Temu is really a bad look as sponsor.
Fr
The fact that all I get is their logo and some glimpses of their store front when looking it up is all I need to know. Pure shovelware.
Yaa
Slave labor n all that 😅 but ay that's capitalism. Money is money, regardless of how many people died to produce it
They don't care as long as they're getting paid, just like any other CZcamsr
Tonight on OVERDRIVE,
Will tries to flip a shoe.
Callum tries the wish version of wish.
And Scott talks about buttons.
THE WISH VERSION OF WISH
@@jeffstaples347Haha spot on!
I have the power 499-500
Why are you guys advertising the detail stealing scam artists...Temu. the new wish. Seriously rethink your sponsors.
+1, no one should be advertising Temu
@@Sprw agreed, that's why I pointed it out. They are basically saying with that advert: "come on users, give away your details today." Only reason they even used it themself was because Temu gave them £100 to spend 🤷
@@s2e130 I do worry with how many gullible people there are to trust something advertising itself as "Shop like a millionaire" like surely you question how they can have prices that cheap.
@@Sprw we can only hope people are more aware, with all the scams about these days. But with that stupid "shop like a millionaire" quote, it draws in people who love to shop but can't afford it with all the inflation of prices. We can only hope Temu isn't around for long enough to do too much damage.
They've stolen people's identities
The NA had different wheels and tires than the NB which very well could have caused the time difference.
100%, it stands much wider compared to stock
They all need identical tires in stock size for a good comparison
@@MonkeyMD3 exactly, this race was a poor comparison unfortunately. It was fun to watch though!
yeah i think the B had some rather shite tires on it. with that power level it shouldnt have been slipping as much
yep, quite sad to see as the NB is my personal favourit of the bunch
Will actually nailed the prediction for the ND lap time!! Impressive! By the way, the ND is a ND2 and it’s been lowered with a different exhaust. I know coz I have a ND2 and I’ve done the same mods, haha.
What kind og exhaust is it?
I came to the comments for this! But yeah the suspension makes a big difference. Even still the ND is lighter and faster than I could’ve hoped the 4 gen would be. Especially the ND2
ND2 has a significant power bump with the reworked 2L too. I'd love to see if an nd1 was faster than the NC too. I have an 06; my Dad has a Launch Edition ND1.
@@daneharrison3426 it seems like just lowering springs since it still has body roll
DO NOT BE SPONSORED BY TEMU!!!!
Scott: a bit on the grass, sorry owner
Me (the owner): thanks... apology accepted.
Jokes aside, it was a brilliant day, good to see my car in the hands of someone who knows what they are doing, 10/10 would let you guys borrow my car again 👍
@warfanger2593 it depends where you are, in the UK you can pick one up for £2.5K but you may end up spending money on it to do it up, especially if there are rust problems. Mine was a bit more expensive but the previous owner had a bunch of work done on it (such as fixing the sills) so it was bit more expensive. I'd recommend spending a bit more to get one that's in decent condition.
You guys def need a light sensor to track lap times. A sec+ can easily be lost from the start/finish timing, when done by hand
Hahah YESSS!!! I just commented how they need to atleast invest in actual stop-watches with how inaccurate their current method can be (trying to tap a button on an Iphone, without looking)😅 But your idea is better. With the amount of lap timing they do, it would be great to see the exact times. (Along with keeping a 'top gear' style leaderboard for each track)👍
Too much effort and time installing the sensor that's why they don't do it plus they need to calibrate it every time they installed it in new cars
More like half a second, but yes
They could probably pick up some top-quality timing gear off TEMU for about 50p, right?😂
@flexinclouds yeah I agree. The leader board was always fun to see on top gear
I think the next sponsor needs to be some accurate timing equipment 😆
Yeah, temu bad. Video great though! Ive had 2 nb's and 2 nc's. Current nc is BBR200 tuned on koni coilovers and it's fantastic! Pains me to see an nc on standard shocks, you guys need to show yours a little more love!❤
Temu sponsorship is a big yikes, didn't a single person infront/behind the camera think about how awful this is?
Pretty disappointing ...
Not long before Temu is revealed like the kamikoto knives.
yeah well ... about that: I got a Video that does that from 2 Days ago :x
Modifed Nc owner here, nice to see how well the Nc performed!
In North America the Nc has 167 hp rather than this one at 157. I wonder how the North A merican model would have fared.
@@whatever3749 I always wondered about those power numbers. The NC got new cams and forged internals in 2009 with the NC2, which raised the redline. On debut, the NC1 was advertised at "170hp", which probably means 170PS (167hp). In the rest of the world, they went from the 157 number up to 167 with the NC2 update, but all the manual cars got the same cams, forged internals, and redline increase (automatic cars retained the NC1 cams and 157hp rating). I don't see what makes American NC1s so special that they had more power with the low red line, but gained zero extra power with the new cams. American reviewers even said the NC2 engine had a totally different personality on the top-end compared to the NC1. Personally, I think ALL 2.0L NC1s were 160PS and all manual 2.0L NC2/3 were 170PS.
@@JETZcorp I think hp was rated differently in other countries due to pollution restrictions in those countries..More pollution controls on car exhaust caused less hp. Don't quote me on this.
While the ND does need modifications to clean up it's track performance, the tail happy nature of it makes it an absolute riot on the street even at or near speed limit speeds. I think it's worth the trade off.
I own one and it's very tail happy, although it does communicate with you when it's about to lose traction.
@@rjayzonfeet It is tail happy but my expression is less mirthful. 😉
@rjayzonfeet I own one too. It does communicate but it can get snappy with its short wheel base.
youp got the 1.5liter one and its fun as hell, but i do agree with you, that a pair of better coil-overs will do amazing, the stock tires are not that bad but can be upgraded for even more performance
"smiles per gallon"
NC owner here, what a joy to drive❤ great video !
Ahoy, captain! NC owner here, too.
I bought my 2012 used with 19k miles on the odometer, and it's been a pure joy to drive. In 2015, the NCs were the cheapest MX-5 you could buy (for a vehicle in decent condition, anyway). Collectors and other "car guys" in the market didn't drive up the cost of used NCs because they thought it looked too big or was too heavy. Still a blast to drive, though.
My grandma had a red 1996 MX-5 NA called Mavis when I was a kid. Whizzing along country roads, so low I couldn't see over the dry stone walls, feeling everything in the engine, the slight roll on every corner. It was completely different to the family car my mum drove and made me fall in love with cars.
Thanks for this video guys! Really took me back :)
Based grandma.
I heard that people were having there credit information sold on the black market after shopping with temu.
Always happy when you release a new video! Thank you! :)
The reason they call them "mini vipers" Is because the NB and the Viper had the same designer. Also, they look like mini vipers!
You should do this again with stock wheels and the same tyres on every car. Or at least as close as possible.
Leery: Cautions, wary, suspicious
Lairy: Ostentatiously attractive, flashy / (slang): Loud, aggressive, antisocial
To me it seemed like he was unintentionally combining 'wary' and 'leery' since they have similar definitions. But Scott's use of leery also wasn't really applicable.
Been looking forward to this one !!
Thanks for the absolutely fab day!
If ever needed your welcome to use it again!
Would of loved to see and hear the clip of the grinding noise from inside the car on that tight corner though 😂
And Scott in the colour coded glasses make the Final Cut 😂
Rob - 30ae 😊
Love this channel! I hope to see you guys making the same kind of video with all the Impreza WRX generations. 😁
Sponsoring temu is shameful.
Love this new format of videos!
With the amount of lap timing you guys do. Can you please get actual timing equipment? (Like a GPS Vbox or Dragy)? Or a light/laser sensor to place at the tracks?
Trying to tap a button on an Iphone (without looking), can easily be over a half second off. It'd be cool to have the exact times, and then keep a leaderboard for each track👍
Great video, keep them coming! Love from Finland!
Thinking back, I do love these small Japanese "sports" cars
That's my brother's NA, yeah it leans, the suspension is like a monster truck 😂
Looks like you had fun in them little cars again. Starting to want one quite a lot 😂😂 although I would also want a turbo and straight pipe 😂
These are such fun videos. I would take any year Miata and would be completely happy.
It's weird for me to say this because I generally maintain older cars look better, but I think the ND is the best looking mx5. S2000 is still the best looking Japanese sports car though.
Great fun this video! I always liked those little cars. Fun without spending much, reliable and easy to maintain, good balance.
One of the quickest drivers and their car in the SCCA autocross and time trials is a slightly modded ND. They're still serious sportscars.
Any Mx-5 it's such a good platform, with little modifications you can get a budget friendly spirited roadster that will always put a big smile on your face!
Y'all should do one of these with every VW Golf
Might be more interesting to do normal Golf's, not GTI's
I'd love to see every model of modded civic
@@ThereAreNoHandlesLeftyeah even the non performance oriented golfs would be interesting due to how many different engines they've gotten. Diesel, I4, I4T, VR6, I5 (not in UK tho)
or lancer
Love my 1990 NA....been to Mexico from Vancouver BC, via Washington, Oregon, and northern California, over through N MX, into Arizona, down to San Carlos, Sonora. I use it mostly on dry days, and on the road for 6 months in the summer.
It has 283,171 K's on it,(175,959 Miles), Fantastic car, and so much fun to drive,
Still a stock block, 125 hp? Top goes down, in less than 10 seconds, top goes back up 12 seconds.
Bought it for $1,800, 12 years ago then spent $10,000 on bodywork, and fantastic paint job, (rusty spots, included).
Most fun car I have ever owned.
You should do a video where you compare tyres and how they affect lap times and feel.
Im am so happy with this video!
The NB you had is exactly like my first car which I own now. Mine is a SunRacer but really it is the same colour and same edition but for germany.
I love it and especially seeing it in your video! I greatly appreciate!!!
Today on Overdrive we ignore the fact that the cars aren’t on the same tires
Fun fact: The ND is the only generation that is lighter than the previous.
Been said elsewhere, but bare caution towards using temu.
They should try the better, later and higher spec NC models. The 2006 was probably the worst of them all.
Fun video but what would have made it a great and informative video is if you standardized on the tires. The times were close enough that tire selection is a large variable. In the US, there is a race class where NAs and NB compete called Spec Miata where all cars use same tyres and suspension. The NBs are clearly preferred if you want to be competitive..
Agreed!!
Awesome vid🎉
for Will,
The nb8c - the SE model - did come with that lovely turbo.
That good Calum never got lost doing his fast lap.
Big turbo na owner and love it ... regardless the gen Miata Is Always The Answer... peace and love all keep it rad stay safe and build on l8z
Long live the Miata MX5!
“It needs a massive straight pipe and a turbo!” Haha! Yes it does! BBR Stage 2 Turbo and a catless dump did wonders for my 2018 Club.
We really need to know which diffs were in each. I had an NB with a torsen and it made a big difference to corner exits.
My NC.2 has the factory Bilstein suspension pack which I'm sure will outhandle a standard one. Perfect set up for the road with nice soft damping for speed bumps etc.
I was thinking the same, ive driven both and the grand touring is just so much better and worth the money
A friend and I had a fun drive him in his NB and me in my NA both 1.6, it was so close between them, very evenly matched
Finally a new vid. Iv been trying to survive watching Driver61 but its impossible. 💀💀
What suspension did you guys have on the NC?
For videos like this I think you should mention what tyres the cars are using
Top Job Chaps 🤘
I'll be honest I'm a bit gutted saw your guys post on the mx5 page and thought it may be to far for me to go to for the track, then you guys end up at the track I'm a member at 😅 great video lads
love the vids
Enjoyable video, a small point, probably should have used an NC 2 as suspension and engine are both better, would have been more comparable to the fastest versions of the other cars you used.
I've owned 3 NA's, one with a Flyin' Miata turbo. F'ing loved that car
Curious how much better the na would perform with a refreshed suspension, 25 year old bushings have got to have a big impact on its performance on the track
At 35 seconds, weight transfer isn't related to the amount of body roll!
Cool video, right as I was thinking about buying an old cheap one 👀
Gutted my mk3 wasn’t chosen, but a great video. I have driven all 4 and my favourite for driving as a daily is the mk4, fun on the road/track mk3 and the mk1 is my favourite as it’s the original
Love the mx5 content! NA owner here 🖐🏼 1.6 turbo 🏎
the MX5 is and i think will continue to be the little sports coupe to beat. they just seem to keep nailing the feel and the fun of what a sports coupe should be. if you want some absolutely INSANE racing, check out the MX5 Cup on a track like Daytona. simply incredible racing in stock drivetrain MX5s! all they do is beef up some safety, everything else is stock. it's insane and fun!
"every MX-5 needs a big turbo"
So true! 😂
nc's have 170 crank hp, is that the 1.8?
Curborough is a great little sprint track, we go on the open days
Is it possible that the NA was equipped with grippier tires than the NB? I see more sliding on the NB footage 😅
Did you run them all with the same tires?
This content is the type of stuff i would want to make if i had a channel
My ass forgot the name of this channel, randomly typed in Mazda Miata after not watching car stuff for months, and this was the first result? I need to buy a lottery ticket next.
man the nc is underrated
its the first mx5 with an actual interior
It's just the ugliest one 😂
speaking of interior, that nd interior is _sahweeeet_
@@Maaaaaax-07 Na NB us uglier. An exterior modded NC also looks quite a bit better than a modded NB
As a miata owner/appreciator I was really looking forward to seeing this one, but was left wishing a for more. You are quite a knowlidgable bunch, so its a shame you didnt make it a bit more technical and set up the test more riigorously. Miata is worth going into, simply because there isnt another car that offers this kind of chassis design and light weight for the money. It is infact the closest you can get to driving a formula car on the street for less than 5 grand.
Ah, the car guy's ideal 4 car garage 😆
If only we could combine characteristics of these cars - I'd take an ND for the price of an NB 😁
My dream 4 car garage is: Mazda MX-5 NA, Volvo 850, Mazda MX-5 ND and a full off-road Mazda MX-5 NC1
@@bernardoramos7842 I'd definitely want something comfy for long journeys in there!
I'd actually have an LC500, 306 GTI-6, MX-5 ND and 981CGTS, might splash out on the ND suspension to make it a track weapon (but probably no extra power...maybe).
you're actually advertising temu?!?!
It would be nice to have a comparison with the Abarth 124 - the Fiata.
NA: Normally Altered.
NB: Normally Buggered.
NC: Normally Crashed.
ND: Normally Dad's.
Naturally
@@saiyan2525 Yeah. I changed it. Then changed it again to be more in keeping with the rest. Humour is hard. Feel free to roast me.
"Don't you talk about my Passat." - best line in my opinion
the MX69 license plate hahahah
Love the video but I wish you would have used the 170 HP NC not the 1.8L which is much slower. It would be way more comparible to the ND at that point. Bad NC miata pick for sure.
guys can we please use automated timers for more accuracy ext time?
Do a GT-R Generation comparison!
I have a nd 1.5, i do not race, i just have fun on little roads. This car is great. I will never sell it.
You guys missed the mark 2.5, absolutely diabolical
Looks like the 2.5 or NBFL, however they went for an Arizona which isn't the sportiest model.
60:40, but left to right cracked me tf up lol
Try suzuki alto works
1987 - 2020
Turbo, Manuel, all wheel drive
did you test a 1.8 NC miata?
I want one so bad, its a shame the recent ones dont look cute as the first generation one
Can only accept mastercard to enter???
Nc3 would have been probably 2 seconds faster than that nc1. 10 more hp, much lower ride height.
I believe the NB and the Viper were designed by the same man.
There was an update to the NC to tweak the suspension and engines, which I don't think this one in the video is
U guys should do a gtr series would love to see older generation gtr
You need to include the GEN two Mazda speed MX five which has 180 hp
Would love to see a Fiat Panda (and maybe a Seat Marbella in for good luck) generations comparison. They're all over
Is the nd modified? They don't sound like that?
Temu also sell your card information 😅
Rly using temu as a sponser?
