breathes better then a b16a2 and pulls smoother then the y8 and other vtec systems of that era. This also makes tuning easier because you work off a smoother hp and torque curve rather then tuning around the huge jolt of power at 4k-4500 on other models. This is what I’ve learned doing extensive research because I’ve been considering switching mine out too but now I’m indifferent.... What’s your experience with it over a period of time?

    Hey red, what cam gear housing is that you’re using? Did you get an aem for the d17 then just swap out the center to match the d16 cam? If that’s the case then that’s a $200 investment. Just picked up a y8 manifold and d16y8 cam with the rocker assembly but I’m stumped on what to do about the cam gear. Kpro with the cam gear is $875 from Hondata, then I’ll just have to pick up a separate aem d16 cam gear I suppose?

    Did you use the rocker arm assembly and cam from a y8? You say d16 in the video, and you use the y8 in another video so I am just assuming the rocker assembly and cam are also from the y8. Hope I am correct.
