    Would you recommend putting sealant (silicone base) on all seals & chamfters for the 951 DI engine during assembly? I didn't see this on the owners manual (unless im blind). Just confirming prior to putting this thing back together! Thanks & great video!

    Is there any kind of timing that needs done to the trigger coil amd PTO shaft? I had to remove stator and replace the trigger pickup onto the new stator. I did not take the magneto wheel off the flywheel. I'm not following the manual the best it seems. It's a 951 carb.

    Even though a pro like you is going to chase the threads no matter what, when the cases are being blasted, why don’t you have the holes capped off with those conical, silicone plugs that powder coaters use? That’s how I do it and then it’s a lot less work chasing the threads. NICE job!!!!

    • @TodayWeWrench

    Got everything set up to put my white 951 back together and noticed the smaller of the two inner seals for the cb gear on the crankshaft is hammered. Half the sealing lip is gone along g with the retaining spring. Should I have it rebuilt or buy new? Who's your go-to for a crankshaft? I get the feeling you won't say SBT.

    Hello guys
    What oil ended up you using in the counterbalance shaft gear? Manual says SAE30 but your link is for lucas gear oil. Over the years manuals have said a few type sae30, 2 stroke oil, synthetic pump oil... how critical is that?
    Thanks for helping

    On the balance shaft bearing with hole. They say bearing hole is to face up but looking at pic in repair manual can see screw for fill hole which looks like hole is actually facing down to lower part of engine not up towards cylinders. Just curious when they say hole faces up is it because they have crankcase half with cylinder studs as starting assembly so hole is facing up towards you but as you put together other half it’s actually at bottom of engine opposite direction of cylinders?

    • @TodayWeWrench
      @TodayWeWrench  Před 4 měsíci

      Per the manual it should be facing up to the cylinder. Honestly I couldn't see it mattering much

    • @dkackley01
      @dkackley01 Před 4 měsíci

      Probably doesn’t matter. I just had a never opened engine and noticed when I split crankcase hole faced down. So I looked at seadoo service manual showing pic of direction of hole and noticed the oil fill hole screw showed in pic opposite direction of hole on bearing so had me curious.

    Hi. Are the 787 carbed and RFI Lower ends -(cases) the same?

  • @ericthorsell7515
    @ericthorsell7515 Před rokem

    The little lubrication hole (giggity) on the collar on the counter balance shaft by the gear in the middle needs to be facing the sky if putting it and the crank in the lower half of case? If building the engine upside down the hole would face the work bench....? Also I'm pretty new to the PWC world, but not 2 strokes. Got a 97 GTX and a 98 GSX limited with the dreaded 'white' 951 engine which I'm rebuilding because a Reed valve support rib broke off and went through the engine. No serious damage, but tore it apart to make sure.

    Hi guys. I’m assuming that’s a Rotax 951. I recently bought a 2004 seadoo sportster with a fault Crank position sensor. Where is it located in the engine? I found it in the manual’s online and pulled apart the engine to get to it but I don’t think it’s the correct sensor. Is it that sensor shown at the end of this video attached to the inside of the stator cover? Thanks. Miguel.

    • @TodayWeWrench
      @TodayWeWrench  Před rokem

      You must be working on a DI, this is a carbed engine. Your are correct however, the sensor is in the mag housing.
