Elvis sqinted and often closed his eyes because he had glaucoma and the bright stage lights hurt his eyes and he refused to wear shades because he considered it disrespectful to his audience.

Back then men sang songs of regret and emotion, not to much now. People were romantic and men expressed their feelings more. Talk about sweeping a girl off her feet. All of Elvis' jumpsuits were designed by Bill Belew. Elvis wanted a costume that resembled a karate gi because Elvis LOVED karate and the gi allowed for freedom of movement for his physical on stage performances
You missed the trolling of critics he did at the beginning. When critics pointed out the few times he looked at the words , he was trolling them saying; we had to learn 50 songs, “which was real,” then starting in his cynical humor, “only learnt 5, here’s one we don’t know”. Then they nailed it. That’s how he dealt with critics.

The music documentary this comes from "Thats the way it is" is such a great movie and a favorit among Elvis fans. Elvis was in top form , the songs great, his stage precense amazing. I took my sister to watch the new redone version of it and she became a fan after that.
